Petit Palace Posada Del Peine
- What's Included
We stayed there for 1 night whith my mother and 1 and a half year old kid.Though we were leaving early in the morning to the airport; the Restaurant person in charge (Maria Ángeles) let us know she would be available and also breakfast before the regular opening time. So we could have breakfast before heading to the airport.Breakfast is delicious with wide offer too.The "myfi" internet access to use while visiting the city is perfect for toursits like us who don't have internet access abroad.
Petit Palace Posada del Peine hotel is literally at the heart of Madrid. It makes it very easy to walk to Placa Del Sol within minutes, it is close to public transport, and is surrounded by nice restraurants and bistros. The rooms are not too large but quite comfortable, and to reach them you have to walk through a strange system of stairs (you go up, then go down 5-6 steps), due to the building being old, probably a combination of two old buildings. The bathroom is adequate with a bathtub. Reception desk is small but the staff are great: they are polite, helpful, and easy to converse with. Breakfast was not excellent, especially if you don't consume pork products -in that case the choice is really small. The advantage of the hotel is its disadvantage as well: it is at the centre, surrounded by restaurants, so, the end result is that, while you can have a nice paella within five steps from the hotel, you can also hear every customer chatting from your room till nearly midnight. Still, the location, the helpful staff, and the shops nearby make it a very good place to stay. If only when one books a twin room, the Spaniards knew to separate the beds -in all but one of our Spanish hotels, we had to remove the beds from each other.
The hotel is close to the Plaza Major and Sol in a pedestrianised zone, The superior rooms with balconies are good but not large and the shower rooms need refurbishment especially the plugless sinks and odd taps. The downside of the location is late night street noise, despite double glazing, and early morning deliveries. The breakfast is adequate but is probably best avoided as you have a great selection of alternatives nearby.
Great location, good price. The staff were great, all spoke English and accompanied a large group without a problem. The building is old and has genuine charm. Again the location is great being so close the the Mayor square.
The hotel is really well located just next to the plaza Mayor - in case you travel with heavy and a lot of luggage then location is not great as taxis cannot get into the pedestrian zone and you have to pull luggage for 300 mtr.Hotel is pleasant, service is welcoming and sattentive, rooms are very small and view likely poor (mine was to the very small and dark courtyard, breakfast is copious and good but in a freezing room. Overall, good for business, not for family holiday
