Very poor experience - don't go here!

This place is advertised as a 4* hotel - it may well have been 30 years ago but that was probably when it was last updated! Shabby, dated, basic facilities, basic food, poor customer service.Although we were only here for four nights it will go down as one of my worst holiday experiences. We were downgraded to a studio apartment which was located in the basement. Décor very shabby and half the facilities were not running. On arrival, the room looked and smelled like a squat - stale smoke ingrained into the bed (not just the bedding), sofa, curtains - essentially anything fabric. The shower was faulty, as was the television (not a major issue on its own but along everything else...).On raising the issues with the duty manager, we were simply told the hotel was full and nothing could be done.We booked though Travel Republic - who were absolutely great by the way - and raised the issue with them immediately. The following afternoon TR informed us that we had been downgraded due to overbooking and the right room had been found - I only hope someone else didn't suffer as a result! It was just a shame we had to wait in reception with all our luggage for almost two hours before we were given the key.

Cheap and cheerful

Just back yesterday after a week here. Only booked 3 weeks ago tor a bargain price and to be honest was dreading this holiday after reading the reviews.Yes, had to ask for the aforementioned pillows, toaster and kettle too. Got everything we asked for, eventually!BUT what this little place lacked more than made for up in atmosphere.A few tweaks here and there and this place could be amazing, my mum, daughter and I ended up having one of our best ever holidays. The staff are SO nice (OK a little laid back but never rude). The pool bar staff were lovely and very friendly.Use the lift to level P to avoid the hill walk.Fantastic supermarket a stones throw away.Don't get expensive transfers, approx 30 euros in a taxi.A smallish and intimate friendly apartohell.Went last month to the Med Playa Bali and honestly what the Vista Mar lacks in up to date offerings it is so much better in atmosphere. If you want a bargain holiday in the sun I definitely reccommend here.

Nice location but that's about all

Where do I start? We are a family of 4 yet this hotel must've thought 3 pillows and 3 towels would suffice. We had to wait 3 days for the extra pillow to arrive. The room was OK I suppose. We was on level 3 with a small balcony. The cleaners came in every 2/3 days but only cleaned the bathroom. The bed linen was changed once in 10 days. The tap water went off one afternoon and we had to wait until 8pm for it to be turned back on so we could shower and go out for our evening meal.We then woke up to no water again! I told reception at 7am but they was telling all the guests it'll be back on in 20 came back on at 2pm!! No apologies for the inconvenience and of course the manager wasn't there. The sun lounger's....a lot was broken and dirty. There's 130 odd rooms but only 60 sun loungers so guests was putting their towels down around 8am just to find the ones that wasn't broken. The pool cleaners use the pool water to mop with! One of the cleaners must have thought she was hilarious standing on the bars balcony with a hose pipe aiming at everyone's towels! Oh and there is random black bits in the pool floating around. I think it was the mould in the grout coming away as the cleaner was scrubbing it away above the waterline every morning. Your not allowed to take your own drinks down to the pool and the bars overpriced. €2.75 a pint of beer, €1.75 for a glass of fizzy pop and they was charging €1.50 for the same bottles of water that I was buying from the supermarket next-door for 12 cents! There's a man doing a BBQ next to the pool (I'll upload a picture of the first aid room where he was 'prepping' the food)That was overpriced too. You need to hold your nose walking passed the bins when exiting though the carpark. They was emptied but whatever had dropped on the floor/leaked was never cleaned up. The evening entertainment was near none existent and an embarrassment. Some of the guests was going into other hotels which says it all. If you look around the hotel at the fixtures and fittings whether broken or working you can see the hotel used to be a 4* but as it stands now I don't think it should be. It has potential with a bit of cash spending. The area itself is great with loads of bars, restaurants and shops nearby.

Short sun break

Ideal location with a supermarket next door and beach across the road.Lovely walk from hotel to the marina with few stops on route for a drink or 3.Hotel pool is a good size plenty of sunloungers available with outside bar.

We paid £1600 for a weeks stay half board the first week of the school holidays for 4 of us. This is a bargain for the time of year but the hotel reflects the price.Rooms- a comfortable 1 bed apartment. Not always cleaned well but someone came in and emptied bin and changed towels every day. Staff- most were ok. A lady on reception spent every second of her shift talking on her mobile and just ignored anyone trying to get her attention. Bar staff by the pool extremely rude. My daughter cut her foot in the pool and when i asked for a plaster they just said no. Same in the bar upstairs. I walked up to reception and although i was given a plaster they weren't interested about her injury or how it was caused.Food- Disgusting 0/10 pork chop every night with a potato and veg, no gravy. Chips, bread some sort of fish and once we got chicken. A mediocre choice of salad. Breakfast was vile. Fatty bacon and hard beans. Limited choice if cereals and a bit of fruit. We ate out loads. Its cheap enough too. Highly recommend cocos just up from hotel.Overall I had a lovely holiday but food let the hotel down. Id go again if it was as cheap as i paid though.
