I had booked to stay here but when I found out it was on a very steep hill, I had to pay £50.00 to cancel, but boy I'm glad I did, anyone with mobility or chest problems this hotel is not for you. Its probably a lovely hotel but not for me.
Very nice hotel in good location. 30 minute walk to the marina, but well worth it, as it's lovely. Great restaurants there and, closer to the hotel, down by the beach. I've read reviews complaining about the hill to walk up to get to the hotel - well, it's nothing, not very steep and only about 100 yards, so I don't know what the fuss is about! The apartment was spacious and the balcony provided a view of both the pool and the sea. The weather was amazing, so all-in-all, we had a great three days.
Stayed here 27 Sept - 4th October with a friend. We arrived at 9am I didn't think our rooms would be ready as it was early, but to my surprise they were. On first glance the room looked clean, and although small, it was fine for what we needed; a small kitchenette with a table & chairs, a sofa bed in the lounge part, nice bathroom & a small bedroom. We went to the balcony for a look, we had asked for a sea view, and if you looked down the road we did have one. We also asked for a quiet room not overlooking the pool, which we also got. All in all first impressions were good. Once unpacked we stopped for a coffee on the balcony (kettle provided, we had brought coffee & milk with us). We then noticed the Air con machine thing was on our balcony, it was noisy and was blowing out hot air so it was not that nice to sit there! The plastic chairs were also not comfortable at all. Once we had stayed a night or 2, we started to notice the apartment wasn't as good as we first thought. The beds were the hardest I have ever slept on! My friend’s was the same, like sleeping on a board. I resorted to padding my bed with the 2 blankets in the wardrobe. My friend ended up lining her bed with her beach towel & sarong every night! We considered the sofa bed, but we had no bedding to fit it! We also noticed this was quite lumpy and had poles sticking out. The next night when I went to go to bed I realised my sheets had been taken away& I was just left with the itchy blankets. I called reception to bring me a sheet, but I was told he was the only worker in the hotel & I had to come & get what I wanted myself from reception. I wasn't happy as was ready for bed! Def not a 4* service! The shower was awful, water came out everywhere but the shower head & the hook on the wall didn't hold the head up. They didn't provide any toiletries in the bathroom, there was a soap dispenser but it didn't work. The towels were really worn & thin. After about 3 days, we noticed the room wasn't actually being cleaned. We had one fresh towel, the bin emptied, and a new toilet roll, but that was all that ever happened. By day 4 I had to sweep the floor with a magazine!! We aren't overly messy, but had nothing provided to clean with, & the cleaner didn’t clean, so by the time we left, it didn’t feel very nice in the apartment. We had to buy a decent sized mug each & a tea towel & just had to rinse our cups out each day. We also noticed 2 of the plugs sockets didn’t work, so we struggled to plug in more than 2 items in the whole apartment. The light switch by my friend’s bed didn’t work, then the lock on the balcony door fell apart & we couldn’t lock it. In fairness it was fixed when we got back later that eve, but then it was stuck shut! We didn’t really use the balcony anyway or we had to turn the aircon off inside. The balcony also was never cleaned; it had coffee spilt out there from where I tripped over the step on day 1, which was still there when we left! The tv did work, but the remote was broken, only channels 1-4 are English speaking, so its news or vintage music tv (which was good lol). Free wifi provided in the bar area, but only went in there one night, it wasn't very busy, had some live music on the terrace (luckily our room faced the road, not this side!). Pool: There were always sun loungers free, but they were old and uncomfortable so we only came to the pool area once; after sleeping on a brick at night, we went to the beach & hired a sunbed with a memory foam mattress for 5 euro's most days, so we could get some sleep in comfort!! Also, it says you can’t bring your own drinks to the pool, but in the bar it says you can’t take drinks to the pool??! Pool bar was open once or twice that I noticed, but not always. Pool seemed clean, but I didn't go in.Food/ Drink: We were B&B, and after the first day, I only went to breakfast once more, my friend didn't go again. Coffee was awful, eggs were hit & miss, I don't eat meat so can’t comment, but they seemed to run out of most things by 9.30, so you had to wait for more. My friend just wanted fruit, but they only had tinned peaches on offer. Very basic. Def not worth paying for B&B when there are loads of cafes doing breakfast until late only mins away. I ordered from the bar once, food was basic but good (omelette, salad, chips about 4.50e), they also offer a take away service where can you can ring your order from the room. My friend rang at 9.45pm but was told the Kitchen was closed, even though it says orders until 10pm. Had a quick look at evening menu in the restaurant, wasn’t to our taste so never tried it. The house wine was like vinegar, and brandy was weak or watered down.Overall the location is great as near to everything you need, only 20 mins from airport. The beach was literally at the end of the road, a few mins walk. We were on quite a steep hill, but realised you can get the lift in the hotel down to the car park, which brings you out at the bottom of the hill, and you can enter this way coming back up until about 11pm. There is also a gate in the garden but this was locked so we couldn’t use it. As you walk to the beach, there are a selection of pubs, cafes, and shops where you can get most essentials. If you walk along the sea front to the marina, there are lots of restaurants, cafes, bars & shops along the way. Bus is 1.50 euros, every 20 mins if you don't fancy the walk, about 8 euros in a taxi to the marina. The staff were friendly, but the actual hotel needs some finishing touches and some luxury adding somewhere. It is meant to be a four star, but this is no-where near that!! There was just no comfort in this hotel anywhere, and I feel we paid over the odds for such basic accommodation.
This hotel was perfect for families or couples. The music in the bar finished at 11pm and the place was quite after that. There was a nice pool and a garden to sit in if you didn't want to be alongside of the pool. The apartment was perfect for a couple. Nice size. Lovely big bathroom. Comfy beds. Shutter on the window. Nice little balcony. Table to eat at. Fridge, microwave, two ring hob. Easy to use air conditioning. The staff were friendly and helpful. Most had a good amount of English. Free wifi in the bar. I would have liked free wifi in the apartment too. There was a restaurant, which we didn't use but we were told by people who did that it was nice. It was buffet style. The location was good enough. It was a short walk to the beach. A supermarket was really near. Bus stops to other destinations were near by. There were plenty of places to eat, drink and shop nearby
Stayed here for a long weekend with my friend, and although I can't fault the apartment it's self as it was very clean and fully equipped with what we needed not very happy with the customer service, as found reception staff quite rude, weeks before we went on holiday I emailed the hotel asking for a late checkout as our flight was at night and was assured to ask on arrival at the hotel and we would be accommodated and to pay a little extra, well from the minute we arrived we asked and was told to ask on the last day, again we done this and was rudely told no! Showed them the email but they weren't interested! I fully understand they need the rooms for other people but don't get why they string you along right to the last minute instead of saying straight away! So wasn't a happy bunny waiting around all day! I'll visit another hotel next time
