Spent a week here during the midterm break. We were afraid after reading some of the reviews but we could not have been happier! We were on half board basis. The breakfast was lovely every morning (they even managed to vary it a bit each morning) & the food at night was fantastic (great variety & fresh). The staff was fabulous. I can't wait to go back again soon
this is a tough one may sound like a contradiction . the hotel is ok staff were friendly credit to the cleaners of the rooms anyway .we stayed for 10 nights nice quick check in .the 2 single beds are like concrete swapped with kids lol well iam heavier .room good size clean yes everything is dated bit of a fusty smell on sofa beds etc .very limited pots and pans etc but we were half board .now then food breakfast room staff great food poor boring cold evening meal worse poor choice even poorer for kids and all luke warm gave up with evening meal after 3 nights .now here is the big problem with our stay on the 3rd morning at breakfast I was only reaching for a butter from a dish and I got a electric shock this tripped the power in the dinning room I was shook up a bit and felt a bit off it . as I went to sit down a member of the dinning staff asked if I was ok .she said this has happened many times to the staff but the management don't care .that is disgusting she told me to complain to reception this I did .they shut me down with yes we know we are sorting it no sorry or am I ok .I tried to carry on the conversation but not interested went on to an other customer !.so I emailed them ignored email but was told the next day by breakfast staff they had all been asked which one of them had told me to complain!.I emailed again towards end of holiday but nothing .I suppose I could have kicked off but why ruin our holiday because of their lack of service .if that one thing in my opinion (major ) had not happened I probably would have stayed again . its just a good job it was not either of my kids .I do not blame the staff I blame management if you look at older posts they sacked all the staff a while ago no reason just to get cheaper staff I did not know this until after I booked . pay cheap get cheap I suppose .went to sunset beach for a beer packed out solid but 1 1/2 times more a pint but if people are prepared to pay it point proven .I also recommend harrys restro and harrys restro infusion .old village pueblo la nina restaurant 3 tapas drink bread 7.50 euro nice .cable cars brill not cheap but good if you like heights .sorry for long waffle cheers
My family and I had a week in the hotel over easter on half board basis. Hotel in quiet area about 30 mins walk from marina. The hotel and our room was clean.. Kids enjoyed the pool and the hotel is across the road from the beach, Supermarket is close by. Limited choice for food though it was generally good, though very limited range in desserts and no ice cream for kids. Dining room was quite small and dark. Entertainment was naff.. Staff very helpful and room were cleaned every day. We had a good cheap holdiay. Not 4 star but decent enough. We initially had booked a 1 bedroom appartment and I was expecting a double sofa bed though what we got was a sofa chair which my 2 kids were to sleep on.! My wife complained and staff said she could not do anything about it which was a very poor start to holiday. I complained the following day and we got an upgrade to a 2 bedroom appartment which was great. I am not sure if I would stay there again.
Well..... where to start! My wife and I spent 8 days at this establishment...... we will not be back. From the outside it looks really tired and run down. Most of the staff but particularly the receptionists are grumpy and bordering on rude. But then if you look at the chairs they sit on even they are threadbare. Wifi...... it's virtually non existent, and definitely not available in room 308. Apparently it is available in some rooms at a charge, €10 per device per week. Breakfast is down to luck, some days warm and some days cold, unusual to see vegetables and a rice concoction next to buns, next to the cereal first thing in the morning and I think it very different to taste really sweet scrambled eggs, not entirely sure it was meant to taste like that. The room itself was only surpassed in its cleanliness by the filth of the pool area and particularly the sun beds. We witnessed one morning as the pool attendant "cleaned" the whole area with cold water, a mop and bucket, with water that he lifted from the pool!! That, to say the least, left a strange murkiness in the pool!!Oh, it's the first place that we have ever stayed in where the shower was never warm but the air conditioning was only ever warm or hot. We reported both to reception only to be told they were working fine. The bed linen and towels whilst changed regularly were in tatters. I really believe that the mattress was actually made out of slate, it was certainly hard enough. We have posted some photos we took in the room, so you can decide for yourself as to whether or not this is the type of establishment you would want to stay in.
After reading some negative reviews we were unsure what to expect on arrival at the Vistamar. However any doubts were soon dispelled. Our apartment was spacious, well equipped and was spotless. The maids visited every day and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We travelled as a party of 6 (3 double apartments) and were all delighted with the rooms allocated. Room 602 had a large balcony with lovely views of the pool, sea and mountains. Yes, the hotel needs updating but we felt we received excellent value for money. The WiFi and entertainment was poor but the Benalmadena Palace next door had excellent WiFi and good entertainment. There wasn't a huge choice of food in the dining room but we were always happy with our meals. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from a large supermarket, handy for bus stops, and a few minutes from the beach. We would definitely return to the Vistamar and can not understand how some people can berate it. If you want 5 star accommodation this is not the hotel for you but it certainly provides good value for money.
