Although our group (8) have been coming to Fuengirola for almost 15 years, we had never previously stayed at PYR.Although fairly close to our regular hotel (Las Palmeras) we found this part of Fuengirola much more to our liking. The rooms were spacious and clean and although we looked out to a block of appartments (side room), the palm tree lined street opposite, was traditional and generally relatively quiet.Breakfast was excellent and although we could not get our cars (2) in the hotel car park, we used the public car park opposite, which was absolutely fine.Safe was available and the 'appartment' had a small kitchen area, if you are that way inclined.(we are not)Local bars/restaurants were plentiful.Downsides, was only having one very large key (between two 61 year old men) and the presence of prostitutes pestering you after midnight especially if it was obvious that you were suffering from the influence of too much alcohol.Summarizing, if you stay in groups with your friends this is a good place for a base and we will definitely be back (higher the room the better)
We stayed Hotel Pyr Fuengirola beginning of the September for four nights and I can say that if I'm going to Fuengirola area again, hotel won't be Hotel Pyr.When we arrived to hotel, service was good at the reception. Immediately when we went to the room (234, two bedroom apartment) we smelled "old basement". Ok, we though that it is the air conditioning. Next day after a round of golf, we were sitting on the balcony and dribbling water sound started from the apartment. Roof was leaking from the other bathroom and whole sealing was wet. Also floor was full of water and we had to cover other bedroom with bath towels so it won't start to flood...Call to reception and 45 min later some repairmen came and explained that they have fixed the problem by changing some things upstairs. This of course told us why the room was smelling as "old basement". All the walls are probably wet and full of nasty things...We went to reception and asked that can we change room. Not possible (no free rooms). Can we change hotel? Not possible... Their solution was that they dried the sealing with towels and just painted the sealing on next day.We asked again what should be done? One of the bedrooms was so moisture and in unacceptable condition that we wanted some refund about it.They offered free breakfast for next day, total of 21€. We paid 800€ for this room...They said that the problem is fixed when they have painted again...We were really pissed off and decided to move beds away from this one room and sleep in the living room. Really nice when you have paid for the two bedroom apartment.Other notices: - "Kitchen" really outdated, drawers almost falling down etc etc...- When you are in the first 4 floors, noise from the streets can be huge- If there are neighbors who wants to stay up late, you will notice it, since there are no sound stopping in balcony doorBut, even though our visit was a disaster, something good...- Location, lots of bars and different shops nearby- Breakfast, 6,90€ -> value for money! As you can figure, this was first and last time when I'm going to visit this hotel...
On a three day golf holiday organised by Golf Breaks so this accomodation was allocated to us. I have checked the prices charged by the hotel and for what they charge I am amazed that anyone can complain. Very clean, (thanks to the maid), very central location, two comfortable beds and a sofa. The breakfast quality reflects the price you pay, even though there was a nice selection and served until 11.00am. I found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful and a special thanks to the young lady who works in the bar in the evenings as she recommended some nice restaurants and bars. The area where the hotel is located is the tourist centre of Fuengirola but if you take the 10 min walk to the old town ( Plaza Constitucion area) you can really enjoy the more authentic bars, restaurants and buildings. I would have no problem recommending this place for any other golf parties
I have just spent 3 nights in Fuengirola (Spain). The immediate area to our hotel (PYR) has some lively bars and many restaurants which can satisfy most cuisine requirements. The down side of this resort is the constant street sellers and more distasteful is the intimidating and aggressive prostitutes who try everything to get some business. The hotel room I stayed in (132) was positioned overlooking a dead end street which had several takeaway's and a few clubs, the muffled music noise from these clubs would go on to around 6am, this annoying constant noise was supported with shouting and general loud chatter which combined to give anyone a sleepless night. The other side of the road was an adjacent swimming pool which was also at 1st floor level which was rather intrusive once you opened your curtains. I spoke to the management when leaving the hotel to explain my distaste of my room location; they said that they would have changed my room which they may have done. I informed them that they would have known about rooms located in that area within the hotel and as such guests should have been notified on arrival and been given the opportunity to have a room in a less chaotic and distasteful environment. Management don't care there is always some mug who will takes those room to which I was one. A hotel to avoid !
Stayed here for 4 days with golf society . Rooms were good and maid service excellent . On arrival rooms were not available until 3 00 pm but they prepared one room for us to store clubs and suitcases , and get changed . Breakfast was not served until 8 00am which meant a rush a couple of morning when we were being picked up at 8 30. So a earlier breakfast time would be better , but on the whole the Pyr is a good hotel and centrally situated for bars and restaurants
