The hotel is very accessible from Metro and centrally positioned in a quiet location. Rooms are clean, tidy but small. Self service breakfast catered for a range of tastes and sufficiently spacious. Roof garden is worth a visit for relaxation in warm weather.
The hotel was ideally suited for either using the local buses or walking around the city to visit all the tourist locations in the city. Hotel was very clean and the staff extremely helpful -at breakfast , in the bar or on the reception desk . We did sit in the roof top pool area on a very sunny afternoon but just too chilly to use the pool.
My first visit to Madrid was excellent not just because it is a wonderful city but also because Hotel Ganivet is perfect due to it's location and comfort. I had room no 102, very quiet, big and relaxing beds, every day cleaning, delicious breakfast etc. I would like to thank to all personnel from reception and security for being so nice and helpful. Next time in Madrid I will definitely stay at Ganivet!
We chose Hotel Ganivet for the final three nights of our Spain trip largely because the hotel was inexpensive and in a section of Madrid that we wanted to experience, that is La Latina. The hotel has attractive qualities that I'll detail later, but I know that when I am comparing several hotels sometimes reading the negatives is more enlightening and so I'll start with the negatives.1. Calle Toledo isn't a very attractive street and was choked with traffic at morning and evening. True, the area grew immediately more attractive heading in the direction of Plaza Humilladero or opposite-ways toward Plaza de Cascorro; and Calle Toledo had a couple of corner groceries that are convenient for the traveler; but overall the street that the hotel faces is a little depressing.2. The Ganivet hosted several large youth tour groups that were bussed in and out. This didn't present much of a problem, except congestion at the elevators sometimes and a slight bit of noise in the corridors, however if you're looking for an adults-only accommodation this might sour you: it did me.Those, actually, are the only negatives. Now the positives:1. Staff were friendly, professional and helpful. A young lady from Seville graciously checked us in, and chatted briefly with us about our trip to her hometown. A young man at the desk helped book reservations for a performance at Cafe Central. The staff in the bar were friendly at breakfast, enduring our miserable Spanish. 2. The hotel has a spacious, comfortable lobby, as well as mini-lobbies on the landings of each floor. Fresh, cold drinking water was available in our mini-lobby that allowed us to refill our bottles rather than buy new ones. We sat in the main lobby a few times when we didn't want to sit in our room, and either read or chatted and this was comfortable. Our room was comfortable enough, but not so great that I'll remember it in the long run. It served its purpose, which was sleep. A word of warning about a Chinese restaurant nearby called Fan Hua--terrible, over-priced food, and my girlfriend was sick for two days after eating dinner there.
Nice clean hotel ,excellent location with a good breakfast .Near to Metro Station WITH GOOD LINKS TO ALL OF CITY .sTAFF FRIENDLY and answered all questions . Nice Bar in Hotel with reasonable prices .Hotel is near to athletico madrid football ground
