Good but basic

The hotel was not to far from the city center with on the roof a nice little swimingpool (tooooo cold! ) we asked for a quite room and got one who was not at the street site wich was quite. The metro stop is realy nearby. The room is basic and we found it a little to small for the 3 of us. But then again we came for Madrid and weren't often in the room. The breakfast was good but the breakfastroom was very noisy and so was the staff who cleaned up. The staff at the reception was very friendly and their English was o.k.. The room was cleaned properly.

A wonderful week at the Gavinet

This was my first trip to Madrid. I had no idea what a wonderful city it was. When I walked out if the hotel, after a gracious and delicious breakfast, I had my choice of intriguing streets with iron balconies and spring- flowering trees. A perfect place to stroll. And then to the many parks and gardens and, of course the museums. Coming back to the Gavinet felt so comfortable. The room was welcoming, but so was the hotel's cafe which served all day - not just when meals are soppsed to be served (3 and 9 pm).

Great location. Clean, modern and affordable. Helpful, friendly staff.

Great location. It's just a few moments walk to the start of the La Latina area, which is the main area for restaurants and bars. And in 20 mins you get to the end of La Latina and hit the Plaza Major. It's clean and modern. Free bottles of water in the room and water dispensers on each floor. Strong wi-fi throughout. The roof top pool is tiny, but refreshing and it has about 20 sun loungers.I thought the beds were a bit too firm. We got a lot of road noise as we were 1st floor on the front, so I suggest you ask for a higher floor or for a room further back. Our room also smelt of a bit of smoke. I can't believe hotels still allow smoking it their rooms. So if that bothers you, then I'd ask for a non-smoking room (assuming they have those). We just flung the windows open. The rooms are a bit on the small side; they say they'll take a 3rd bed, but I can't see it myself. We didn't eat here as there's a great little local's bar for breakfast €2 about 1 min up the road.

Good place to stay

Very positive aspects are: The location, very close to the Metro Sation and at walking distance from a fantastic movida area; the room cleanless, forniture and silence; the quality and the diversified menù of the breakfast; the extreme kindness of the very young staff. The rooms are not so big, but it is quite a neglectable issue.

Pleasant stay in Madrid

The Ganivet Hotel, where I stayed for a three-day business trip is well suited for a short to medium stay. It is favorably located and offers most of the things one could wish for. The rooms are clean and sufficiently furnished. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fully sufficient and reasonably tasty. The "dining hall" was not really inviting, but that is the only real concern I have with this hotel. I would recommend it to anybody on a short to medium trip to Madrid.
