Silken Puerta de America
- What's Included
Spent a long weekend friday to Monday in this lovely hotel, a taxi from the Airport cost 30 euro but the hotel will send a shuttle for you there and back if you arrange this, they will also store luggage if you have a late flight!Well this Hotel was everything i expected, as all floors have a different theme you chose which floor you want once you arrive... well i had already decided that i would go for the space/all white theme but unfortunately were told we were to pay extra per night if we wanted that floor so i was a bit disappointed and I didn't want to pay extra as we had already paid enough! Went for the japenese theme on the 10th floor in the end, had very large twin beds as a couple we wanted a bed we could cuddle up on rather than someone getting wedged in the gap but had a massive bath and shower, never had bath robes which i thought was odd as the pool was at the top on the 12th floor! Think the rooms should have had tea and coffee making facilities especially as it is a 5* hotel. The Restaurants lovely, mini bar very expensive 5euro for a diet coke. Night club up the top was Brilliant, lovely atmosphere again drinks a bit pricey but then with a 5* hotel comes those prices.Metro 2 mins away easy to use as its coloured coded so we could reach the centre easily. Lots of local supermarkets, bakery's, few restaurants. Lots of local people. Had a fantastic time and would return and stay at this hotel again.
Unless you absolutely need to be right in that anonymous bleak neighborhood, there is no reason to stay there. It's far from everything, right on a busy highway. You cannot even explore the different floors, designed by contemporary architects "to preserve the tranqulity of our guests". I assume the trucks and the buses passing under your window guarantee the much needed tranquility. The hotel is pretty dead. There are not many people around. The bar eas empty most of time, the restaurant - just a couple of tables were taken. Nothing to do with the effervescence of Paseo del Prado or the elegance of Salamanca..or the chic diversity of Chueca.
We chose this hotel quite by chance as we were meeting friends staying in this area. Wow what a treat; a unique design experience, great service, professional but friendly, a quick response on any problems (the battery died in our room safe so we couldn't open it - quickly sorted) shuttle bus to and from the airport, 5 minute walk to the metro. Check out the website for the design features!
We had a one night stay in Madrid and couldn't have asked for a better base. Great rooms overlooking the city with all kinds of gadgets to open windows and blinds etc. We arrived back late and enjoyed the club on the rooftop, then woke to a fantastic breakfast with everything you could possibly want to eat. to top it all the metro stop is just round the corner.
This is the second time I came to this wonderful place. It's close to the airport and this is the reason I stay in the night before traveling. Every floor of this hotel is designed by an artist. Which make it a place to visit. The restaurant is amazing and the fares are reachable with 100€/night.
