Wedding - late night mugging

10 days in paradise was destroyed by a Wednesday night beach mugging that involved a gun and knife. Hotel response was inconsistent and lame. Over 30 minutes for on site security to arrive. Front desk manager seemed to dismiss the idea of lack of security. Double talk from 1 to 2 on site security personnel. Whatever it is, it is not enough. And coincidentally, Ocean Club West had a room invasion the week prior. I love this place, but if my family isnt safe....

Relaxing and beautiful setting

This is a small, quiet and lovely resort. Our ocean view junior suite did not give us the real ocean view that we wanted but we were able to upgrade (paying more) but worthit! The decor was acceptable but comfortable enough. The rooms were spacious, offering room to spread out.All staff were pleasant and helpful. Requests for problems with the TV were answered promptly. Food at the Cabana cafe was very good and staff were attentive. The beach, worth the trip, is so beautiful. Towels and chairs are plentiful. The weather is not always consistent, as it rained some while we were there.I would recommend this resort for a relaxing beach vacation where you will be well taken care of! As mentioned in other reviews, housekeeping was not consistent or very thorough.

2nd visit to this resort the first was three years ago. TCI itself is the absolute best in the Caribbean the people of the island are extremely friendly. The resort is lush with tropical gardens two clean pools and it is set on the best part of Grace Bay beach. Ocean Club East is one of the last resorts on the right of the beach making it less crowded compared to other hotels. A short walk down the beach and there are no hotels at all perfect place for pictures/snorkeling. Rooms are spacious clean and include an enclosed balcony which is relaxing to sit outside away from bugs. From the airport it will cost $20/person for a taxi back to the resort. Short taxi ride to resort where they will escort you by golf cart to your room. AJ remembered us from our last trip which was very impressive he is extremely nice! The beach is AMAZING compared to Grand Cayman, Puerto Rico, St. Martin, Bermuda, Haiti, and Mexico it beats them all. No one is ever at the pool since the ocean is calm, warm and crystal clear. The Cabana bar is right on the beach they have great food/drinks which can be served to you right on the beach. Opus restaurant at the resort is pricey however the food is delicious. Take the free shuttle to Ocean Club West from there it is a short walk to the grocery store and other shops. We grilled food outside and cooked in the room to save money. Visit the Potcake place located in Salt Mills they are a shelter for puppies on the island. You may take them for a walk between 10-1pm and they encourage you to adopt one if possible. It is a volunteer program so they accept donations for the puppies too. On Thursdays visit the Fish Fry where there is live Caribbean music, souvenirs, and great food! For nightlife we found Club Med offers $60/night passes all drinks included, Danny Bouy's has DJ's sometimes, the resort itself has a guitar player some nights, Pizza Pizza has an outdoor rooftop deck. The convenience store at the resort offers some food and they sell beer as well which is cheaper to buy than the Cabana bar. Mango Reef is a restaurant located in Turtle Cove Marina the food was outstanding and sitting right on the harbor is beautiful we were able to see a sea turtle in the water next to our table! This is also a good place for nightlife the bar was lively with great music. We took a day trip to Chalk Sound, Sapodilla Bay specifically and it was gorgeous the water is shallow very far out. No chairs here but you can rent kayaks, jet skiis, or paddle boards. We ate at Las Brisas which overlooks Chalk Sound the water is unbelievably blue it is walkable from the bay. Second trip to the resort was just as great as the first we even saw a Dolphin at the resort this time!Overall: We decided to return because the beach is the best we've ever seen and this resort is well priced compared to others. We pick the East over the West due to the location on the beach even though the West is closer to everything else. My advice is to pick a taxi service that is willing to give you a cheaper rate and stick with them for the whole trip it makes you feel safe. Norman Taxi & Sons we used the whole time and Clifton was knowledgeable and friendly, he also works at Ocean Club. The only downfall of the trip were the bugs. I was bitten multiple times by the "no-see ums" (mosquitoes) even when I had bug spray on each day. I got bit more often than my family members so it may depend however if you normally get bitten easily I advise you to look this up in advance to prepare. Most nights I stayed in to avoid them. There were never bugs inside or at the beach only near the pool/at night. I will return to TCI even though it is pricey I highly suggest it to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation.

What's not to like??

My sister and I spent a week at this beautifully kept property on Grace Bay. We could not have had a better time. our room had comfortable beds, a small but well equipped kitchen, and large screened patio area perfect for relaxing after a day in the sun. We also made use of the shared barbeques near the pool on a couple of occasions. The beach and water could not have been more beautiful, we never had a problem with finding a chair, and all the staff were friendly and gracious at all times. The only negative was one day there were 3or 4 kids playing marco polo in the pool as loudly as they possibly could shout. I'm not a kid hater, but come on. enough is enough.

Wanna relax?

The resort is located at the quiet end of Grace Bay. Long walks on Grace Bay without crowds are a given. The facilities are carefully maintained, lush gardens, pools, friendly staff and EASY beach access. No glitz or glamor, just a casual Caribbean resort. We've seen lots of the world and our heart rate and blood pressure falls every time we come.
