I was on a short break to fuengirola with 19 other girls the youngest being 17 and the oldest myself at 66 . I booked 4 rooms and 3 of them were absolutely fine no problems. The fourth room number 116 was really not suitable for 4 people it was very small so I asked at reception if we could upgrade and we were willing to pay extra . The lady from reception was very rude and said that all rooms were taken and that they were all the same size of which I new on both those accounts was not the fact . In our room the glass in the table had been broken, the fridge was missing and she would not believe us till she came to look for herself , then one of the girls cut her foot on glass from the broken table so we asked them to hoover up which they refused to do so , they did bring a fridge and table but no apology was given , which I personally think was not acceptable.
We booked a studio room here for four nights, but upon arrival we were told this room was not available and that we were to be upgraded to an apartment room on the first floor. The room itself was very spacious with two large sofa beds in the lounge area and a separate bedroom. The kitchenette was small but adequate for our needs, and we also had a microwave. Although the room itself was perfect, we found that due to its position there was little to no sun and being directly above the shops and bars meant it was very noisy at night. Two days after requesting to move rooms we were given a studio room on the fourth floor which partly overlooked the pool - the balcony was a great sun-trap!After settling in we went down to the pool area which is on the first floor. There were plenty of sunbeds and during the winter months (up until March) the pool is heated, which made swimming very pleasant and a lot more bearable! The rooms were cleaned everyday and toiletries (soap, shampoo & conditioner) were provided. We opted for bed and breakfast which was the typical buffet-style spread with cereals, fruit, pastries and cooked options available. The staff were very accommodating and provided us with gluten-free bread on request. Onto the hotel itself. The location is perfect and is surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants. It's about a ten minute walk from Fuengirola train station which is ideal when travelling to and from Malaga airport. The bus station is only a short walk from the train station. We visited Mijas and Marbella from here on the M-220 bus which only cost a few euros. Despite the issue we had regarding the room upon checking in, the staff worked to resolve this and overall we had a very pleasant stay. The service, food and facilities on offer are great considering the price. I was initially a bit concerned about staying here after reading some reviews, but I would be more than happy to stay here again in the future.
Having only spent one night in PYR Fuengirola I wouldn't normally take the time to write a review however I feel I need to warn others as to why you will either love it or hate it. Arriving on a late flight we checked in after midnight looking forward to a good nights sleep. Check in went smoothly & when we got to our room on the first floor it was clean but very dated with several repair jobs poorly done in the bathroom, all of this we could have overlooked had it not been for the fact the room we were in made sleep impossible. Our room was at the back of the hotel on the first floor facing onto a back alley where several bars & restaurants operate into the small hours leading to noise in the form of singing, loud arguing etc. This was also accompanied by the persistent hum of air conditioning units at the back of these bars. We were never told this was a possibility when we checked in. We did not get a special rate for such a poorly located room but paid the same as those on upper floors at the front of the hotel who write complementary reviews. We complained but were met with jaded indifference as clearly this is a feature of these rooms.Breakfast was fine & I'm sure this hotel has a lot to offer, it has a great location & is very clean but I do think that guests should be advised in advance about these rooms.
Just spent a week at this hotel and found it to be a very clean and quiet place, rooms were adequate and housekeeping were round everyday, sitting right across from the marina it had everything quite close to it,Inc the bus station and the train station, plenty of bars and restaurants near by.hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and would stay here again,it also has an outdoor heated pool
The PYR has a great location and the staff are helpful when you ask.The price is cheap for such a central location at around £37.50 for a night and the main bar has been refurbished and staff again friendly and quick to serve.
