This stunning, upscale resort is the ideal spot for either a relaxing or an action-packed vacation. In addition to boasting the largest infinity pool on the island, it features 317 luxurious rooms and suites set amid lush vegetation.

Location: Set on the spectacular Dawn Beach on the Dutch side, approximately 25 minutes from the St. Maarten airport.

Westin Hotel is a nice, clean hotel on Dutch Side

I've stayed here at this hotel in the past about 4 times now. I've rented homes on SXM, and stayed at other properties as well over the last 30 years. The Westin is the only US chain hotel that seems to be consistent in delivery. It is situated on the Dutch side, with a decent quiet beach (SXM has many, so see others too). Rooms:Nice large, clean rooms. Beds are comfortable and plenty of room to stretch out. You wont be banging into things. The TV is decent and has all American broadcasting, etc. The bathroom is large, especially the shower (could get 3-4 in there if you like company). There is a mini-fridge in the room, with decent supply of typical drinks. Not much candy (2 things maybe). The ice machines are on each floor, but no vending machines. If you have a balcony room, the balcony will only seat 2 and it is compact. Nice to overlook ocean if you get the room.Restaurant:Ocean is a decent restaurant, with buffest for breakfast. Oddly enough, never ate at any other restaurant over the years. Ocean Bar in hotel lobby is fine, albeit small.Internet: I'm a techy, and I like to work on vacation. On this past trip, internet was not good. It worked at length (maybe 3-6 hours), but dropped and required frequent re-logins. This was mainly on the side of hotel where presidential suite / Aura restaurant located; I never had too many problems in the past on the other side close to Westin Beach Club side, but this time, every day was a problem. The front desk acknowledge a problem with a number of guests, but their tech is outsourced, so don't count on them. And if you have kids with a lot of devices, they better play in the middle of the night their games. Also, if you have a hotspot, wont work unless set up for international.Parking/Security:Easy and secure. Everyone parks in an onsite garage, right at front of hotel. There is always someone checking you go in and out. And a word about Safety - I have never had an issue in my 30+ years of going to SXM. Yes, I have seen comments here and there. I'm not out at midnight either, or going to place I probably should not be in either.Property:Well maintained and love the smell in the hallways. I think they pump in air with eucalyptus or something. But overall, they maintain this property well. Chairs work, carpet, paint, ballrooms, floors, and even casino - all maintained well.Spa/Workout:I was only one in there, but its nice, yet small. About 6 or7 treadmills / 1 elliptical, weights, and some bars. Lifefitness equipment. Most equipment worked.Beach/Pool:Nice quiet beach, but I normally travel in October. There are no umbrellas by the pool. Why, I don't know, but the sun is hot enough, they should have some. None, other than by food area. They have a some palm trees, but they are useless. This is a drawback in my opinion, as its nicely laid out, with nice chairs and all. They do have cabanas for $50 (October), but think its ridiculous no umbrellas. Also, on beach, they do have some umbrellas, and they are ok, but not the commercial type you typically find at other resorts. They are basic, consumer based quality, and not very big to sit under. The chairs are fine, but the drink stand and umbrella are weak.Business Center:3 chairs and a printer. Nice room and you can print off boarding passes when needed (Though you still need to show passports at airport, so you either do at check in for flight, or do at gate). Again, this room also dependent upon internet, so print your ticket once you can checkin, as you may need to go back a couple of times to print if the internet is down.

Beautiful rooms.

Resort was beautiful but beach was less to be desired. Found other beaches to make up for it. Lucky we had a car to travel around to find better places to swim. Bed was amazing and room was spotless. Staff were helpful and friendly.

timeshare vultures and don't think SPG means ANYTHING here!

The timeshare sharks here are ridiculous and sadly there is no pathway in which you can walk that you don't come across them. In addition, we paid for an "ocean view" and what we got was a roof top if the restaurant below, semi ocean glance. if you sat in the chairs provided, you saw a railing and a rooftop. ridiculous when as an SPG member who often times stays at Westin resorts, we couldn't get a room down the hall marked specifically for SPG members. Those actually probably had a view. Food and beverages were as expected, good quality, great service. Front desk staff, valet team, and bellmen were all Westin quality and friendly, helpful, and quick. Ocean was amazing, great service on the beach, good chairs, clean. Pool looked cloudy and dirty, but there were about 45 people in it, so could have just been that. overall a solid 2 as we didn't get what we paid for at all and folks shouldn't feel like they are being hounded to tour or buy when all they want to do is get to the gift shop or their room. I actually cancelled a corner, ocean view, king suite at a boutique hotel up the road because of the Westin name, I will think twice before doing that again. We drove by and regretted cancelling that booking the rest of the stay :( bad job SPG, get on this hotel as they are giving you a terrible name.

Once you get past the timeshare hawkers

We were waved over from the side of the road that led to the Westin by a young couple that looked like they were having car trouble. but no they were employees of the hotel trying to trick passing motorists into participating in a scratch off game to win prizes. We went thru the motions, they were sweet and who knew, we might win something. Then when we supposedly did, they said only a couple could actually win the prize. We only had one true couple in our group and they were same sex. Not allowed, says lovely girl. ugh, What a scam and anti LGBT to boot, just trying to push time shares. This whole thing is set up to lure guests to the hotel. We already had eight services booked at the spa and were going any way. Not a good start to our Westin experience.Got to the hotel, two more people in lobby tried to get us to play the scratch off. Finally got to spa. Very nice receptionist. Decent facilities, could use a little TLC. Good massage and average mani/padi. Nice therapists though. Pool deck is beautiful with excellent service.

Green Hair, Westin don't care! 😡

Yes, green hair is exactly what my friend and I left with after dipping into their jacuzzi at night. All we got was baking soda to help get the green color out, the end result, broken greenish hair. A report was filed, but no apology from management given. What's more, they assured us the jacuzzi would be closed due to the incident we reported, yet I never saw a sign closing it or warning guests about dangerous chemicals. My hair was green and started falling that night, many of the staff witnessed this. Yet once again, management never apologized or even offered to take my friend and I to a salon were our hairs would be fixed. At checkout, we spoke with Antonio Eleonora, we asked for the manager Dan, but he never came. Instead, after Antonio only offered points for the inconvenience, we insisted it wasn't enough because it would cost hundreds of dollars alone to fix our hairs and purchase new swimsuits which were damaged by chemicals in the jacuzzi. So Antonio went to the back office and when he came back assured us that the whole stay would be comped. Instead; however, the credit card on file was charged and when we called to inquire, Antonio denied what he had said to us and said nothing would be credited for our stay. I am baffled by how management allowed this to happen since this is not the first time I or my friends have stayed at this hotel. It has cost me over $200 alone to get the green color out of my hair and try to hydrate it so it stops falling/breaking, it will take a few hundred more dollars to bring the blonde highlights back and fully revive my hair to the healthy state I had it in. I am attaching photos of our green colored hairs. One is of me with green wet hair at the entrance of the dinning hall (waiting for someone to bring baking soda from the kitchen since washing it numerous times didn't work), the other of my friend with green hair in the room. Not sure if the hotel will approve of photos being posted, but we have them. The Westin did not live up to its name during our visit and though we tried to make the best of our weekend getaway in paradise, as a woman who takes great care of her hair, it not only almost ruined my vacation but took days after the fact to be able to get it fixed to where I felt more comfortable going out in public.I can assure you I will cease recommending the Westin immediately because of the lack of attention and consideration management had with us after the incident.
