Petit Palace Posada Del Peine
- What's Included
We discovered there was quite a few Petit Palaces in Madrid, but we chose Posada del Peine as it was in the action and within easy access to the metro. It was noisy a few nights, but we were able to sleep through this. The front desk staff are very helpful, especially Cristina, who advised us the name of a Petit Palace to stay at in Bacelona and rang ahead to tell them we were coming.Clean room, comfortable bed, great shower and plenty of toiletries. Great selection of breakfast completed the deal. Yes we enjoyed our stay at the Petit Palace in Madrid and look forward to our stay at the Petit Palace in Barcelona.
We stayed at the Petit Palace Posada del Peine for five nights as the last leg of our Portugal/Spain vacation. We selected this hotel based on the many positive reviews on Tripadvisor as well as other travel forums. We found the Petit Palace to be a very clean, well maintained and centrally located hotel. Check in was very courteous and efficient. We had a corner room which was slightly larger than most European hotels offer. The bed was very comfortable with good reading lights directly above the headboard. Amenities included a mini refrigerator, electronic safe, flat screen television, complimentary wi-fi (with an excellent connection) and good toiletries. We experienced no issues with our room as everything from the AC to the shower worked and functioned very well. We especially enjoyed the shower as it had a choice of three separate shower settings (an overhead rain shower, a hand held shower wand and a vertical body sprayer that is not commonly found in hotels). Housekeeping was always completed in a timely manner and they did an excellent job of ensuring our room was clean and well stocked with towels and other amenities. Breakfast was included in our rate and we found it to be very good and satisfying. The selection of food items was quite extensive. There was something to satisfy all tastes and palates. The quality, presentation and service was also very good; it provided a very good start to our day. Although we found all hotel staff to be very professional, friendly, helpful and courteous, Pilar at the front desk went above and beyond in assisting us with various requests and was most helpful with her advice and recommendations. Also, Angeles who oversees the breakfast room packed a breakfast carryout for us when she learned we had an early flight departure and would miss breakfast. She was most kind and helpful and packed a breakfast on her own volition as we did not request this service. What a kind and gracious gesture on her part. We certainly were not expecting a take out breakfast. Both Pilar and Angeles are great ambassadors for the hotel and truly excelled in their efforts to make for a very enjoyable stay for us. Many thanks to both of them. The location of the hotel is both positive and negative. On the one hand it is located right in the thick of things, almost directly adjacent to Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. In essence, there are myriad shops, restaurants, ATMs, tour buses, metro, etc., located literally at your door step. On the negative side, because of this location, it becomes very noisy during the night time and early morning hours. During our stay, Madrid was celebrating the St. Isidro Holiday (patron saint of Madrid). Consequently, throughout the long weekend, they had rock bands and other festivities going on at Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. Needless to say, it was extremely loud and very difficult to sleep as the rock bands played until midnight, followed by subsequent reveling in the streets until the early hours of the morning. Consequently, a good night sleep during the festivities was extremely difficult at best.We enjoyed our stay at the Petit Palace and would definitely stay there again during future trips to Madrid. We highly recommend this hotel as long as potential guests are aware of the noise that resonates from the plazas and adjoining streets.
Only negative - the hotel is really small - the rooms are smallish, the corridors, the reception area... It felt like an ol building that had been renovated, but you could still tell. The above does not mean that there was anything bad about it in general - clean, all amenities as listed, bed was comfortable, bathroom was good.Did not buy breakfast so cannot comment on that.Location is excellent - a step outside there are a number of places to grab a bite, open late. Tourist attractions are also within a walking distance, ideal city centre.
Madrid is a wonderful city and this hotel is one of the oldest. Well positioned between Plaza Mayor and Plaza del Sol in the oldest part of Madrid. The hotel is a good standard with very friendly and professional staff. Would stay there again without hesitation
Have just spent 3 most enjoyable nights at this Hotel which is located just minutes from Plaza Mayor which is very vibrant and "happening"The Hotel staff are very friendly with nothing being too much trouble. If you want to sample the Madrid lifestyle this Hotel is ideally located for all amenities.Highly recommended
