We keep returning to this resort on this beautiful stretch of beach. We stay at Ocean Club because its laid back. Its a quiet hotel/beach area. We don't mind being a little further from town, but if you have children you may want to stay at OC West because you can walk to the restaurants/shops from there. They do have a shuttle service every half hour to Ocean Club West. The pools are kept clean, the gardens are well kept, & the grills are cleaned each morning. There are plenty of loungers so you don't have to reserve one. Guests who smoke need to not use the beautiful beach as their personal astray. There were cig butts under our umbrella in the sand. The Cabana restaurant by the beach is good. The staff at the restaurant is friendly. Love the music on Friday nights at the Cabana Bar area. We used the grills a couple of times. The hotel was busy when we were there (late May) so the grills were utilized often. There are only 3 grills at OC so we grill our food, then take it to our porch to eat so others can use the grills. The screened porches are great to eat on!We do buy fillets, hamburger & hot dogs at the Graceway IGA. The beef is very good. Our maid service was good. A few suggestions to management. I would LOVE an electric griddle in the room. It would be great for making pancakes and other items. Second, a clothes drying rack on each balcony to hang swim suits. This room didn't have one, but other rooms have. Also, we love this place because its normally quiet. However, this trip there was more guests playing personal music in the public areas (like the pool and on their balconies, late). We wish there was a restriction on this. Maybe something like utilize headphones in public areas/beach? Provo is a VERY expensive island. We like that OC offers full kitchens in most rooms. If you want to save money, then getting a room with a full kitchen is the way to go. You will also save money by eating at the two restaurants at the resort. Taxis are EXPENSIVE! You can rent a car, but remember Americans, they drive on the opposite side of the road in Provo and they have round-a-bouts!Beer and liquor is very expensive on this island as well. A case of Carona is $70 US. A bottle of vodka/rum is around $37. Tax on this island is 12%, ouch!
Just returned from 6 nights at the Ocean Club Resort. Beautiful, clean property with friendly helpful staff. We didn't rent a car so we really appreciated the shuttle to and from the Ocean Club West sister property. Our housekeeper kept our room clean and fresh. Staff at the Cabana Bar were always smiling and friendly. Best rum punch we found on island. This was the first time in years that we had not stayed in an all inclusive so we had a little sticker shock at the price of paying for all meals and drinks separately, but everything was always well prepared. Good cracked conch. Beach is incomparable. Even the rest rooms at the beach and pool were always spotless. It was never hard to find a lounge chair on the beach and there were always towels available. Business center computers were convenient when we needed to check in for flight home and print off boarding passes. Free WiFi was great for checking email and posting on FB. Overall no complaints.
We stayed for 6 nights at this resort. the resort is beautiful. the view was awesome. the only issue we had was at checkout. they charged us an additional 111.00 per night for fees and surcharges and for room cleaning. We were not told about this when we checked in. we are not happy about this!!!!!!!
We stayed in unit 8303 for five night and overall very satisfied with our stay. This unit is in the top (3rd) floor, the complex next to the main check in building. Even though this one bedroom unit is a garden/pool view, we are able to see the ocean from our balcony. The balcony is screened all the way so no worries about bugs. We ate our breakfast in the balcony every day while enjoying our view. The downside is that there is no elevator so you have to carry your luggages to the top floor. Inside the unit is very clean. It is vaulted ceiling so feels bigger. It has a toaster, a coffee maker, most of the pots and utensils you need for cooking. The bathroom seems to be updated with nicer tiles, rain shower head, and cabinets. All very clean and well kept. My daughter slept on the sofa bed but the spring seems to be broken so she slept on the sofa instead. The location of this hotel is near the end of the Grace Bay, next to the expensive Tuscany and Venetian. It is quieter and less kids compared to Ocean Club West and we like the exclusive feeling. Plenty of chairs and umbrellas to use. Beach is much wider compared to Winsung and Coral Garden. Pool area is smaller than Ocean Club West but we spent most of our time in the ocean so that does not bother us. There are some floaties for kids and adults for free which was nice. We rented a car for the entire trip based on the reviews and it was the wise choice. This island is small so everywhere you go is relatively short drive. We went to Chalk Sound, Bright Reef, and Thursday fish fry and having a car is really convenient and flexible in where we want to go. We did some grocery shopping at Graceway Gourmet which is less than five minutes drive and we didn't have to carry groceries like many other people did. Not to mention we saved money on meals and healthy eating too. Almost any ethnic restaurants are in Grace Bay Area so you can taste local foods or any foods you like. No need for all inclusive plan. We carried out food from Cocovan twice, very good food and less than a mile drive. If weather is not too hot, you can take the complimentary bikes there. I will come back to Ocean Club.
We read a lot of reviews and chose Ocean Club very carefully. We stayed in an ocean front suite. The suite was clean, well-maintained, and generally very nice. It is not quite what I would consider luxury, e.g. ceramic time flooring vs. marble/granite at other places we have stayed. However, we were quite satisfied with it. The view from the second floor ocean front room was just spectacular, being so close to the beach, with a view of the white beach and turquoise water framed in lush foliage. Being a just few steps from the pool and cabana was also very welcome. There is some music and noise being so close to the bar, but it was absolutely not a problem for us -- never too loud or too late -- and in general created a subtle, festive atmosphere. It was not a problem with the doors closed. As with almost any place on Grace Bay, the beach is incredible for any purpose except board/body surfing. There is a very nice stretch of beach to the right which doesn't have any hotels at all, which makes for beautiful sunset walks. One thing we really loved about Ocean Club was that, although there were a fair number of people there, it never felt crowded. We were able to wander out at lunchtime on any given day and snag an umbrella with lounge chairs on the beach. I think on one day we got the very last one -- at 1:30 PM. One thing we all liked is kind of hard to quantify: Ocean Club seemed to strike a perfect balance between nice/luxurious and informal/relaxed. We felt very much at home. Contributing to this was the staff. They were uniformly friendly, attentive and gracious -- and present when needed and unobtrusive when not. The cabana has pretty good food and a pretty versatile variety of offerings on the menu. We had dinner reservations off site for every night of our stay, but several times bailed in favor of just relaxing and staying on site for dinner. We did eat at Opus, also on site, pricey but generally extremely good. There is a convenience store on site, which was appreciated. One important thing about Ocean Club (East) to be aware of is this: It is a good distance (couple miles) from the restaurant and shopping areas. You can catch the free shuttle to Ocean Club West and walk from there for some things. For many dinners out though, if you don't have a car, factor in the price of a taxi -- which for round trip can be the price of a chain restaurant dinner back home all by itself. We enjoyed taking out a catamaran right in front of the resort, and I had a great dive trip with Provo Turtle Divers, which has a sales office on site. Just a few things about Ocean Club contributed to a less than perfect rating:- First, we felt somewhat cheated that none of the very pricey cocktails served at the cabana bar seem to contain any alcohol whatsoever. Note, I don't mean watered down, I mean effectively zilch. Without being too specific, suffice it to say that one afternoon we tested and verified this hypothesis. In contrast, when we went to the famous fish fry at the Bight, after just a few rum punches over the course of a long evening, we were glad to take a taxi home. We concluded that the cabana cocktails are simply expensive juice drinks and slurpees, and that we would have to buy something directly from a bottle (beer or wine) if we really wanted alcohol. Enjoying a cocktail on the beach can be a welcome bit of the vacation experience for some people. If this describes you, then I definitely suggest you look elsewhere besides Ocean Club.- Second, WiFi seemed to get too congested to use at dinnertime, and overall, the Internet connection kept dropping. Along with the need to keep re-authenticating, having to frequently "fix" the Internet connection for the children's various devices was a persistent, though minor annoyance. One final point: We generally had no issue with mosquitoes anywhere on the property. We did think we might be getting a few mosquito bites inside the room at night. I noticed that there were significant gaps along the edges of the screens covering the louvered windows, which could leave room for mosquitoes to get in. However, we never actually saw any mosquitoes while at Ocean Club, inside or outside our suite. On the whole though great experience with Ocean Club.
