Location: In Torremolinos, directly on El Bajondillo Beach, within walking distance to bars, restaurants and shopping located in the centre of Torremolinos via the seaside promenade.
My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights on a half board basis. It was our first time in Torremolinos, Costa del Sol and here are a few lines about our stay at this hotel.Location – the hotel is right on the beach separated by the promenade, and is about 15-20 minutes away from the airport if the traffic is ok.Rooms – we stayed in one of their House suites, which was very spacious and modern with a separate living area. The living area had a sofa bed in and could be completely separated by using a sliding door, perfect for families with children. Our room had two TVs, a hair dryer, a fridge, safe and a big Bluetooth speaker. The shower could do with a shelf to put our things on.Food – fantastic choice of international foods. I personally really enjoyed all type of grilled fish including their speciality – grilled sardines and of course paella. There was nothing I didn’t like and my favourites were sushi, fish, antipasti and a fresh chocolate croissant every day for breakfast. However, some dishes were cold, especially when you came for your diner too early, plus it got very busy around 21.00.Entertainment – if you like dance music then I’d suggest you head down to the PlayBar. Every afternoon/evening you experienced a different performance (DJ’s, saxophonist, violinist, percussionist and more). There’s lots happening in the morning too (Pilates, salsa, trampolining …).Gym/Fitness – we didn’t have a chance to explore their gym but I managed to go for a morning run twice during our stay. The promenade is full of runners, people power walking or just walking their dogs. Go out first thing in the morning before it gets too hot Wifi – is ok. Sometimes the connection was very slow, especially when outside. I had 4G on for the most of the time.Service – the restaurant staff work very hard as do the staff in the PlayBar. I think they could do with another person that would walk around the gardens by the Canalla tacos and tequila truck and offered service there, especially in the afternoon during the live entertainment. A couple of times it was quicker to go a little shop on the promenade to get a drink rather than waiting to be served or to go to a very busy bar.Security –Really Bad. I think that’s something that is totally lacking at this place. Anyone can walk in through the main entrance or the back gate (access to the beach) and go for breakfast, even if not staying here. All you need to do is to push a bit harder and you are out/in and using the premises that most of us paid lots of money for. I have seen locals coming in and using sun beds and then being kicked out. This is not acceptable as obviously there isn’t enough sun beds for the hotel guests. There is no way to differentiate the hotel guests from the public – this process should be looked. It looked like the back gate is open every afternoon for the public to come in and enjoy the entertainment. One time it got out of hand when a group of loud and drunk Brits turned up and started flying their drone around. This should not be allowed (privacy)! My overall experience is very positive. The staff are very friendly and the hotel is very clean with only a couple of issues that they should look at. Would I come back again? Yes, I’d come back with a group of friends to have a fun holiday, but unfortunately, I’d never bring my children here due to the major security issues.
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights from 3rd to 6th Aug17, Our check in was very smooth. The front office persons, Eva and Manuelle were very helpful. We booked tours with Julia Bus and they did not allow us to board the bus. While talking to them, they were rude and told to take help from someone who can speak Spanish. The hotel people, Eva and Manuelle helped us talking to them in Spanish. Finally, Julia did not budge and that was another story. We ordered room service for 2 nights and the service was quite fast and efficient. Our room was quite comfortable and we were very happy with the AC. Breakfast spread was very huge and there were several items to choose from the display. We found this place convenient to go to train station. We have not done Caminito Del Ray and Alhambra Palace. Hence, we plan to return to Malaga and will stay here definitely.
I booked this hotel for a one night stay via hotels.comOn arrival the hotel is presentable and after a 10 minute wait I was checked in. The hotel insists on a credit card swipe upon check in. The receptionist did try to charge me again for the stay despite prepaying ! I was given room 300. However upon arrival in the room I found that the main view was a rock wall and only a small view of the sea, despite it being advertised as an ocean view. A quick call to reception and I was offered another room in "the other block"This time I was given room 478. The room was a twin but I'd given up on further changes. The room is pretty dated and the cleaning was not great. I found hairs in the bathroom and half used bottles of water in the fridge. The rest of the hotel was of a good standard and has a lovely feel about it. The pool area is pretty small for the amount of guests. I had two meals, a snack at the pool which was very good and a buffet breakfast (12€ extra)Check out was simple and he concierge was really good in helping with transport since the taxis had gone on strike.
On this visit we upgraded to The Level. Found the private Lounge/Garden area very pleasant. However although open to 11pm all the premium spirits seemed to be taken away by 10.30pm. So when returning to the hotel for a night cap found the drink choice to be limited to wine only. Bedrooms were clean & well stocked with tea/coffee & bathroom requirements. Pool towels could be changed daily without charge. We find this hotel very well located & use the hotel's cliff lift regularly, but found this not really advertised within the hotel. Will return again but would have to see if the extra costs for The Level are worth while.
First off, apologies. My camera packed in on the last day before I could take some snaps.Always like to take some photos.Damn.We visited Torremolinos last year but opted for another hotel as we thought the rooms in the Melia were looking a bit tired.Big mistake but that's another story. We noticed on the hotel website this year that they have recently refurbished the rooms,so being our favourite hotel in Torremolinos decided to check it out.We spent a great week from July 28th until August 4th there. We weren't disappointed as they have done a fantastic job.Gone are the old carpets, the old furniture and the bath.In comes the light wood flooring, white minimalist(boutique style)furniture and a brilliant walk in shower with traditional shower head and the big square plate to really soak away the aches of a hard days sunbathing! The bathroom also has switched lighting so you don't have to illuminate it all, just certain parts. It does look though as if the upgrade in both blocks is from floors 5-9 inclusive.Floors 1-4 look like the old standard rooms still. The new rooms really are bright and cheerful.Free of charge generous sized safe in the room and they've also added a kettle, two cups and tea/coffee,sugar etc for the morning cuppa on the balcony.Oh,and two metal teaspoons are provided to save you buying the white plastic ones that melt when you stir your drink! They have the usual minibar in the room but you can still squeeze milk, juice and a couple of beers etc in it.Didn't eat in the hotel as we were room only but the staff were all happy, smiling and professional.Well done Melia Costa Del Sol.We're coming back next year for our fifth visit and we're staying for two weeks,or maybe forever. It's a great hotel and within easy reach of everything in Torremolinos.Check it out.Highly recommended.
