Sol Don Pablo
- What's Included
A great holiday started with a great hotel and room loads of sunbed space and comfortable sunbeds, plenty of bars around and loads of shops. Good walks along the carehuela also up san Miguel street to the bars at independence square.
I recently stayed here and was charged twice. I chose to pay in full when I booked on the don pablo site. However when I arrived at the hotel they said they had received no money and it's only for security they take the credit card number online. I shows them the confirmation bi"it this was still no good!!! So I payed again stupidly believing them. An hour later I contacted my bank who indeed confirmed I was charged twice! I immediately went to reception who were so ignorant and would not listen to me and said come back in the evening. Still no satisfaction the evening. I was obviously worried over this as it is already expensive enough. I rang my bank again who gave me a code to quote to them confirming it had gone through. I went straight down the following morning and as soon as the grumpy male receptionist heard this he asked for my card. No sorry no nothing just pure ignorant so be aware if going there!!!
I am currently in the hotel Sol Don Pablo and enjoying my stay ... after reading several bad reviews I was unsure what to expect but I have been very impressed. Those bad reviews were very misleading as all aspects of this hotel are good. I believe some people want to moan about trivial things .... the reception staff were excellent, especially Patricia, as are the cleaners and restaurant staff, location is great and you have free access to the other two adjoining hotels in the group.
Our 2nd year here and glad we came back again. I came here with my husband and 10 year old daughter and really looked forward to returning to see the changes. It is such an impressive looking hotel once you come in through the entrance - the front entrance is quite small, but its like a tardis. Very fresh looking as had been refurbished since we came last year. We had a lovely room with walk in shower. Very clean and was lovely looking out over pools, sea and the other hotels. We had to pay a bit more for the partial sea view but always worth it. Location is great. Literally cross the road to get to the lovely beach. Near all the bars, restaurants and endless shops. It is so central. We walked to the marina in Benalmadena which is a gorgeous walk for about 50 minutes along the promenade. Old town of Torremolinos is a few minutes walk and you could either walk up the steps or get the lift. Us old folk wanted to walk but the young 10 year old was 'too tired' to walk so we ended up getting the lift for 50 cents each. Shops, bars, restaurant and a Costa Coffee!! Thought I was hallucinating. It was like a mirage!!Glad to say that although inevitably there are the usual sunbed early risers who must get their particular sunbeds in a particular location, strolling out at 9am it was still possible to get sunbeds if you aren't too fussed where to sit. We decided this year that we were going to sit in different locations most days so the pressure was off, and we could actually have a holiday where the alarm was not going off at 6.30 to join a massive queue like in some hotels. It was most civilized here :-) The back entrance to the hotel is guarded by a security guard (as is the front) and it is so lovely walking through the gardened area, going through the arches, seeing the small fountain and hey presto, you are on the beach! The restaurant is very spacious and clean, and tables not crammed together. Plentiful buffet with variety to suit most people. Yes, after a few days the food does become samey (as it does in most hotels) and its a good idea to go out for a meal to another location to break up the monotony. We were half-board for this reason, and we could swap from having a meal at dinner time to having lunch. There was no problem with that and meant that we were not missing out on a meal in hotel but could go somewhere else for a change in the evening.Breakfasts were my favourite. As much as you liked. Omelettes, fried eggs and pancakes made fresh while you wait, usual hot food buffet, pastries, cakes, biscuits, rolls, bread slices, cheese, meats, cereals and fresh and dried fruit. Great stuff.Staff work really hard in this industry. Most were polite, helpful and quick to clear plates. Most days I saw other staff who I'm pretty sure were not waiters, helping to clear up at meal times. I couldn't help but think perhaps management were taking turns to help to see how things were at meal times. The new Beach Club is really attractive and provided another seating area for different entertainment during the evening to that of the entertainment in the terrace bar. Food was served during the day for those who wanted a meal/snacks/drinks. One thing to note, that if you are not all inclusive, buying 3 toasted sandwiches cost £27! Literally 2 slices of toast with cheese and tuna cost £9. No salad or accompaniments when we asked to take them away to have by our sun loungers. So very pricey. However, there were 2 supermarkets opposite each end of the hotel, so was far cheaper to buy lunch there and bring back to sun lounger if so desired. The entertainment team were a bunch of pleasant and engaging young men and women. They gave the impression that they liked people which was an advantage I suppose! Zumba, dance classes, pilates, yoga, ping pong, spinning, spinning in the pool, water aerobics and water volley ball to name a few of the daytime activities. The team were never in your face and you could join in if you wanted to but you were never pushed into anything. There was a mini club but our daughter never wanted to go so I can't comment on it. But it looked busy.Pools were lovely. There was a life guard on duty who kept an eye on activites and stopped any mucking around that looked like it could be harmful. He/she were doing their job to keep us safe. Its a great hotel, last time I mentioned the atmosphere was warm and it still is. Love this hotel. Looking forward to hopefully returning next year.
the hotel as always was everything I could wish for which is why I keep coming back at least twice a year. The only problem I has was the shower door, it would be better for me as a wheelchair user to have a shower curtain instead.
