Fun lunches!

Came to the resort a couple times to enjoy the indoor bar, pool, ocean, lunch at Palm Grill, and to watch the planes. Bettina was a very fun and entertaining waitress on both occasions. Food was great. Water was lovely one day but waves rough the 2nd visit. Loved watching the planesā£

Poor service, mediocre all-inclusive

A friend and I stayed at the hotel for a weekend of plane spotting at Maho Beach. The location is absolutely perfect for aviation enthusiasts, steps to the runway that SXM is world famous for. The hotel is dated, but otherwise clean. What turned me off completely were several occasions of poor service. A surly bartender at the lobby bar set the scene on the first night- ignored patrons then asked us upfront to tip him. Second was the service at Jing's restaurant- our server looked at me like I was crazy when she got my drink order wrong and brought me white wine instead of red- I politely asked for what I ordered and she was cold to us from that point onward, acting as if we were to blame. The third instance was at the towel hut- I returned our towels to the attendant after waiting patiently for 10 minutes to properly return them so we could check out and not be penalized. He handed me two fresh towels- I said no thank you, we are checking out and just need the cards to return to the front desk. He looked at me cockeyed for a few seconds and then begrudgingly issued the cards back. These are little things that add up to leave a sour taste. I have worked in hospitality for 18 years, body language and tone of voice are everything to a customer. Surly attitude and begging for tips are cardinal sins in hospitality. Our room was clean and our housekeeping attendant was very gracious- checking on us every step of the way to be sure we were well taken care of. Service at the point buffet was mostly good and attentive. Food at all outlets was fair- but many times not fresh or even edible- the Kung Pao Chicken at Jing's Kitchen was horrible. The selection of liquor at the bar was sub par- bottom shelf, bottles I've never seen or heard of before- Heineken, Stoli and Kahlua were really the only safe choices. Wine was not good either. Value for location, pool area and beach is great, but based on the service and poor quality of food & beverages, I do not plan to return- a shame because the location and surroundings are world class!

This make my second trip. I was here in April and I had to come back in October. I love it here. CECEIL is amazing. CECEIL is so so so nice. The food, vibe, and entertainment is perfect. The airport to the hotel was only a 5 dollars cab ride per person.

Family vacation

The Hotel was really nice and clean the people from the Resort was very helpful i recommend for families and friends they just need add more variety of food then the rest was amazing.they welcomed us with champagne and warm towels.

Best resort on the island!

We just came back from the Sonesta Maho and it was fabulous! We live on Saba currently and have been to St. Maarten many times, this resort is by far the best we've ever stayed at. Being an all-inclusive I was a little nervous about paying the extra money and that the food was not going to be very good, BUT I was pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent and it was worth the extra cost. My son loved the kids club too.The hotel itself is well-maintained and the rooms are nicely furnished. We were upgraded to an ocean/pool view without even asking. The staff was also very friendly which is a welcome change from some resorts we have stayed at.And, of course, being that it is truly all-inclusive, all the drinks were FREE too. We had a trip planned for St. Maarten in December and actually changed resorts so we could stay here again. It was great!
