Petit Palace Posada Del Peine

What a great hotel! The staff was super friendly and helpful and the location can not be any better. We were on the second floor right above the tapas restaurants and bars. Yes, they can be loud me vibrant but that is also the passion of Spain! Our stay was right before Barcelona playing for the football championship and the songs and chants of fans was through all the streets for days in advance. Staff was extra helpful in arranging our airport transfer around the taxi strike!!!We would definitely stay here again.
A very clean and comfortable hotel right in the middle of the city, with a very friendly staff. The breakfast was well presented and good. The hotel is on a pedestrian street, therefore no traffic noise and the windows are very well insulated providing for a noise free night.
Come out of the door and the Plaza Mayor is dead ahead. The Puerto del Sol is just round the corner. This must be one of the best locations in tourist Madrid. If you feel too tired to do much after a day's sight seeing, you only have to take a few steps to get something to eat.The breakfast here is good. I don't ever eat the hot so I cannot comment but the cold had a good selection of fruit, meat, cheese, bread/pastries etc. My room was a small double and was fine. Not big (hence the description "small") but it was fine for my 4 days. Importantly, it had a safe. I don't like having to carry my valuables about with me, i.e. my house and car keys, my UK money. There was no bath (there was one day I would have liked to relax in a bath) but I loved the shower. It had a top rose for when you are hair washing, a slim hand held hose and a right and left section ( no idea what to call them, body jets?) that got you full on. Plenty of bathroom things if you had not brought your own and the body lotion and shower gel smelled nice enough that I did not use my own. The mini bar prices do not appear over the top but, apart from a chocolate bar that I could not resist one night, I am too mean to use a mini bar. One possible minus is Room Service. The room service is from a Sushi restaurant (possible 45 mins delivery) but there is nothing to suggest you could just get a coffee and a sandwich from the hotel itself if that was your fancy but I did not ask so it might have been possibleThere are lots of signs in the hotel about the free WiFi but the WiFi signal in the room is very poor. That might have been the location of my particular room.If I return to Madrid, I would certainly go back to this hotel.
Fantastic location - if that is most important to you, choose it for that. Everything is within walking distance, great to be near Plaza Mayor, awesome nightlife...really great. However, the rooms were really not to our liking. The beds were fairly uncomfortable, the bathroom doors did not close all the way (so no total privacy) and the staff did not feel extremely warm and welcoming. Would probably find a different hotel next time we are in Madrid.
Excellent location within only a few minutes walk to Plaza Mayor and Sol, as well as easy on foot access via beatiful Madrid streets to the main museums. Staff very friendly and helpful, an overall excellent experience
