Great Location

Stayed in a family room (407), 1 double and 2 bunk beds. Not huge but big enough for a weekend stay, everything very clean, shower was lovely!Location is great just between Plaza Mayor and Puerto del Sol. Being where it is does mean it's noisy at night so if you're a light sleeper you might struggle!Staff friendly and helpful, we didn't have breakfast so can't comment on foodOnly downside was the sewer smell you had to pass through to get to lift in reception - not pleasant....

Lovely staff!

This was our first trip to Madrid and a great hotel to spend it in. The hotel itself was very clean, with lovely breakfast avalible of a morning. The location is rather central and we managed to walk to all attractions we wanted to see without a problem. The staff were extremely helpful and catered for any issue we had. On arrival the member of staff working was very helpful and gave us a map indicated all things she would suggest to see, along with recommended places to eat. The only downside to our experience was the comfort of the beds which we felt could be improved. Outside the hotel was quite noisy even at night, however this was all part of being quite central. Overall we had a lovely experience and would visit again if back in Madrid!

Great location if you want to be near Sol or Plaza Mayor and Shopping nearby areas

The hotel had a sewer smell on the first 2 days of our stay, mostly in the reception area, it was not very pleasant. This is the second time I've stayed in this hotel and this time we got a smaller room with a few defective items such as hairdryer. As soon as we told them the hairdryer was defective, they gave us a replacement one. On the second day we only got 2 towels instead of 3, we called reception but the third one never arrived. Rooms are quite basic and clean and quite noisy, similar to what you'd get on any standard Novotel, beds are very comfortable though and bathrooms are spacious with a larger than average shower. Given where it's situated, very near Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor, it can be quite noisy outside as many tourists go past the hotel, so if you're a light sleeper, this is not the hotel for you.I'd certainly not class this as a 4* hotel but a 3* and the prices should reflect this.

A place where staff pamper you

I have been using hotels in this chain for many years now in different parts of Spain. They offer a great variety of reasonable prices that accommodate most budgets, great locations, quite pleasant deco, excellent Wi-Fi, high hygiene standards, and foremost outstanding staff. This time was Posada del Peine, located where the oldest hotel in Madrid has been nonstop operating. Half a block from Plaza Mayor is surprisingly quiet even in lower levels. They always have lovely Nespresso coffee and tea at, as well as some yummy surprises in the lobby. Ms. Esther supervises an incredible friendly and professional staff always willing to solve any problem. I had an issue with online bought clothes which they always gracefully keep for you, and Ms. Esther was superb in sorting out all the problems. Pilar in reception is truly warm and has great suggestions. Maria Angeles who supervises breakfast walks many times the extra mile. She suggested so many interesting places to go, new to me that I know the city quite well. She even took me to a special beauty parlour after her working hours, wouldn’t allow me to pay for my ticket, and as usual her advice was impeccable. There are many hotels in Madrid, and locals are so very friendly. However, I would never go to any other hotel as the overall is hard to beat.

small rooms, noisy

When you enter the hotel it smells like sewer. The rooms are small, we can't even have our suitcases out. If you're interested in sleeping past 8am, this hotel is not for you. Every 5 minutes in the morning it sounds like they are throwing a vaccuum down the stairs.
