The location is excellent. Near bus stops or on walking distance from Plaza Mayor. However, you MUST insist on getting a room on upper floors. Otherwise room very dark. Price too high for what you get.Breakfast OK though basic.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room, clean, just the right size for us. Generous breakfast buffet with everything you could possibly want. It's a Good mid-range hotel close to the metro and walkable to Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, The Royal Palace, Prado etc. if you enjoy walking - all are within a 2 mile radius. We would/will definitely stay there again!
Stayed for a weekend break .The hotel was great from the moment we arrived the reception staff were very friendly and gave us loads of information on restaurants, transport and the surrounding area.Breakfast was really nice with a good variety of food to suit everybody. The pool / jacquzz was also good and was refreshing after a long day sightseeing. The hotel itself is in a good area close to the traditional tapas bars where the locals go and also close to the open top bus which is good to take just to get your bearings in the city. The only complaint I have and it's not the hotels fault is that there is a night club close by and closes at 5/6 am.so it can get a bit noisy but I think all of the rooms are double glazed. We stayed on the top floor with a huge balcony and would recommend those rooms. We will definatley go back to Madrid and have no hesitation in booking this hotel again.
Would recommend staying at the Ganivet. Central location and very easy to walk to all of Madrids beautiful sights from hotel. Clean, quiet rooms. Great value breakfast in the cafe. Will definitely stay again
We stayed at this hotel at the end of August for 6 nights. We booked it direct with the hotel on their website as it was cheaper than booking.com. The hotel was exactly what we wanted for a relaxing / sight seeing holiday. The location is not completely in the busy centre but is in walking distance of all the main sights. The room was quite small and faced inwards into the hotel so didn't have much of a view, however we didn't really spend much time in the room anyway! The room was cleaned everyday and it was surprisingly quiet considering we were in a city. The breakfast was great, with a choice of salad, meats and cheeses, cooked (bacon, egg, sausages), cereals, breads, croissants and fruits. There were also some tasty doughnuts that I would recommend! It was great value considering it only added an extra €4 per person onto our room price! They have water coolers on each floor by the lifts, which meant we hardly bought any water when we were there. It was 37 degrees when we were there , so we made use of the rooftop pool. The pool is small and does get busier as the day goes on, but it never seemed that crowded and we always managed to get sun loungers or chairs. They also have beers for €1 in the vending machine next to the pool. Overall a great stay and I would recommend this hotel to family and friends. Also if you are looking for places to eat we had great Tapas in - Inclan Brutal Bar, Taberna del Chato and Taberna el Sur.
