Where to start , positives- majority of staff friendly although not always helpfulNegatives - on arrival to room (booked for 3 adults) only 2 pillows/towels ,although an extra 1 was quickly added on request. Pillows were only about 3inches thick towels and bedding well worn and grubby looking. Although I always make my bed every other hotel I've been to still remakes to their standard, in this hotel the beds weren't made once and neither was the bedding changed.I have to say though towels were changed every time left in the bath or requested . The sofa bed on which my daughter had to sleep was dirty and thread bare with hardly any padding feeling as if you were sat on the metalOn the balcony there were only 2 patio chairs even though booked for 3 and on my parents balcony there was only 1 for a double room and they were told there were no spare to give them (even though there was evidently empty rooms). The furniture that was there was stinking dirty too.The kitchen was very poorly equipped and what was there was very shabby , no kettles in rooms my parents had to boil water in saucepans as mentioned by previous reviewers There were crumbs in the sink and that's where they stayed for 4 days so very little cleaning took place all week There was no money exchange available as advertisedAlthough we payed little for this holiday and my son kept telling me you get what you pay for, I have been on many budget holidays and they were like palaces compared to this one They should never be displaying 4*status
Thoroughly enjoyed our five night stay at the Vistamar. The hotel is a little tired but it is probably classed as a 4 Star due to its location and that there are lifts. The staff at reception were extremely helpful, and dealt with any request we had extremely promptly. The room was a decent size with an immaculate bathroom. Food was okay not a lot of choice but it is not a big hotel and there were not that many guests to cater for so perhaps a set menu rather than a buffer would have been better. Drinks in the hotel were very reasonable a glass of Cava 2.5 Euros (2 glasses for the same price at happy hour). Just needs a bit of a refurbishment, but other than that really excellent value for money in a good position.
Just come home we had a ball staff very friendly hotel very clean room was cleaned every day the food was ok something to eat on each meal the bar food was lovely and cheap so was the beer we went as a gang of friends for what we paid for this hotel it was very good value for money just go and enjoy anyone with walking difficulties should give this hotel a miss
I always try to give an honest and frank review so here goes;Booked a last minute short break to the Vistamar. Certainly not a 4* hotel more like a 3*We found most of the staff friendly and approachable. Arrived at midday and room not ready so put bags in luggage room which was jam packed and went out to explore.Quite disappointed with the room. We had a 1 bedroom apartment which was very tired and needed an upgrade. On entering the apartment, it was rather small with a small kitchenette that had a 2 ring electric hob, microwave, fridge, which needed a really good clean but worked, a couple saucepans, a few bits of cutlery and 4 plates and bowls, 3 small cups n saucers, 3 glasses, all which were chipped and not very clean., lots of water marks on glasses and dusty. No kettle supplied in room. If you go to reception you can hire one. I just used a saucepan to boil water for tea. There is a double sofa bed in the living area, which we did not use so cannot comment on this but was not very comfy to use as a sofa. The cover was very dusty and looked like it could use a good wash. There is a table and 4 chairs which was ok but thought it was a bit too big for the room. A glass top coffee table and a TV that only had a few English channels, but we weren't there to watch TV. Patio door to balcony that looked out over the road, which was quiet and had a table and 2 chairs that had seen better days. The bedroom had 2 single beds pushed together and the top covers were all ripped and worn! So was not impressed by this! Beds were comfy and did manage to sleep fairly well. Wardrobe with draws and plenty of hanging space and this is where the safe is housed but we did not use this. I think you can rent this from reception. Dressing table with mirror.Bathroom was lovely and roomy with shower over bath. Lots of hot water and a good powerful shower. Bit grubby around edges of the bath and shower screen.Towels changed daily but beds only made once! Very dusty! We stayed half board. Should of stayed either B&B or Self catering as the food was not brilliant. Very little choice and not very hot.Breakfast was your usual cereals, toast, bacon, eggs and sausages. There was tinned fruit and yogurt and your cold meats and cheese. Tea and coffee was out of a machine and there was juice from another machine.Evening meal was a meat and fish dish, chips, potatoes and veg with either a rice dish or pasta. Selection of salad and a soup. There was a couple of dessert and ice cream. We managed to have something to eat every day, but found the food was only lukewarm. The bar in the evening was quite nice with background music from a cd which was played every night on a loop. There was no evening entertainment but this was probably due to the time of the year. We found the bar prices to be quite reasonable but there are plenty of bars near the hotel for cheaper booze if that's what you want. There was a couple of pool tables and a small room with a couple machines in (games room). The swimming pool looked nice, but didn't use this as was too cold. There are a few sun beds around the pool that looked rather tired. You have to walk down quite a hill to get to the main road and then cross over and your at the seafront. If you walk to your left there is a lovely promenade to walk down with lots of bars and restaurants. You will be spoilt for choice. If you carry on to the end of the promenade and up the steps, turn right you will be at the marina. Again this is where you will find more restaurants and bars.We enjoyed our time in Benalmadena but would not return to this hotel as we feel it needs a bit of money spent on it to bring it upto the 4*'s it is advertised as.
Front entrance up a steep hill located on the 4th floor, not an easy walk so most people entered thru the garage on street level. Reception people not professional. Many times had to wait while they had conversations with other staff. Sometimes helpful, sometimes not at all. Limited services available. Used services at hotel across the road. No hot water the day we arrived. Bed linen completely awful, old and desperately needs to be replaced. Blanket dirty. Pillow was no more than 3 inches thick so bring your own Sofa/pull-out was caved in. No kitchen linen available for kitchenette. Bathroom bath towel torn and shredded. Need I continue?! One good thing is the buffet restaurant for dinner. Very handy, decent food at a decent price. If none of the above would bother you then this is a budget holiday across from the sea in a wonderful area of southern Spain.
