My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 5 days in August 2016 and were very satisfied with the attention, breakfast and customer service. Alejandra at the front desk was so sweet and helpful! she greeted us every morning and made conversation with us about our day and always offered assistance in booking activities for the day. Room was always clean, air conditioning nice and cold, and iron was provided when needed. hotel is one block away from train station, very convenient location! I would recommend this 100%
My Wife and I stayed 2 nights in this very clean and comfortable city centre hotel. It is a short taxi ride from Barcelona Sants station,( 5-8 Euros) and about a 15 min walk to the top of La Rambla, Check-in was quick and efficient and all members of staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and well maintained. The buffet breakfast included in our room rate was the normal fare of cold meats and chesse, scrambled eggs and bacon and very nice.
First visit to Barcelona happened to coincide with a huge Pharma conference so this was not our first (or 20th) choice for a hotel. Would have preferred to be closer to Gotic or Eixample and with more amenities but were lucky to get this. We took cabs to get everywhere. Rooms very basic. Twin beds. No view - looked at wall of neighboring building. Basic amenities - one tiny bar of soap and 5 tissues in a box that they did not replenish (the following day I asked and received). Check in took 1/2 hour. No common space other than restaurant we did not try. All that said the front desk staff very nice. Just ok - very basic.
Really enjoyed staying at this hotel, yes it is a 15/20 min walk into centre from here, but you can get taxi right outside if you need. The hotel is very clean, staff friendly, room well maintained. The one thing I thought the hotel could have done for guests is to lower price of breakfast, also reduce bar and room mini bar costs.Well worth a visit.
This was a 50th treat for me and a treat it was too...The hotel is situated about 15 minutes from Barcelona airport. It will cost you about 28 euro to get a taxi from the airport to the hotel which we would recommend.HCC Open is close to the main road that leads to the Rambla (about a 20 minute walk away), which is the main high street full of shops, restaurants and other great things to see. Once you get there you'll find yourself walking for hours down the Rambla, around the marina and to the beach. There is so much to see and do.We stayed for 3 nights, 2 adults and 1 child under 2 years. The foyer was very crisp and clean and the staff we extremely nice people. We asked for a map which they gave us free and drew on the route to take, which to be honest, because of the location, was really easy to follow to all the main attractions. There are two lifts from reception to each of the floors. The room was well sized, very clean and well presented although if anything a bit old fashioned in its décor. There was also a table and chair in there to sit and relax by the window with a glass of wine or a beer and watch the world go by at night. We asked for a cot which was provided free of charge. There was a tv in the room which you could change to English speaking on most channels, a mini bar and en-suite bathroom. There was also air conditioning which worked well and wasn't too noisy. We asked for a safe also and this was free in the room, you just need to ask and they will give you a key. Most other hotels would charge (sometimes up to 35 euros). There is a small 'city tax' fee also to pay, for our stay it was just over 4 euro in total. You can pay that at any time so we just paid it at the start so we didn't forget it.I think it goes towards upkeep of the city amongst other things, and it's well worth it as there are loads of people seen keeping the place tidy. I don't think I saw a piece of litter anywhere to be honest.Whilst we were just a street off the main roads, the double glazing was particularly good at cutting out the outside noise. We are pretty good walkers and were out 10-12 hours each day, but if you want to get about and couldn't manage that, the subways are pretty much on every block and only a euro or two to travel wherever you want around the city.Whilst we didn't eat in the hotel, it looked well presented and laid out. we had breakfast at a small café on the same block. It was nice to sit out on the warm mornings with a coffee/tea and a hot toasted sandwich or croissant.Plusses for staying here - location very good, price also good, clean room, everything worked, clean bathroom, pleasant staff who were well presented.Reception area and also the toilets were very clean in reception (this to me is a good indicator of what a hotel is really like), easy access for tube station, lots of small shops similar to Spar shops should you need anything and one literally on the other side of the road from the hotel that's open till 10pm.There were no real negatives, if anything there was a lack of plus sockets. We had 2 mobiles to charge and a travel kettle for the young childs supper warming and we didn't have enough sockets. Also the room décor could do with an update. On the whole a really nice stay, staff should be commended for being very welcoming and pleasant and we plan to visit again possibly next year for probably 5 days next year. When we do we will be looking to stay at HCC Open as first choice.
