We stayed in the NH Zurich on 2 January 2018. Upon arrival the lady from the staff was very friendly. My husband and I stayed on the second floor and our sons stayed in a room next door on the same floor.The linen on the beds were clean. However the carpets in the rooms were stained terribly, the walls were dirty, the tray on which the coffee station was on was stained and dirty, the shower wall had some old hairs against the wall. Our sons’ bar refrigerator was open, but ours was locked.As we arrived after 19:00 and had a long flight we decided to tell the staff about the problems the next morning. The next morning we were told by the lady at reception that we needed to pay 3 CHF per person for the “free” shuttle back to the airport. I also then told the friendly receptionist about the poor standard of our rooms AND that we had booked the hotel during November 2017 due to the “free” shuttle. She apologized about that poor standard of the rooms. Nowhere on the website of the NH hotel was it stated that only the shuttle from the airport is free. She then gave us a free voucher for the shuttle back to the airport.When we returned on 5 January 2018 we were given much better rooms and we were completely satisfied. BUT we needed the shuttle back to the airport at 3CHF per person again! What we don’t understand is why we have to pay to go to the airport if the hotel website states “free” shuttle which is obviously not free?The friendly receptionist stated that she would ask her manager to reply to our complaints (which he did do in German/Swiss).We have always been very satisfied with NH hotels during our other European stays.I include his response to our complaints.Sehr geehrte Familie Engelbrecht, ich melde mich heute bei Ihnen, da ich eine nicht sehr schöne Übergabe von meinem Team erhalten habe. Service, Freundlichkeit und zufriedene Gäste liegen uns sehr am Herzen. Es tut mir sehr leid, dass Sie mit Ihrem Zimmer nicht zufrieden gewesen, laut der Aussage in der Übergabe gab es einige Mängel im Zimmer, die nicht in Ordnung gewesen sind. Meine Hausdame und ich persönlich haben heute Morgen die beiden Zimmer geprüft und können keine Mängel in derartiger Weise feststellen. Wir sind auf Ihr weiteres Feedback angewiesen, was genau nicht in Ordnung war, denn wir wollen alle vorhanden Mängel beseitigen. Bezüglich Shuttle muss ich Ihnen auch mitteilen, dass wir pro Rückfahrt zum Flughafen eine Gebühr von 3 CHF pro Fahrt in Rechnung stellen. Die Fahrt vom Flughafen zum Hotel, ist dafür kostenfrei. Diese Gebühr werden sie in «allen» Hotels am Züricher Flughafen wieder finden. Die Gebühr wird auch offiziell kommuniziert um Missverständnisse zu vermeiden. Freundliche Grüsse The question is why were we upgraded to better rooms on the 5th of January if management thought that there was nothing wrong with our rooms on the second floor? Why does the website or management not state that the shuttle service is only partially “free”.If we had known all the facts about this hotel we would have made a different choice. We are returning to the hotel on 20 January 2018 as our stay was prepaid before arriving.We would not recommend staying at this hotel.
Great hotel that is close to the Zurich Airport. I have stayed there 5 times in the last few years and I will continue to return. The train is a 5 minute walk, restaurants close by (GREAT Chinese restaurant), very clean hotel. What truly sets this hotel apart though is the staff at the front desk. They go BEYOND helpful and are always ready to help however they can. The ONLY negative thing I can say is the hotel is in the direct flight path of planes taking off, usually between 8:00 am - 4:00 pm and when I say direct, I mean direct!!! Very low altitude and very loud but if you are away on business between those hours, it really won't matter then!!
Although we have made a reservation including breakfast in NH Hotel system, receptionist and customer service did not accept, when we arrived hotel during our accommodation.They told me that you made just room reservation and they demand proof. I'm %100 sure that I have purchased with breakfast included. When I found the e-mail, they accept their mistake. I kindly demand approximate 3 days * 2-person breakfast fee return, they have rejected to refund this money and even if we are completely right.They prefer voucher free breakfast , but we are not planning to go to Zurich or stay in this hotel group anymore.By the way, every day we had to share additional budget breakfast at the outside of the hotel. For the room cleanness, there was a spider web and bugs on the ceiling of the room.There was no air conditioning central heating in the hotel rooms. I bought a small portable fan from the lobby and slippers by myself.(these should not be extra and December- 2017)I do not recommend any one to choose this hotel for customer satisfaction procedures, general cleanness and heating system logic.
I stayed at the “NH hotel “ last week,after a snow storm closed the Zurich airport. I decided to find something close to the airport itself and possibly a 4 stars .. a bit pricey, but at least in comfort. The hotel, doesn’t look bad, but once arrived in the room, I immediately felt there difference of temperature with the corridor, it was really cold. I checked the heating system and it was completely out of work (I repeat, December,in Switzerland , lots of snow outside).I call the reception and they told me that they couldn’t do anything about it and if I wanted they had a small electric heater. I accepted, but it was definitely not the right thing. Very small , it heated very little the room, the bathroom was very cold and not really “pleasant “ to have a shower like that, it never reached the temperature I preselected even around it, and it was really noisy, making the night sleep rather difficult. I also tried the “open bar “ for something to eat,the selection was rather small and the microwave where I had to cook the pasta dish, was dirty at very angle.For a 4 stars hotel, for its price, at least I hoped in a warmer environment. I don’t usually write bad reviews, but I am really disappointed with it.
While was making my check-in the person in-charge was really unfriendly with no welcoming spirit, I was really shocked to see this treatment specially in Switzerland.In addition the carpet of my room color was fade and the carpet for sure needs to be renovated.I was expecting better receiving specially in the check-in process!
