Very convenient for arrival near airport. Just take a cab ... $8 for 2 people. Check-in was quick although a line. Room was not ready at check-in, but were able to use all - inclusive benefits. Enjoyed a quick lunch and tgen got in room. Room was clean, elevators ran quickly, fridge stocked daily with drinks. We ate at all of the restaurants. Breakfast was our least favorite...very similar to free breakfast at hotels. Make reservations upon arrival for your entire stay. Loved the hot rock and the Point, rest were good too! Pool and all facilities clean and relaxing! Casino right across street. Car rental in lobby makes it convenient. Would definitely recommend for the price.
The hotel itself was undergoing renovations, which was not a problem for us. We had a renovated room. However, the shower leaked into the bathroom floor (we reported it but no one came to fix it) and the lock on the door broke the wood when they installed it so that you had to slam the door to make it catch. Apparently other doors were the same way, as door slamming was heard often. Otherwise, the room was comfortable and well furnished. The service at the bars and dinner was terrible! My daughter and I must have gluten free food and we finally gave up and ate off site. The waitresses at dinner on the first and second nights were openly rude to us, did not know what we could have and made it clear they didn't want to find out. We had to go find restaurant supervisors to get help, and one of them thought that potatoes were gluten. We were told that we could get a gluten free pizza, but when we went to get one, they needed 24 hours notice! At The Palms grill, my other daughter asked for a vegetarian plate. It was supposed to be a tofu skewer but she was only given 4 pieces of carrot and 3 pieces of broccoli as a meal. On our last day, even with having given the 24 hours notice for GF pizza, they told us they needed 4 hours to make it. We complained to the front desk after the second failed dinner and were assured that the chef would contact us to give us information but he/she never did. While the drinks were fairly good, the bartender was again very rude and the drinks are in small cups. At one point, my husband ordered 4 drinks (there were 4 of us present at the time) and the bartender shook his head and said "you people are incredible!" I'm not even sure why he would say that but it was beyond rude for no reason. In fairness, I must add that breakfast was a different experience. Every day, we had someone willing to tell us what we could safely eat. Our waitress each morning (Latoya) was very friendly and helpful. We were even given gluten free toast every day. At dinner, we were told they couldn't get any. I'm not sure why dinner was so different.Overall, the hotel was adequate but we will not return to be treated so poorly. I've never had an experience like that and don't ever want to again.
I never write reviews but I had to , before booking I decided to read reviews , after alot of bad reviews I decided I will keep an open mind before judging ... yes the staff is extremely rude was told they are underpaid so I understand ... 2th don't stay in any rooms that aren't renovated they smell like mole ( thank god they upgraded us well after I had a nice lady at the front desk ) when you arrive to this hotel the staff treats you like your a rich white person honestly I asked everyone staying here and they said the same thing!! NOT EXPECT to eat whenever you want there times to eat and well everything closes at 9:30 ... For one day we had no water that meant no flushing or shower ... the sun wing staff are just F rude ! In conclusion if you thing you'll be treated like a customer you can forget that! The French side ppl are extremely nice and polite that sentence the friendly island only applies to that side !!!
This place is a total dump that seemingly hasn't been redecorated since the late 80's or early 90's. They're in the middle of renovating (hope you like construction noise!). If you must stay here (which I don't suggest), insist on a renovated room. When I realized this difference, I was told they were at 100% occupancy in renovated rooms until after my check-out date. Tried upgrading to their sister property Ocean Point across the pool... they wanted an EXTRA $260 USD per night (plus taxes and fees) in addition to what I'd already prepaid in-full for my entire stay.P.S. I killed no less than a half dozen cockroaches in my room hallway to the elevator.
Great place to spend week vacation.Staff at the resort is very good, food average but fresh and well prepared.Rent a car or take a local minibus to explore the island ,both French with capitol Marigot and Dutch side are nice.Took a coastal hike from Guana Bay to Back Bay which was amazing.Alcohol on the the Island is cheaper then on Princess Juliana Airport duty free shops FYI.
