Stayed at the Don Pablo for 2 weeks, from 31st Aug. Last time we were here was before the refurbishment, and I personally preferred it as it was. While it's a lovely hotel, it could be anywhere. whereas before it was a lovely Spanish theme. We were allocated a room on the second floor, overlooking the bowling green. it had the sun all afternoon. The room was a good size, with plenty of hanging space, and shelves.The air con was a godsend as the temperature was in the mid to high 30s. There was a small fridge in the room, and a safe. The safe was 2euros a day. the bathroom was a good size, with a walk in shower. Lots of toiletries on shelf, and soap dispensers by washbasin and in shower. The only downside for my wife was no point by the mirror in the bedroom, had to use the bathroom to do her hair. The food was good at breakfast, but sometimes not very hot at dinner, although there was usually a good choice. Bar prices on half board were expensive at 12euros for a pint and bacardi and coke. it may be ok by some standards, but I'm a valley boy and get them in my local club for about ¬£4.95. We didn't watch any shows so can't comment. could nearly always get a bed by the pool, no matter what time of day, despite the bed claimers. Happy hour from 5.30 to 6.30. Staff throughout the hotel were very nice no problems with booking in or out. All in all a nice hotel but don't think I'd return, mostly because we don't like all inclusive.
I stayed at the Don Pedro and Don Pablo last April with sister. We had cause to complain on that occasion about the building works, but Jacobo, the Duty Manager really looked after us and couldn't have done any more to make our holiday enjoyable. We did say we'd return once the building works were completed - and we are SO glad we did! We arrived on 14th September for five nights with a third sister and a close family friend. The new beach bar/restaurant was beautifully done and gave a lovely relaxing ambience to the poolside area at the Don Pablo. They now also have private, luxury double sun beds with canopies. You pay for these and the rate depends on the package you choose, eg a full day including cava, afternoon tea etc at 65 euros, a cheaper option at 35 euros and a luxury option for 95 euros. Fantastic if you have a special celebration while you're away, and want a day in the sun in style. It's a shame the hotel didn't promote this feature very well and we didn't know of it till our last day. But there's always a next time...!Our room was lovely, overlooking the bowling green with sun sun sun all day. Four of us booked, and we were automatically allocated rooms next door to each other without having to ask. We'd sit on our balconies basking in the sunshine until 7pm every day.We did feel the food wasn't as good as it was in April, but that could be because the hotel was much, much busier. Having said that, it was better than we've had in many other hotels and there is a choice of restaurants if you fancy a change of scenery,We really enjoyed the entertainment every evening, particularly the Ill Divo Tribute which was a lovely ending to our holiday on our final evening.All in all I'd say Thank you and Well Done to the Melia Group - the refurbishments were a pain on our previous visit, but the completed version was stunning on our return visit.We will be back....!
Stayed at this recently refurbished hotel for 7 nights from 8th September with my partner. Neither of us had been to Torremolinos before but we were delighted with the choice of resort and especially the hotel Sol Don Pablo. This 440+ room hotel was refurbished only 9 months before our visit and the work has clearly been done to a high standard with lovely modern bedrooms and public areas. The air con in the bedroom was a godsend as the temperature was 30-33 degrees every day of our stay. The bedroom was twin-bedded, which doesn't really suit a couple but I understand why so many hotels do this. Despite information contained on the TV channel card in the room, there was a complete lack of decent, English channels to watch when we ran through the channel list on the TV itself. Having said that, we didn't go on holiday to watch TV so I'd be lying if I said this bothered us unduly. The choice of food in the restaurant was excellent. We opted for half board, taking a hearty breakfast and then saving ourselves until dinner in the evening. The hot choices were perhaps not as good as we've enjoyed elsewhere but it would be churlish to criticise this, given the huge choice of salads available. The staff in the restaurant were hard-working, although some of the male waiters lacked charm and would benefit from further training on engaging with customers. The "entertainment" in the evenings was the usual Mediterranean hotel fayre, mainly fairly poorly sung cover versions of old "favourites" with quality and enjoyment substituted by volume. There are two distinct bars and stages and we went to sleep every night listening to two separate acts fighting with each other to sing tired old songs over each other. Having said all that, the hotel was generally very good, clean, smart and well-appointed and the location in the resort could not have been much better. We shall almost certainly return.
Just came back from a ten day stay here and would not go again . On arrival we waited over half an hour to be checked in the guy on reception took our details then proceeded to ignore us . When we final got a room we couldn't have a key as they had system problems so a security guard had to let us in to the room. No apology was given. It was another 24 hours before we got a key and each time we went out we had to go to reception and wait for them to acknowledge you then get security to let you in this took over half an hour !! The majority of guests were pensioners and the entertainment was geared up for them.The main gate to the hotel was locked and shut every night at midnight and we waited over 20 minutes to get back in as reception ignored the bell we finally got in by calling one of the other hotels !!! When we told reception he just shrugged his shoulders again no apology.We called room service for a snack and were told they were too busy and to call back in 40 Minutes and they may be able to do something! Guess what no apology !And we received a wake up a call at seven thirty that wasnt for us and guess what no apology. Hotel was clean but staff were unfriendly and some were down right rude and unless you are 60 you are going to be bored here.
Very little to fault during our stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Lovely surprise to get a celebratory bottle of wine delivered to our room, (we didn't drink it, but the sentiment got top marks and set the scene for a fantastic 10 days). Hotel itself is perfectly located, and staff are top notch. Room was excellent overlooking the bowling green, so caught the maximum amount of sun. Room was cleaned everyday if necessary, we asked for every second day, and the place was dusted and cleaned perfectly. We stayed on an all inclusive basis, it was amazing. The food was never ending, the quality outstanding, even the breads, cheeses, chocolate fountains....there was no sparing the variety or quality. However, we are still a bit baffled why there is a cooking station in the (right hand) corner, having stayed in similar style hotels previously, we felt that maybe it could be better used for a "theme" night cooking e.g. Chinese, Brazilian, Spanish etc, but still no quibble, there was so much food and so much variety, you could sample a different meal each time, and you'd never have tasted the same thing twice on the holiday. Animation team were only excellent! Yes, we saw the same show repeated a few nights on the terrace, but a small gripe. All the staff were fantastic, cleaners brilliant and efficient, bar and restaurant staff quick and cheerful, and the reception staff were so good. Overall, it's a fantastic hotel, loved the decor (especially the nests of tables....) no grumbles from us! Well done Sol Don Pablo!
