TRYP centro gran via is a basic 3 star hotel. It is 50meters from the metro station and numerous busses pass by it.The hotel is nice and clean with a great self service breakfast. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and all speak English. All and all it was a good experience.

Perfect location and hotel

I stayed in this hotel with my family (wife and two kids (15 and 10y old). Location is perfect! Walking distance to most of the attractions in Madrid, in the heart of city center. Tryp Gran Via was completely refurbished, it is modern and clean inside, the family room has a double bed with a bunk bed and the house keeping was kind enough to leave a funny pencil and notebook to my younger.Bathroom has a good size and deserves a 5 star for the ecologically attitude to keep liquid soap and shower gel in a bottle attached to the wall.Breakfast is also good, with plenty of option and on the same area there are some vending machines, just in case in you want some drinks, coffee and snacks for later.

On my way back home from the holiday down south of Spain, we stopped off in Madrid for a day, and stayed at this hotel. I will say that is was pleasant enough, and a good point for walking around many of the touristic areas of this city.POSITIVE POINTS:Staff… yes, they are friendly in every area. From reception to breakfast, passing to the cleaning staff, I cannot fault them in any way at all.The hotel is an old hotel, but reasonably well maintained. The room is comfortable, and has a warm feeling to it, despite being on the smaller side (especially the room for four people). The beds are relaxing, and the pillow choice is adequate, at least for me, I found one to my liking.Although the room faced the main street, it was surprisingly well soundproofed allowing a tranquil sleep. Also, must say that the air-con worked to perfection, silently.Bathroom was immaculate, and everything worked as expected, with perfect pressure and hot/cold water control. Amenities are acceptable for this class hotel.Best of all was the breakfast, with ample choice of various options, catering to all tastes, in my opinion. The central location is of course a plus, allowing you to walk to many tourist attractions within a short distance. Also near public transport options to take you anywhere in town.Internet worked flawlessly… excellent.NEGATIVE POINTS:No mini-bar. I was hoping for a calm drink in the room, after a day out in town… nothing!Although I did think that the hotel is OK, I would suggest that management have a look at renovating it a little. I understand the need to keep it a traditional hotel in Madrid, but with so many options, I fear that it will lose strength, if it is not updated.Parking is a disaster, and although the hotel offers a discount in a local parking lot… I still think that it was too expensive… WAY TOO expensive.SUMMING-UP:I liked it, being nice and central. Since I was staying a short time, it was good to be in the middle of many places to see. Bars and restaurants are all over, so that is a plus. Updating is needed… and hope they do improve in the near future.A decent choice, though… but is missing a little “class”.

central located hotel

very nice location in Granvia, just out of the metro station, you can find everything around the hotel. The hotel inside is an old building, high ceiling with A/C. Good breakfast choice in the morning. Only the old fashion Otis elevator need to be renovated.
