This is not a luxury hotel by any means...

First, the good. The rooms on the 9th floor are big and have a roomy, nice looking marble bathrooms with a great jacuzzi tub. Also the room has nice amenities like coffee, tea and water. That said,a night on their mattresses is not much better than sleeping on the floor (and I like hard mattresses, but this is ridiculous). And, of course, the rooms are noisy - it has been a long time since I could hear the folks in the adjoining rooms. There is no service to speak of - no bellhop to take you bags into the hotel and up to your room (we arrived at 8 p.m. and the doorman leaves in the afternoon), two hours (literally, and only after two irritating calls) to get someone to bring you a remote which works and they can't call you a cab (and there is no doorman). I was told that in Spain they cannot call you a cab if there is a taxi stand close by (really, with 50% unemployment of young people???), even though there are no taxis at the taxi stand. And this neighborhood is a $14 cab ride (one way) to the main boulevard and not one you would want to walk in (graffiti covers everything and with unemployment the way it is, there are young men standing about everywhere). Lastly, the bartender's idea of a martini was to put some vodka in a glass over ice and, then, when I explained I wanted it "up" (and told him "no ice"), he put the warm vodka in a glass and handed it to me. I think this is a hotel where they drop everyone off by the bus load. I love luxurious hotels and this just isn't one of those.

Lovely 'business' hotel

Please Please Please ignore the miserable reviews below me. I cant believe how some people can be so damn rude and lack so much common sense!This is a lovely hotel, yes its main purpose is being a business hotel but familys are still welcome. Ive stayed in a few business hotels now, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with them, just some peoples expectations are not realistic. We stayed here for a week while exploring & relaxing in barcelona and i wouldnt have picked anywhere else to stay. Stylish hotel throughout, friendly staff (regardless of previous comments) and lovely breakfast. We specifically didnt eat dinner here because of previous reviews and to be honest was glad as the downstairs restaurant is under renovation at the moment, so they obviously cannot offer the full service they would like too. Although i would like to point out that absolutely nothing could fault the breakfast service. Huge array of choice, cooked, cold, cereal, fruit, breads.. how anyone could nit pick and find fault with that i have no idea.We had the first flight out of heathrow @ 6.15am so arrived at the hotel around 10.30am, even though check in isnt supposed to open until 2, our room was already ready for us to get comfortable and un-pack. Yeah okay the beds arent the softest in the world, but if they were soft im pretty sure someone would complain that they werent hard. After a couple of nights sleep you get used to it like a human, plus actually exploring barcelona makes you too tired to even care!The hotel itself is in a great location, 1 block away from the metro (which we used alot!) and only about 10 minute walk from the beach & restaurants at the port olympic. Everything is easy to get too, and it is not a scary neighbourhood which people have tried to put it out to be. Its a residential area and you barely see another soul walking around after 10pm. Only small downfall i must say would be the rooftop pool. As much as we loved it once we had beds, it just wasnt big enough or had enough room for everyone. But then you have to remind yourself that it is after all a business hotel catering for families etc, so its not going to be like the resort you would find on the costa del sol. We got up @ 9am to get beds and stayed there till about 3 on only 1 day of our trip, this being a sunday was an extremely busy day. It is alot busier from friday - sunday due to weekend travellers but its no big problem at all. Overall i would recommend this hotel & the chain (as their other hotels elsewhere are incredible) to people who know what their expecting and are not miserable human beings. I loved exploring barcelona, thank you h10 for making it a lovely experience for us.

Absolutely wonderful!

This was a perfect choice for a quiet stay in Barcelona, away from the crowds. It was perfectly located near the beach (a 20 minute walk). The service at this hotel was excellent, the rooms were kept clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful during our stay. The rooftop pool and bar were well-maintained and the view was breathtaking. The distance from the hotel to Las Ramblas was about 10 minutes by car. We would definitely go back!

Extremely small portions, lousy service

Due to bad weather decided to have dinner in the hotel....what a bummer....extremely disappointing regarding service and portions: 15 euro's for small, tiny piece of salmon. Not recommended. Waiter may need to look for a new job....

The problems started at check-in. We were a company of 6 and had 3 rooms. At check-in one of the rooms were "missing" and they tried to make us pay extra for one of the children even though the cost for her was clearly included in the price. They were also unable to fulfill our wish to have a doublebed in one of the rooms. We only had dinner at the hotel once. We were almost the only ones in the restaurant at that time but still they were unable to serve us within a resonable time. They served undercooked chicken and paela with burnt rice. They did for the record remove the cost from all the delayed and bad food from the bill but it still ruined our experience. On the plus side, the breakfast was really good. There was only a short walk down to the beach and the staff in general was very friendly.
