I enjoyed my stay at the Sorell Seidenhof hotel and would highly recommend it. My room was comfortable with a large bed and four pillows. The hotel is only 2 steps away from the Bahnhofstrasse from where most of the trams leave from.
We stayed in Sorell in Zurich for 5 nights during Christmas. The hotel is in a perfect central location, across the street from Jelmoli shopping mall, steps away from Banhoffshtrasse and the Central Train Station. Short walking distance to old town and Zurich Opera House. The room is nice and clean. Bathroom is stocked with the variety of toiletries. We particularly loved the breakfast - excellent selection of foods and drinks. Just make sure to come for breakfast earlier in the morning, as at the later hour it is packed with people and the staff is having hard time keeping up with cleaning the tables and the dishes and replenishing the food at the buffet. Our room was very hot and the air conditioning didn't quite work, but we didn't report it, so can't comment on the speed of complaint resolution. Coffee, water and fruit in the lobby throughout the day added a nice touch. Overall a very positive experience.
Hotel caters well for an overnight business stay. But not for a longer period of time. It’s conveniently located, which makes up for the lack of luster. Doesn’t provide a very homey feeling, but a decent hotel experience.
I stayed for two nights, a work trip and I knew I was going to be working very late on one of those nights. So my criteria was a hotel central, not too hard to get to Sihl city area where I would be office based, and close to a bar and eatery when not.My first choice as a soccer fan would have bene the FIFA hotel for the hell of it and it was closer to work, but that was three times the price of this one, which by Zurich standards was very good value for the centre. It certainly met all my pre visit criteria.First impressions were not great. Reception area is small and the restaurant looked more functional than appetising. I arrived early so it’s no surprise my room was not ready, I checked in and my back was stored. I went to work thinking “ok, it’s only for two nights”. I went back about 5pm to relax a bit before the night work and found they had put my bag in my now ready room – a nice touch, appreciated – and my first view of the room was “this is small”. So – first impressions not great. Second impressions? After two days I had a good comfortable and well serviced stay – so first impressions can be wrong. In the room the light was warming and well done, wooden floor giving it a homely feel and nice and warm against the cold outside. It felt cosy.Although the room was narrow it was also long, with a good sized safe, plenty of toiletries, a tablet for internet access and a small TV screen with keyboard. The screen was tucked up in the corner making it not much use but the internet was strong so I could work well from the room and stream anything I needed to. The bed was queen sized so enough for 1, shower a walk in with good power and temperature (always a big plus with me) and I had a balcony, albeit jut a city view but in summer would be enjoyable. The rain and snow stopped that but the table and a couple of chairs out there was nice. Only a few power points in the room was disappointing. Two negatives I can give. The internet dropped about 11:45 at night which gave me an issue. The wifi was working but there was no external service. That may be climate related as there was snow coming in heavily. I do not know when service came back, it was working in the morning. Probably outside the control of the hotel, so not really a complaint. The second was breakfast which is included but it’s really minimal offerings and the service was quite miserable, they did not look happy to be there.Which is a complete contrast to the evening when I had a couple if the bar before bed to be served by a really jolly man and the other staff I met were always smiling.Overall a good stay at a reasonable Zurich price in a city centre hotel, not perfect but overall pretty good.
our room was very dirty when we arrived even we had a paper towel in the toilet and the and the bathroom wall was full of black hair .we told that the room is untidy they promised us to clean up but when we came back they have delivered us an untidy ......................this caused me to have a bad memory from my trip to switzerland. I was not intended to complain but I see no improvement.
