Very good location, amazing staffs, Monique the receptionist was very helpful with nice smile, nice view from the balcony, food decent, but internet is weak.10 minutes walk to the old town, i will reconsider this hotel.
We thought we had an AirBNB and the reservation fell through shortly before we left for our trip. We chose the Leoneck without any research. It was a great choice. Close to train station and to the Niederdorf district. Room/bathroom were clean, beds were comfortable. We had a room for 4 - and there were actually 2 bedrooms. The second bedroom was accessed by going through the first. The door to the bathroom was in the second bedroom. The chair with the cow print fabric was a hit with my children. The balcony was a nice surprise... so pleasant to sit outside after a long day of having fun.
We booked this hotel as our Zurich stopover point as part of our car rally Europe tour. Firstly, parking is in 5 garages at the front of the hotel. The doors seem to randomly open and close which is a little worrying. The spaces are very tight indeed!Check in was ok. Reception area is basic and cheap looking. The lift up was tiny. Our room was a double room and it was very small. We had no view as there were trees outside the window. I barely had room to put down my case! It's old fashioned and tired looking. Great coffee machine though. Probably the best thing about the hotel!! My hairdryer broke halfway through using it (to be honest it would have been quicker for my daughter to blow in my hair as the dryer was useless anyway). I rang reception and asked if they could please send me a hairdryer to the room and her reply was "I'm sorry I'm on my own down here, my friend has just gone off to eat but you can come and fetch one if you like". So it appears she was the only person in the hotel! Another of our guests had no bathroom light! We walked into the centre for a drink then headed back to the hotel to eat as we had been informed that this was a superb restaurant. It was ridiculously expensive! Myself and a friend and the couple sat beside us ordered the cheese fondue (this is between two people so we ordered 2). The man taking our order said he would bring one pot of cheese for the four of us, that this would be plenty and we could top it up if we wanted to. We asked him 3 times if this would be enough for 4 of us as it stated it was for 2 people. "Yes, yes, you can always ask for more". They brought out the cheese fondue (plenty of cheese) and one ramekin of melon, pineapple and a single grape. The ramekin was the size of the palm of my hand - between 4 people. They also brought a bag of bread chunks. We needed two of these really. I asked the waitress for another fruit bowl to which she replied sternly "but you only ordered fondue for 2 people". Really??? She reluctantly brought out another fruit bowl some 10 minutes later! Then came the bill! They had charged us for 2 lots of fondue for 2 people at €28 per fondue! When questioned they tried to tell us we had been brought a large fondue between 4. They quite clearly were trying to pull the wool over our eyes as when we asked for more fruit the waitress quoted "you only ordered fondue for 2 people"!! Needless to say we refused to pay for the second one. They weren't happy! Also, they were clearing the room and setting up for breakfast so those wanting desserts decided against it as we felt they were wanting us out of the restaurant. So, breakfast was interesting! This was served until 10am. Not a huge choice, cereal, a few burnt pastries, a bit of cheese and meat. Scrambled egg and bacon. I opted for scrambled egg and bacon on toast. The bacon pot was empty so I asked for it to be filled up only to be informed "there is no more bacon". This was 9.10am! I told the lady that wasn't good enough at that time in the morning to run out of bacon. There was no apology, just a disgruntled look. She went to speak with a manager and 5 minutes later informed me there would be bacon ready in 10 minutes! They miraculously found some bacon. By this time I had eaten my toast and left! This hotel is badly managed, tired, small, unfriendly and I would absolutely not recommend it.
Friendly hotel not far from town. Rooms on the small size but clean and serviceable. Loved the small Toblerone on my pillow each night. If you forego housekeeping you receive a 10 Franc voucher for the restaurant, which is a welcome bonus. Will be returning.
We have booked this hotel for 2 nights. We arrived by train and got some instruction from the information desk at the Central Station. He told us that the tram track was under renovation, so we walked. It took us about 10 minutes to get to the hotel. Both check-in and check-out were quick with no fuss. Our room is on the third floor, overseeing the church. It was recently renovated. The room and bathroom, while small, are clean and well equipped. Fridge and kettle are provided and there are also some free herbal teabags for us to consume. There is also a small balcony which makes us feel more relaxed sitting out. The bed is very comfortable. Our only criticism is sometimes the church bells were too loud and went on for a few minutes.Breakfast was included and it was very nice with a good variety of bread, muesli, fruit, scrambled eggs and bacon. We found the old town and Zurich lake are all within walking distance. If you find eating out in Zurich too expensive, you can try buying hot food at the Coop (with a good variety) and eat at the hotel. We spent about 10 Francs each at the Coop with a 3 course meal and eat leisurely at our balcony. Of course, we also made our own tea which is free.
