Petit Palace Mayor

My wife and I stayed in this hotel one night with our two kids (ages 9 and 10).The room was comfortable and it included bunk beds for the kids. The bathroom was the largest that I’ve seen for a hotel this price. The bathroom had a modern square toiled, a shower with rainfall showerhead, and a separate bathtub with another shower. There was a welcome package with edible goodies and plushies for the kids. It’s located a few steps from Plaza San Miguel, and it’s close to the metro, landmarks, eateries, souvenir shops...you name it.We picked this hotel mainly because of its proximity (two blocks) from El Tablao Las Carboneras, where you can drink or eat while watching a Flamenco show.Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and if given the opportunity, I would stay here again.
Our stay at the Petite Palace was ok, and in some ways good. The room although a bit small was actually pretty comfortable, clean and nice for the price. The bathroom was clean and it had a great shower, probably one of my favorites during our stay compared to 3 other hotels in Spain with higher rates. The pros were most definitely the excellent location of the hotel, right across the street from Mercado San Miguel and Plaza Mayor, as well as the Puerta del Sol metro station a few blocks away, you could easily go anywhere. Also their MiFi portable router is a great perk, it had excellent signal and for 5 euros a day, a good bargain to walk around with it. On the other hand, the cons were the worn out appearance of the hotels common areas and hallways, you could see broken drywall; and there was also a little bit of bad smell in the hallways which is always a turn-off. But the worse yet was the soundproofing, you could hear everything from the neighbors in the rooms next door or even from upstairs, the housekeeping passing the vacuum as well as the people and cars in the street, noise was a true factor... if you are a light sleeper or need alot of noise privacy, this is not the hotel for you, but if you want a nice room for a good price on prime location to just sleep, change and go out, you can stay here for 2 nights and it will do the trick. Hope this helps!
Central to Plaza Mayor and the city tour bus. Family-style room was spacious by European standards, and the spa-like bathroom was Palacios even by American standards. We had views of Plaza Mayor from our room.
The room is nice and clean. The breakfast is continental and delicious. The hotel is located in the city center, in front of San Miguel Market and less than 5 minute from the metro station "Sol". The staff is kind. I recomend it!
This hotel is situated just across the road from the St Miguel market and Plaza Mayor. The position is great to explore all major tourist attractions of Madrid. Plaza del Sol is 5 minutes away. Palazzo Reale, major museums like Prado, the Retiro Park all can be reached by feet. Lots of public transport around and also hop on hop off bus stop is like 2 min walk... My room was sort of smallish - no greater than 15 sq meteres but this was satisfactory for the 3 nights stay I had there. I was most impressed by the healthy breakfast. Lots of choices for those who are into healthy eating including freshly squised fruit & vegetable juices. Liked the food presentation as well. Happy to recommend this place.
