Spent 4 days here exploring Barcelona. Check in and out were efficient and the staff friendly. The room was clean, nicely decorated, had all the usual facilities and a good view over the pedestrian boulevard. The bathroom was huge. The buffet breakfast was good with a large selection of hot and cold food. The roof terrace was open just once (as it was November) but it did give great views and I imagine the swimming pool is great in the summer. Otherwise there were limited facilities apart from a small bar, however the hotel is so central you can literally step out on to the pavement and into a range of tapas restaurants, cafes etc. Great stay, would return if in Barcelona again.
My husband and I slept here for 2 nights before flying back to New York, after our cruise in Spain. Barcelona was our em/dis-embarkation port. Our room is quite spacious, with 2 twin beds, and very comfy pillows. The bathroom has a big tub, a bidet, and adequate toiletries. Our only displeasure about the room was that it lacked enough lighting so it was not easy to read the maps, upload/edit pictures on my laptop, etc. The best thing about this hotel was its location. The street has a central, long promenade which has restaurants that offer Alfresco dining. Many nice shops and restaurants nearby. We loved passing thru the promenade and also dined there. Placa de Catalunya was about 15 minutes walk.
The hotel lies in central location of Barcelona. It is walking distance to Passeig de Gracia, Plaza Catalunya and La Rambla. Plenty of good and nice restaurant around this hotel. One comment on hotel Regente that the hotel does not have air condition, so it is rather warm.
A pleasant hotel in a central location. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and sufficiently spacious for the three of us. The breakfast buffet was classically continental and well stocked. The roof terrace is lovely but don't expect a large pool! The one downside which causes me to doubt the 4 star rating was the lack of air conditioning. The room was uncomfortably warm and the street noise made leaving the window open all night untenable. The manageress, who was very apologetic, explained that the air conditioning had been turned off in order to prepare for turning on the heating for the winter months, a 'quirk' of an old building! Overall, we had a lovely visit to Barcelona.
This hotel is on "Rambla de Catalunya". Not to be confused with Las Rambla which is the extension of the same road, but down near the Port area and requires a different car route from train station, etc. It's important to know this when you're speaking with a taxi driver. To/from Hotel, it's about €7.00 taxi ride from Barcelona Sants Train station and about €35.00 to Airport. It's a 5 min comfortable stroll to tourist area for the hop on/off buses and souvenir shops, department stores, etc. It's a comfortable 25 min stroll from hotel to the Port area. The hotel is surrounded by boutique shops and restaurants / cafes. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help. Most speak very good English and encourage you when you have a go at some basic Spanish words. Room comfortable (firm pillows - thank goodness !!!), quality breakfast buffet, fast room service in mornings.Tips; 1. Get a room with a balcony, won't regret it. Extra cost approx €30 p/night but you can negotiate. Aside from being very pleasant, it enabled us to wash and hang clothes out. We thought money well spent. 2. At breakfast, you can ask for your eggs to be cooked how you like them (not many people asked for this). 3. The top deck on L8 is very nice and small pool available.
