Westin Palace Madrid
- What's Included
The Palace is a gorgeous, large hotel built in early 1910's. It is a Madrid landmark. The location is perfect for tourists, with Prado Museum and Retiro Park very close by as well as many other attractions and shopping. Our room was very spacious with a great view. Our only real complaint was the mattress and pillows were overdue for replacement and did not meet our expectations. We also found the room a little noisy but to be expected in a hotel of this vintage. The lobby bar was lovely with great service and really good snacks, but be prepared to pay double or triple compared to surrounding establishments. The concierge service was very good and bang on with their restaurant recommendations and local knowledge, they somehow managed to get us a private room at a nearby restaurant to watch the Premier League football match. Thanks.
Great location for the Prado, train station, and local restaurants. Easy walking distance to the typical tourist sites. The breakfast was tasty, fresh, and well stocked. Plus they serve complimentary coffee in the lobby before breakfast starts for the early risers.
This is one of the best Westin hotels we have stayed. It is wonderful in so many ways. It is on a most ideal location, within walking distance to almost all the must see and do things in the CBD of Madrid such as the Nationals art museum (& many other museums), Parliament House, famous cafes and restaurants (mostly hidden in the adjacent streets, small boutique shops and beer tasting houses. One street up and you walk to happening Plaza Mayor of Madrid and find yourself drooling over the food offered at Mercado De San Miguel.Hotel is spacious and grand. Its corridors in between the rooms are some of the widest I have seen in European old buildings as such. Very tasteful decorated and quiet too.The cleaning crew is very prompt and does its job well. The breakfast is of highest standards too. You will certainly be spoilt by the choices. I have to say its many freshly made juices are some of my favourites. Oh and the hot chocolate and churros too of course. If you are here on a weekend, you can also try its high tea with opera performance. What a treat! There is not complaint but praises of the hotel from us.
Overall great hotel and I would most definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good hotel in a great location. The Westin Palace is ideally located within walking distance to the Prado. On my mom's arrival (who arrived in the morning), they let her check in early, which was great to know that she was able to settle in and relax a bit after a long flight, and prior to my arrival. The hotel itself is beautiful, with very helpful staff. The gym is well equipped and has more than plenty of equipment needed for a good workout, for those looking to continue their routine; bonus its open 24/7). I got breakfast included in our stay, and I'll definitely say that the breakfast was good, with lots of options, plus Champagne; worth getting. However, few down falls; the services at breakfast is lacking, or better yet almost non existent. After arriving it took forever to get a coffee; and a refill....well that never came all together. Luckily the next morning, I was able to disturb someone for a refill. As well, the difference that this hotel has from a full on five star I would say is; having a coffee machine in the room, and some teas, rather than having to call down to them and ordering the coffee. Turn down service, which is also most commonly found at the other Westin's or five stars that I've been to. Really it's very minor things, however having traveled so often, its those things that make the difference. I would still highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to Madrid.
One of the best two hotels in Madrid. Upscale. Top notch location, service, rooms, drinks and food. Décor is classic. Founded in 1912, The Palace has and is relevant in Madrid’s social and business life. There are lots of history entrapped in the walls of the hotel, some of it documented in the hotel’s bar. The most notable architectural accent is the dome located at “The Rotonda”, one of the hotel’s three restaurants. The Palace is located near the three art museums, el “Parque del Retiro”, and “La Neptuno” water fountain. The Metro, Madrid’s vast underground train system is within walking distance of the hotel. I highly recommend The Palace to families, tourists, and business travelers alike.
