Disappointing to see the room did not look like the photos. Our room had one window facing the interior ventilation area, so no view and dark inside without lights. But maybe a blessing to avoid hearing street traffic below.Other than that, it was clean, and a good central location that allowed fine sight seeing within easy walking distance. A very good jamon bar/restaurant/store just down the street next to Grand Via is a must stop as well. A good breakfast buffet for 6 euros was worth the money.
Excellent, clean, comfortable, central. Near Gran Via but away from the bustle. Were able to get to both Gran Via and Plaza de Espana easily, plus explore Malasana and Chueca. Great Chinese restaurant across the street.
The location is the biggest plus point about this hotel. Close to grand via it was a breeze to get yo main attractions and other activities. The check in process was smooth and had no trouble at all.The other thing that no other hotel offered while we traveled to europe was the the switch board with the 220 volt in the bathroom that allowed me to use my hair straightener from canada without any adapter and converter. The feature was god sent and greatly appreciated by me its something that should be done by all hotels. The ac was fine too the air conditioning wasnt the best. Also the tv could use a better selection or an upgrade as there was nothing available entertainment wise.Front desk was helpful and printed out boarding passes for us without any issues free of charge.
This is a decent hotel. It´s clean, decent sized rooms, nice bathrooms with a bath and shower, hairdryer, not nice views but well it´s the centre of Madrid! I was more than happy with the room. The breakfast buffet is ok, it´s obvious that they serve the cheapest croissants, ham, cheese that money can buy but it serves it´s purpose. My issue is with the restaurant la carmela. All over the hotel, in the rooms, in the lift on the breakfast table there are flyers for this restaurant. I bought a package online for 2 nights and 2 3 course dinners at this restaurant. Well, the day of the meal I loked it up on tripadvisor, in fairness I should have done this before booking, it was horrific. The reviews were so bad but I went along with an open mind anyway. Cold food, vegetables from a jar, poor quality food. I went with my partner and 2 friends from Madrid who ordered off the menu and I can assure you that the food they ordered was disgusting too. I´m a fairly simple person to please, I like everything and simple food is fine with me but it was just disgusting. That night we both felt sick and my partner vomited. Also, be aware, the restaurant is in a tourist trap and they like to put bread and mayo on your table which they change you 6e for at the end of the meal. They didn´t catch us out with this but all around us there were people studying their bills and looking uncomfotable! So providing you stay away from the restaurant, the hotel is nice!
Lovely hotel to stay in. It is a fantastic location as is right next to both Santo Domingo and Noviciado Metro Stations, so going from there to Madrid and its surrounding areas is great. Furthermore you can walk to the Sol and other main plazas/ attractions very quickly from there also. As for the food we found the cafe next door does better value for money breakfast (Desayonos), so I would go there instead, but apart from that the service was great, the rooms very spacious and the beds were very comfy. If you want a good hotel for location and a nice place to collapse after walking around the Madrid heat, this is a good place to stay for sure.
