H10 Salauris Palace

We've recently got back from a two week stay in Salauris Palace (9th-23rd July 2017). The hotel is situated just on the outskirts of the centre of Salou, it's takes around 10-15 minutes to walk to the centre/beach, and it's also a 10-15 minute walk to the PortAventura World theme park resort. The hotel is very modern, clean and the staff are very friendly. This is our 8th visit to this hotel and a few of the staff recognize us each year which is always surprising. The staff are really great throughout the hotel, always smiling and say hello/hola when you pass by. If your room is not ready upon arrival the very helpful porter will take your suitcases to a holding room, and if you have any thing expensive you wish to keep secure, there are lockers in the holding room (I think it is 1€ or 2€ to use - money refundable). Useful if you have tablets/laptops/DSLR camera etc. The hotel rooms are nice and spacious, with a mini fridge and safe included in all rooms. There is a balcony with each room, pool view rooms cost extra although I would recommend paying the extra for this, if not other views face the main roads (which are fairly quiet in the evenings) and the theme park (which has a nightly firework show which you'll probably catch). There is a daily room keeping service so rooms are kept clean throughout your stay, towels are replenished daily, and complimentary toiletries are also kept stocked if you use them. The restaurant is spacious and seats a large amount of guests, food is served in a central area, a chef 'show' area, a bakery section and also a children's section. The restaurant caters for those with all food tastes, there's plenty of variety although if you're staying for more than a week you may struggle to find something different each night as there is not a lot of variation as the days go on. This is something that you find with many hotels with restaurants like this so it's not a big issue, there's only so many different things that can be done with food catering for a large amount of people. During the day if you decide to relax by the outdoor pool there is plenty of space and sunbeds are placed in stacks around the pool so you pick the areas you want to have sunbeds by. The doors opening out onto the main pool open at 9am, and guests were queuing from 8am. We did find some days people were running out to grab spaces and honestly it was like watching an episode of Game of Thrones, I did find the behavior of some guests questionable and I wouldn't be surprised by August when it's busier if there will be swearing, shouting and fighting for a beloved space by the pool. It's not a lot the hotel can do and over the years we've visited the hotel we've never seen it this bad, but then we've seen it worse in other hotels. If you do really care for a particular spot, be prepared to battle for your space, Game of Sunbeds awaits. The hotel also features a roof top terrace with a hot tub, this area tends to be a favorite with groups/couples, since it's a quieter area and ideal for those that just want to sunbathe. The hotel also has a spa, situated on floor -1, it offers treatments that cost extra, however included in your hotel stay there is an indoor pool with jacuzzi (mandatory swimming cap is required), a sauna, steam room and a gym. These aren't advertised hugely so it tends to be quite quiet down there. Hotel entertainment is decent, the Animation Team (entertainment team) are a lively bunch and run multiple activities throughout the day for kids/adults, followed by nightly live shows performed by themselves and by acts from outside the hotel. There are two bars at the hotel, one indoors and one outdoors, both serving drinks throughout the day/evening. Drink prices are around the same as any other hotel, it's expensive, but what you expect from holiday resort hotels. If you drink spirits you'll get plenty of alcohol that's for sure, no stingy measuring like UK bars/pubs. The bars serve light snacks throughout the day. There is also an outdoor restaurant open during the day, we've never eaten in there what with Salou a 10 minute walk away, but it's always an option if you want to stay on the hotel grounds. The hotel is especially suited for families, however the hotel caters for all kinds of groups, couple, groups of adults etc.. We visited as a family of 4 adults and have always felt welcomed, and there's always a variety of groups/families staying in the hotel. If you're looking for things to do in the local region of Cataluña, Barcelona (a great city only 40 minutes drive away), PortAventura World theme park/resort (only a 15 minute walk away) and House of Illusion (on Salou beach front) are worth a mention and looking in to. If you're travelling with a travel agent they all run multiple excursions/tickets to these areas/attractions so speak to your rep when you arrive. We stayed in room 443/444 overlooking the pool, great views of the pool. Overall it's a great hotel, very clean, with friendly staff and in an ideal location. We're already discussing if we'll go abroad in 2018, and where, although I'm sure we will visit Salauris Palace again in 2018.
We stayed at salauris hotel July 2017 with are family we had the best family holiday the hotel staff were very helpful the entertainment staff were amazing the food was great location to portaventura park was walking distance cannot fault this hotel.
Just returned from our stay 16th July - 23rd A fantastic clean Hotel in a very well situated location, a 10 minute leisurely walk to a lovely beach, local shops, bars and restaurants. PortAventura World is a 10 minute walk and clearly visible from the hotel. The hotel caters extremely well for all ages but would say it appeals especially to families with younger children, however perfect also for couples. Our group travelled arriving on a Sunday morning at approximately 9:30 check in is not until 2 and our bags were placed in a storage room for us allowing us to use the hotel until rooms were ready. My only real Criticism was that on arrival we asked if we were allowed to use the restaurant to grab a drink and breakfast snack as it had been an early start from Gatwick that morning, we were told that this was not allowed and we were only entitled to dinner that day. This I felt was a bit disappointing and I have not experienced this at previous hotels on holiday. If you are therefore travelling and arriving at the hotel early it's worth bearing this in mind. The hotel in all areas is kept very clean.A fantastic well laid out outside area with a good sized pool that at no time felt overcrowded.Sun beds were also in plentiful supply and we always managed to get a nice spot. Doors to the pool area open at 9 although queuing starts from 8. I queued at 8 and also at 9 the following day and still managed to get the same spot both days, I can imagine in peak season the situation maybe slightly more difficult.I did find that only being able to access the pool area from 9 onwards was frustrating, I am an early riser and would have used the pool area much earlier if it was open.Bar and waiting staff are fantastic and work tirelessly all day. There is an outside bar open throughout the day and in the evening and a larger bar inside. The inside bar is open until 1 in the morning and you are asked to vacate the outside seating area by 1. Entertainment team are also very good putting on various activities all day for both children and adults. Our room was 363 and for us was ideal facing out overlooking PortAventura World it meant we were able to watch the Firework display after 11:30 in the evening from our balcony. Restaurant area was clean with a fantastic breakfast selection on offer, dinner was also very good with a plentiful supply of food however like other reviews it did seem to be the same every night with small variations so by the end of the week it was a struggle to find something different.Evening entertainment is mainly geared for children up until 10 o'clock and then between 10-11 a different external act performs these are advertised each day on the information board and those that we saw were very good.Overall a great Hotel and place to stay it provided great value for money and we will definitely return again soon.
10 of us in 3 family rooms. Excellent accommodation and meals too. We had been before but the other 8 had not...they thought it ace too. Views to the Portadventura Park from our room was excellent. Minor prob with a socket which they fixed immediately
Recently stayed for 2 weeks with husband and 2 boys 16&13. Food was excellent and lots of choice and although busy time of year staff were always extremely helpful and you always found a table. Animation team were excellent and worked very hard and the splash dance is a spectacle to see and also join in with. I don't normally participate but a special mention to Alex whos lovely bubbly & friendly nature persuaded us and we had a ball. Great location being in the middle of the parks and the beach. Fantastic free Wi-Fi all over the hotel which enhanced my sons and our holiday. Overall a brilliant holiday had by all, the staff are a credit to the manager and we would definitely return.
