Great value and convenient for sightseeing

We stayed at the Ganivet for a three night citybreak booked with EasyJet holidays. The hotel is very close to two metro stations and lots of buses stop nearby for easy access to the major sightseeing destinations. The hotel is a ten minute walk to the Mayor and Sol Plazas with countless bars and restaurants nearby. Hotel check in was swift and efficient with friendly staff and a very reasonably priced hotel bar. Rooms were the usual size for a city centre hotel, but were smart and clean with very comfortable beds. The safe (free of charge) was another very useful provision and something not always found in hotels in this price range. Breakfast was plentiful and of a good standard with it never feeling busy and not having the scrums sometimes seen in the breakfast buffet. We were very pleased with our choice of the Ganivet and consider it to be a perfect choice for a citybreak for those wanting good standards and good value. Would certainly stay again if we return to this lovely city.

Good location, great people

Hola !!. Thats how we greet here in Spain. So when we were off to our first ever european holiday our first country was Spain. Madrid was the place where we landed. Now, this hotel allowed us an early check in because we landed at this hotel just at 8.40 AM which were early hours, but even then without any charge they let us in which is very nice of them. Secondly people over here are really warm and welcoming since lot of tourist come to Madrid the duty of the local citizens is mostly helping people. So did they. The staff at the reception possibly gave us all the maps, and routes information that they could give us for the madrid tour. Plus information on good restaurants and sight seeing too was given to us by them. We stayed her for 2 nights and the stay was pretty comfortable i should say, They served delicious breakfast every morning which was included with our booking for all the days. Apart from that the rooms were a little small but comfortable. They have a bar area too so if you are bored or just want to chill for some time you can always go at the bar and have some good time. The location of the hotel is at the walking distance from the nearest metro and other good sight seeing areas. So it was convenient for us to get back to the hotel even if it was late at times. Let me know your questions. Thank you.

Great location, great breakfast, average room

We stayed at the Ganivet Hotel in February 2017 for three nights. The location is fantastic, a five minute walk from a metro stop and plenty of others within 10-15 minutes. It was very close to lots of places of interest and restaurants and bars. There are lots of buses which go past although we didn't use these, preferring to walk. The reception staff were very friendly and efficient during check-in and check-out and we were able to leave our bag to collect later. Our room was on the second floor and didn't meet all of our expectations although it was very clean and came with bottles of water, shampoo, a safe, extra blankets etc. We had two single beds pushed together instead of the double we had requested which was ok, they were very comfy, but not ideal when travelling as a couple. Our booking was a "double room with terrace" and there was not only a lack of terrace but also a lack of any view. The room window looked directly on to another room and we couldn't even see the sky to discern the weather! Breakfast in the hotel was fantastic and included, hot and cold drinks, fruit, cooked breakfast, meats and cheeses, cereal and an extended pastry selection. We used the bar for a drink once but there are nicer places to have snack/drink close by. Overall a great place to stay for a weekend away.

Well located and quiet

We went there for a short trip. The hotel is located near the Plaza Majore and also near Vincente Calderon stadion. We were really nicely welcomed and the staff was friendly. The rooms were confortable and clean. There is a nice mini bar in the hotel. There is everything to enjoy a stay in Madrid.

Return visit

This is the second time we stayed at the Ganivet hotel. It is situated not far (10/15 minute walk) from Plaza Mayor. Although the road out front is busy we had a very quiet room at the back last time.Asked for a quiet room this time, but weren't as lucky. Looking out onto a squared area where you could easily see into the room opposite it was at times very noisy because of kitchen staff chucking out things. Room (233) was at the end of the hall next to the place where all the cleaning staff have their materials stored. Every morning between 8 and 8.15 they used the door next to our room to come into the hall. Much noise and banging unfortunately.Having said all this, as last time we liked this hotel very much. Friendly staff, swift check in, very good breakfast with lots of choices in cereals, fresh fruit, bread, meat. Rooms are large, have good wardrobes to put stuff and a safe. Beds are fine. We are not keen on the pillows, but that is personal.Wifi works really well in the room.Would stay again on another visit, but ask for the quiet room with then nice view over Madrid we had last time we came.
