At top of Cliff with long walk to beach. Worst beds I have ever slept in, in a hotel. Booked a double and got a twin. 3 staff confirmed no double beds in whole hotel. Not sure I believe them. Location though for going out was great with a great restaurant only 100m away. Very handy for taxis and trains.
We came her for three nights for a short break during the winter. The hotel is super clean and the staff really friendly. We loved the location close to the beach and nightlife. We loved the place so much we are coming back with friends in March.
Just great for a long weekend, ask for a seaview room. Walk into the centre of town, plenty of restaurants etc around. Even the dinner buffet was great value. Plenty of golf courses around, but you need a car for that.
never eatiing normally in the establishments it was excellent and very good assortment of many choices and the breakfast and dinner were an exceptional value apart from the quality. The hours of breakfats and dinner were perfect and the staff very welcoming at this location as I have stayed here several times and feels like coming home.
This booking was made through Hotels.com and I chose to make payment on arrival rather than in advance. (In my experience it is cheaper to do this and to make payment in Euro not GBP! On the rate of the day it would've cost us an extra £15.00 to have paid in £)Stayed January 16-23.2017. Having read many mixed reviews prior to booking we kept an open mind for our arrival and this has been our experience over the week......On checking in we found the man on reception, Fernando, to be polite and professional. Be aware, as I wasn't, that they require something on paper or emailed in advance, as reference to the booking. He waited patiently (with a smile) as I linked to their wifi (he gave me the code) and emailed across the booking confirmation. We had booked a 1 bedroom Apt. We were given a 2nd Floor apartment which consisted of, to our amazement, effectively 2 accommodations! There was the side with a sofa bed, kitchenette, table and chairs, tv, wardrobe, bathroom etc, then there was, through an adjoining door, another bathroom, a Kingsize bed and again a table and chairs, tv (and locked off behind a sliding door, another kitchenette). Both rooms had balconies with lovely views and table and chairs on them. Unlike some (according to reviews we read) we had functional utensils, crockery, pots and pans, toaster, microwave, fridge, 2 ring hob and there was also a small box that contained mini washing up liquid, multi surface cleaner, scourer pad and dish cloth (no tea towels). There was no kettle but I went to reception to ask if it was possible to have one and one was fetched for me straight away. There were ample towels and provided toiletries in the bathrooms too! The bed only had one pillow per person but again we asked in reception for additional pillows and the receptionist (Laura) immediately provided them for us. During our 1 week stay our apartment was cleaned twice including fresh towels and bedding as desired. We did use the restaurant having breakfast a couple of times at €5.90 per person and we dined in for dinner once on our last night at €11.50 per person. Both offered plenty of choice and overall we felt it was good value and convenient. The pool area was closed for maintenance, being repainted and the pools drained, cleaned and refilled during our stay but this didn't affect us as the weather wasn't really hot enough to go for a dip anyway, in my opinion. If heading out and about, they won't raise it with you in reception as I think the number are limited but...... If you ask, there is a key available for €20.00 refundable deposit, that gives access to a lift straight down to the beach front. The walk down is lovely anyway but if you have mobility issues or don't want to walk as far to get to the beach then the key is a good option. So.....Negatives, of which there are only a couple. Although the accommodation was clean overall, the bed linen crisp and white etc. the sofa was marked and stained, obviously from previous disrespectful visitors and there were a couple of small tears in the white curtains. The following is NO fault of the hotel but an observation so I will also add that, whilst it was relatively peaceful during the first part of our stay, when people went into the accommodation above us, the noise of furniture being moved about at all hours of day and night was disturbing and the noise did travel so I would think at busier times the noise levels will undoubtedly increase. In Summary: We really enjoyed our stay at the Pierre & Vacances Stella Polaris, Torremolinos! The accommodation was spacious, clean, had everything we needed and importantly, we think, ALL of the staff we came into contact with were polite, accommodating and welcoming. The location of the hotel is excellent with good views of the sea and close enough to the town centre and beach whilst being in, what seemed to us, a quiet area. In past years we have spent a couple of weeks each January in the Canaries but whilst the temperatures here are much lower, we have found it to be a more relaxing and hassle free break- and not a street seller in sight!! 😃This was a bit of a last minute getaway for us and initially after booking, I read the mixed reviews and did toy with amending to an alternative hotel BUT we decided to stick with our original plan and we have NO regrets about that decision. We would definitely come and stay here again for a winter getaway!
