Reading some of the reviews (particularly the 'poor' and 'terrible' ones), I was worried what we might find upon our arrival and if I had made a mistake by booking this hotel. But our experience was completely the opposite! Firstly, the location is excellent! Right off Plaza de España with two metro stops near-by, close to the Royal Palace and Gran Via. Really easy stroll into the city to, say, Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. You can eat, shop, go to the cinema or theater not going far from the hotel. There are several really good restaurants in the streets around the hotel, and also junk food joints if that's your thing. Plenty of shopping possible on Gran Via. It took us about 30 minutes to get from the hotel to the airport on metro.Check-in was fast and easy and staff member we dealt with did his best to accommodate our needs. Check-out even faster. Our room was decent size, so was the bathroom. Shower had fantastic pressure. Room and bathroom were cleaned and towels changed daily and maids respected 'do not disturb' sign on the door. Room was equipped with a TV, safe, mini bar, desk, chair and armchair. Bed was super comfortable. There was enough space to store our luggage. We didn't turn the TV once during our stay so no idea what channels were available. Also, our package did not include meals, but as I said, plenty of options for breakfast (Faborit, Pans & Co. etc.) and lunch or dinner in the vicinity of the hotel.Wi-fi was working well on our phones, a bit too slow on the laptop. As for the hotel and rooms being shabby, yes, they could do with a bit of refurbishment, but it's not so bad that it would ruin anyone's stay.We would definitely stay in this hotel again if we needed to stay in that part of Madrid.
Stayed here during a mini break to Madrid. Great location and easy to reach from the airport via the metro. Great check in and a lovely second floor room. Did not try the breakfast so cannot comment. Only small comment is the hotel does not have a bar. Some renovations were taking place during our visit but did not impact our stay.
Everything was good during my stay in this hotel, the staff is very kind, my room on the 5th floor had a balcony and a nice view on the street, and there are 2 metro stations (Plaza de Espana, Ventura Rodriguez) just near the hotel. I will return in this hotel in the future!
Rooms small, old, but clean. Fridge in the wardrobe. Electric socket not available, quite challenging to find one to charge your devices. Bar closed all the time. Staff at reception very friendly and kind. Location great to city centre, metro station.
The hotel is situated in a street close to Plaza de Espana, within walking distance to Debod temple, royal palace and the central parts. The street is a typcial central Madrid local street, with many bars, restaurants and also shopping. The hotel feels like a traditional spanish hotel. I had a room with roof terrace, which was very nice since the weather was very good. However, the wifi did not reach out to the terrace, so you could not sit outside using your laptop. The room was tastefully furbished and beautiful, but not always in best shape. The bed looked very soft, but was very hard, which is something I prefer. I could sleep very well in this hotel. The room also was very clean. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere welcoming. I would not mind staying here again.
