Sol Don Pablo
- What's Included
The Don Pablo is part of a 3 hotel Sol Hotels complex at the northern end of Torremolinos. We only stayed for one night as we were meeting friends who were returning to the UK the next day. The hotel has been recently refurbished and the rooms and common areas are now really fresh and smart. The hotel is across the road from a really nice beach, there is reasonably priced parking next door to reception and there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. This is a tourist hotel and was busy for the time of year – it offers a good entertainment programme for guests and is in pleasant grounds. The room was reasonably priced and we would use it again for short stays.
We travelled from Ireland and checked into this Hotel on 15th November for a five day break. We had booked an Xtra Front room with full sea view. We arrived late and went straight to bed. We were woken at 8 am by the bulldozers which are knocking down their sister hotel next door. The noise was deafening and highly stressful. As it turns out our side view was two levels above the building site. There had been no warning on the Melia website when I booked in September. I am a member of the awards club but no mention. No persons should be booked into these rooms whilst the demolition and building is current. On reporting the issue to reception they shrugged their shoulders and the manageress reluctantly came to meet me. We were offered an inferior room and some free meals but had to insist on being moved to a different hotel as the noise affected the pool an relaxation area which is next to the demolition/building site. A further note is to avoid the Xtra room. We have booked these rooms twice now to find a standard room with the promise of xtra which have not been there. Very disappointing Melia. Reception staff need some hospitality training. A terrible experience which required a quick escape.
everything was up to its usual excellent standard. We arrived just as Tavo's team was reducing from 5 to 3 members, but Nastia and Jose were excellent. We will be a little sad to see the bar at the Don Pedro disappear as it is a lovely, traditional place where we have enjoyed many an evening. Still, we have got used to the new look at the Don Pablo and the changes will not prevent us from visiting in future. Thanks also to Luisa Greig. See you all again in April.
travelled here in october 2017 with 8 friends, all inclusive. Hotel clean, food average but above all staff unfriendly - especially bar staff both inside hotel and in pool area, as soon as our "all inclusive blue bands" were seen we were completely ignored-and when we were served it was always with a sour expression, very unprofessional. The animation team however were extremely hard working and professional, the entertainment was always of a very high standard and they deserve recognition for outstanding service. Pity the bar/waiter service let down the hotel overall, so won't be returning any time soon.
Had a great week here in early November, great selection of food, friendly staff, in a good position just across road to the beach, pools are rather cold but that is expected, everywhere seemed clean and fresh, entertainment every night, one minor problem of no shelves in our shower room you had to balance all your toiletries on the sink which was not big enough so we had to put them on the floor up the corner, would def go back here especially as it is so wheelchair friendly.
