Great value friendly hotel

We came to this hotel in April 2015 and very much enjoyed it. We decided to visit Portaventura again for Hallowe'en so re-booked this hotel for 3 nights. Excellent value. The food is pretty varied ( disappointed the lovely home made cookies were no longer on though!) and always something for breakfast and dinner. Lots of locally produced spirits beer wine and soft drinks. The Entertainment staff Roverto and Ivo remembered us and greeted us warmly as did the bar staff, Daniel and his crew. Always pleasant and friendly. Had a lovely time. They even had a birthday table laid out ready on our arrival in the evening for our daughter's birthday and had made her a cake. So they went the extra mile. There is a large pool adjacent to the bar and also a rooftop pool with jacuzzi! Take your own towels though as they do not provide pool ones. Table tennis and other activities on and music,bands and karaoke and dancing at night. Well done Molinos; I have recommended you to my friends and we will be back next time we visit Portaventura!

This is budget hotel. I didn't expect much for that price. Rooms very clean, housekeeping very polite and helpful. Food not the best, all inclusive option is a joke as "alcoholic" drinks are served without alcohol. It's far away from nice beach.

Basic hotel but very cheap and good value for the money

Now I don't often bother writing a review but feel it needs saying because of seeing so many poor reviews including quite a number who were there the same time as we were in Oct half term week 2016, we left on 29th.Let's start with reception the staff were very friendly. Yes they have to say we have to charge for the Internet and make phone calls, neither means they are not helpful but doing their job.Restaurant, the food is a typical buffet in a Spanish 3* holiday hotel. There was always a reasonable choice with mains having a fish dish and normally 2 or 3 meat options plus a kids area that had burgers and/or sausage. Some evenings there was even fresh veg, which is pretty rare. Within the meats there were nights even with Duck and Rabbit which is hardly being samy. I would say the puddings were pretty similar but there was still plenty of choice.Now to the packed lunch. You have to order them at reception before 8pm for the next day. This is written on the in room information and they give you a receipt, so to the reviewer who said there was not one for them the 2nd morning I'm sorry there was confusion but they must have known the 1st night they got a receipt. As for what was in it, above average. A ham and cheese sandwich, no butter but provided in carton to add if desired, Apple, orange, some fruity jellish thing, a tin of pâté and a bottle of water. Rooms, now it is certainly true that the walls are paper thin, you can here people normally talking. Indeed our neighbours had a night when they started arguing and shouting about 11:30, got to a point when it sounded like it was becoming violent. Guests seemingly in number were knocking on their door. Personally I was scared and did not want to confront so called reception who sent up security without difficulty. Few minutes later knocked off again and phones again and that time they were warned if called again would be evicted from hotel, so good on the hotel staff. I do not know if the sheets were changed but I think they were as I had sweated a couple of nights. Yes the rooms were small but adequate and were we're family of 4.Bar staff, I'd tend to agree a couple of them did not come across as that friendly but they were not rude, however in the evening you did need to remember they only provide 2 drinks to each guest at the bar at a time.Entertainment staff, I really did not get any impression that they were anything other than friendly. They had to work long hours and did it with a smile. As for those that said aimed just at Spanish, I really did not get that impression. I also thought that until the last day of our stay the hotel was majority English, it did fill up with Spanish on Sat 29th for their last 2 days of opening with Spanish arriving for Halloween at Portaventura. I know this as we talked to some whilst they were queuing to check in, they go there every year for Halloween. What I would say about the entertainment is it is most days just too late for a family hotel as not starting main act until 11 on many days, which does seem strange for an all inclusive surely you want them to go to bed!The pool was very cold, I did manage to brave it in twice but the kids were happy. I do think they could do with spending some money on the ground around the pool as it is uneven, but t is not unsafe just moved with the years.As for those making comments about the area being quiet that is not the fault of the hotel, it is very much the end of the season.It was very good value for money. We paid about £440 for 7 nights all inclusive for family of 4. Now really how can they provide the food for this let along the whole AI.Now my main assessment of a hotel is how happy the staff are, for me this can make a 3* feel a 4* or 2* if they get it wrong. To show you how much I thought of the staff I went out of my way to make sure I got to see the hotel manager to say how lovely all his staff were. I only hope he told his staff of the good comments, they deserved them.So if you want a cheaper hotel this is certainly worth considering.

What a horrendous place

Just don't bother, the only decent part is the reception desk.The rooms are small and not very well kept. The bathroom was small and dirty, I asked for it to be cleaned on arrival as it stunk. The bed was grotty, as was the linen.The wardrobe was falling apart.The balcony had broken tiles and to step out onto it you had to make your way over the giant step.All night you could hear the groan of the lift.The pool was uninviting with grotty sun loungers and broken tiles surrounding it.The food was horrendous - a buffet of random items, all looking less than appetising.I stupidly booked this place as part of a last-minute 'cheap and cheerful' package - worst decision I've ever made.I stayed here October 2014 - so for this to still be fresh in my mind, tells you all you need to know.It provided me with the worst holiday I have ever had.

Worst hotel.

Stayed here with my mam, stepdad and brother. Arrived here on the 24th of October. My cousin and her son also stayed here but arrived a day earlier. Worst hotel ever! Would not stay here again if I got paid. Entertainment staff: very rude! My brother went up to get a bingo ticket to be told to sit down by the entertainment staff. Was very disappointed. When it was the Spanish holidays we had lots of Spanish in this hotel and the entertainment Staff catered for the Spanish. There wasn't many English family's in the hotel at this time but we literally got pushed to one side.Bar staff: only positive about the hotel is the bar staff. Some are very friendly (1or 2 are moody). Loved to have a little chat with them on a daily basis. Restaurant: the lady who greeted you in the restaurant was lovely as was the lady at the bar. Food in restaurant: very poor. My brother lived on cheesy chips, and I lived on pasta. Not much choice. Again catered for the Spanish when they arrived. Reception staff: very rude, would not help in any way. Our suitcases got delayed and we asked if they could ring the delivery company and they said we would have to pay them to call. Everything was about money. Disgusting. All inclusive: food poor, drinks okay. We didn't leave until 5.30pm on the 31st travelling back home but our all inclusive finished at 12 noon. So this meant not being able to drink even fizzy drinks after noon. You can order packed lunch for trips. We were going to Barcelona on the Wednesday so ordered packed lunches. Long story short we didn't go till the Thursday so handed the packed lunches in as a courtesy (could of just binned them). And asked if we could have them the following day. We were told yes. Next day we asked for our packed lunches to be told the receptionist didn't understand is so didn't order us any! We were allowed water and fruit and when we went to pick it up we just got a load of attitude and disgust of the girl in the restaurant. Cleaning: done basic cleaning but didn't take empty cups or anything out of room. Resort: nothing much around unless you get bus. We walked around one night and everything was in darkness. Like a complete ghost town. Sandra, the out and about guide in the hotel was lovely. No fault on her. Wifi: could pay for wifi. It only 1 device per time. Tv: could pay a deposit for tv but I wouldn't bother as you just get calls and knocks on the door for having it too loud. My cousin stayed on the same level but along the corridor and she had so many complaint made about her. Really silly complaints. The walls are so paper thin you could here everything. In my opinion don't put an elderly couple or someone who wants to relax on the same floor or next to someone who has kids or family as the children are very excited about being on holiday and just no need to have a complaint being made about noise in room over excited children.All in all worst hotel ever, defo would not stay here again!!
