Not all rooms have A/C

The location is great, the breakfast is great, the staff helpful, but the huge problem is that they say all their rooms have air conditioning, but they don't. Apparently all but three rooms have air conditioning, and of course I got one of these for a few unusually hot days.

Close to central rail station

I chose this hotel because of its proximity to the central railway station, since we were arriving in, and leaving, Zurich by train. Compared to similar standard hotels in the rest of the world it is only fair quality but Zurich/Switzerland is different (expensive) to most everywhere else. So despite its price tag I found it reasonable value compared to other options near the railway station. Being near the railway station it is also close to the centre of Zurich and the main sites; 10-15 minutes walk. As others have mentioned, it is a climb to the hotel (especially with luggage) but it is not too bad if you take your time. On arrival at the hotel, we dealt with the same girl (Katja) that another reviewer was not to fond of. But to us she was fine. We arrived early so she stored our bags while we went exploring. When we returned, the room was ready and we paid for it then so as to avoid delays on checkout next morning, and everything was fine.As for the room, it was small but clean, modern and had all the necessary facilities. A reviewer mentioned a chair in the corner of the room, which greatly limited movement in the room. That reviewer's solution was to have a smaller chair; my suggestion - get rid of it; it serves no purpose. The bathroom was small, but functional. There was an outside balcony; a perfect place to sit and have a drink. The outside area is busy, and noisy, but the double glazing is very effective and there was no issue with sleep. The room had free wifi, and also had complimentary tea/coffee in the room. One thing that really annoyed me about that was that there was only one tea bag of black tea and one bag of green tea. I guess tea bags, like everything else, must be very expensive in Zurich. My stay was reasonable. No major issues.

It was very good but the staffs made it excellent

It wasn't too far from the main station but if you want to walk it's gonna be a bit tiring especially with luggage. You'll have to walk up 2 sets of stairs. But you can just use the trams (for free with swiss travel pass), it's only 2 stops from the main station. The room was good in general. Clean, not too small. The bathroom was okay, a bit too small but not really a problem. The staffs were very good! They were very willing to help. I asked them to help with a lot of things and none of them showed any sign of annoyance. I'm not good with this so I can't really explain much as to why I found them very nice. But they were the reason I even try to write a review in the first place. Would recommend :D

Small rooms, big price

Here's the positive -near the train station, clean, allowed early checkin. Here's the negative - small room, staff was not helpful ( did not ask if we needed help with luggage), music from bar area disturbed sleep, expensive for what we got. ( breakfast 20 euros per person)

UPHILL and RUDE receptionist

The location is good and bad. It was near the train station and at the center of town, that was great. BUT the terrain was UPHILL all the way and I had to push two wheeled pieces of luggage all the way up. By the time I reached the front desk, I couldn't speak right away because I was short of breath and the receptionist, Katja, started ordering me in a loud voice and a RUDE and IMPATIENT tone to show her my passport. She spoke to me in English which I understood very well, she was very condescending. She got more impatient when I couldn't respond quickly enough as I was short of breath while pulling out my passport. Needless to say, we decided not to deal with her later on. Maybe that should be part of the hotel's advisory, that there would be an uphill walk to the hotel and maybe a cab ride would be better and it only cost 10 euro. Also, maybe Katja should undergo anger-management.
