Ocean Club Resort
- What's Included
OverviewAn azure sea, pristine white sand, and island breezes await you at the Ocean Club, a favourite wedding and honeymoon spot. Make yourself at home at this casually elegant all-suites resort where each spacious unit features a fully equipped kitchen and large screened balcony overlooking the stunning waters of Grace Bay. Explore the vibrant coral reefs just offshore, golf across the street at the Provo Golf Club, or savour the flavours at the renowned on-site Gecko Grille. Swim the turquoise waters and expect a visit from Jo-Jo, a wild dolphin who's come to call Ocean Club home.
Location: Directly on Grace Bay Beach, 20 min drive from the airport. Provo Golf Club nearby.
Pros:Resort location and scale is great. I prefer the smaller resorts with more ambling grounds. I much preferred this resort (and location at end of beach) to the other resorts. Grounds were beautiful and so nicely maintained. Shuttle was nice. On time and it worked really nice to take it to Ocean Club West and then go shopping at Graceway Gourmet, the take it back again. Also nice to walk down to the West and enjoy restaraunts and then take shuttle back. We liked our grounds and beach more than West's, but for others they might like the other pool, grounds and beach better. It was great having the option to spend at both.We found the staff very nice.We were worried the noise from the bar would be too much. It wasn't. It was nice. Good that they end at 9.Cons:Our first room, on the ground floor, is categorized as ocean view (not partial, but ocean view). Check the picture for yourself. It has a very nice garden view, but not ocean. There was a room to move us to on after our first night and that room had an ocean view. :-) the staff was nice through the process, I feel bad for the staff dealing with how the rooms are categorized. On return, if I can't confirm exact room, I'd book garden view to keep from being disappointed.A lot of guests take shells and coral. It is posted around that Grace Bay is part of the National Park and the National Park is a no take space. There are mixed messages because it seems like all the rooms have shells and coral too. It would be nice if Ocean Club could make it clear guests should not take from the ocean/beach (maybe something next to the safety notices). Owners could also help by putting something on the decorative things from the ocean indicating they are not from Grace Bay and where they came from. Or better yet, don't display actual items from the ocean, pictures work just fine.Neither room was that well equipped kitchen wise. For example, neither had a cutting board. We got through, but things like cutting boards would be nice. All in all - very happy we selected Ocean Club and had a great time.
Average at best, for the $500 per night stay I had no view and the room was not very nice. Tiles and grout were old and dirty and the cabinets in the kitchen were cheap and put together poorly. The hotel staff was not very friendly (by far the least friendly Island I have visited) and couldn't care less if you didn't like something. The Cabana bar and restaurant, not owned by the hotel was outstanding. Staff and owners were very friendly and food was delicious.
We had a wonderful stay - the junior suite was simply furnished but clean and comfortable- had a view of the lucious grounds and the ocean. The location was perfect - a beautiful beach with chairs and umbrellas readily available, along with service from the Cabana Bar. The food at the Cabana Bar was fresh and delicious and the sunset view was gorgeous. Would highly recommend this resort!
We returned to Ocean Club once again - our little piece of Paradise. We were not disappointed. It continues to be a favorite for our Winter vacation.! We were lucky to have the same room as last year, 3rd floor junior suite with a garden, pool and ocean view. We love this quiet location. The beach is the best and most beautiful we have ever seen. We love the people and were welcomed back by the front desk, and our Cabana grill friends. The grounds are spotless and beautiful. Both restaurants are very good. This year we ventured out in a car rental to see a little more of the island which was fun! If you are looking for relaxation, gorgeous turquoise water, white sandy beach and a clean resort with Happy people this is the place to be!
while others may enjoy the pomp and circumstance of hotels like Grave Bay Resort etc we absolutely love the Ocean Club. The hotel is situated at the 'end' of the line of hotels on Grace Bay. So facing the beach, to your right is nothing but sand and some luxury houses as you walk along (great for peaceful morning walks. There are paddle boards, hobbies, kayaks etc that you can rent right there. The beach in front is nice for snorkeling and you occasional y see some fish and we saw a sea turtle again on this stay. JoJo the dolphin always pops up a few times in the area as well. The beach and water are great for kids, as there are 'baby waves' and plenty of room to build sand castles etc without disturbing the guests who just want to relax and read etc on the beach. Plenty of lounge chairs around and umbrellas, though in high season you may want to skip on down a bit early and throw your towel on one if you want a good spot in front.. There are two pools, one near the ocean and cafe / bar area and one back a bit further, again both very kid friendly. We traveled with our 16 year old girl who loved having the freedom to just roam. another perk is Rickie's a cute local bar with shops that sell shirts and cigars etc is right next door. We brought our swell bottles down as they have a cold water station / cooler right on the beach. we filled that throughout the day to stay hydrated, the water stayed cold and better than little cups they provide. For Sunsets, which are amazing on Turks, there is a little pier right there at the hotel which is a great viewing spot, however you can just sit on one of the lounge chairs on the beach and it is just as amazing. We stayed in a one bedroom that had a fold out bed in the main area for our daughter. The room was fine and having the kitchen to make breakfast, coffee and tea each morning was wonderful. We brought from home some ground coffee, tea, some snacks (chips, nuts etc) and some cereal. We just bought the milk, eggs some fruit at Graceway Supermarket when we arrived, though be prepared for expensive prices, not like home. Everyone from the front desk to the porters, maids etc were all very friendly and helpful with any needs or issues. They also rent bikes up in the front and it is a very easy ride down to the main shops and center of GraceBay. Or you could ride down to Leeward Village and Blu-Haven marina which is a bit more peaceful. There are also tennis courts and a market right near the front of the hotel for anything you may have forgotten etc. One little 'secret' we have found is going to that shop to buy some single beers as it is cheaper than the bar at the beach/hotel. Also for a rum punch they sell local rum in a can and a fruit Champagne drink in a can, mix those two together and bam, your own rum punch. as a comparison a can of punch and rum came to $4 while a Rum Punch from the bar is $10 and some change. There really is nothing bad about Ocean Club I can say. This is our 3rd time there and we will be back IN August and will continue to stay there. if your going enjoy. once you go to Turks you will be hooked
