OverviewTwo resorts in one, play at both! Right on Grace Bay Beach with a free-form pool at both hotels. Self-catering apartment-style units and up to 2 bedrooms, great for families.
Location: Directly on Grace Bay Beach, 20 min drive from the airport. Golf course nearby .
The hotel location is indeed wonderful -beautiful beach, clear water -and it has a casual and relaxed atmosphere. However, when I travel -the one thing I value is being able to get a good night sleep and wake refreshed. The rooms are very close with balconies which is relaxing during the day , but not so lovely when your neighbors are playing music and talking until 2am. Then I was awoken to the watering of plants outside my window by a strong hose at 7am. The grounds keepers have trolleys that they drag on cobble pathways early morning and 4pm in afternoons etc. I know the hotel needs to be Maintained and people do their work --but surely it can be coordinated after 8am. I would suggest you not get a room on the ground floor, nor near the front of the hotel which is by a car park and people arriving, dragging luggage on cobble pathways all day makes this stay anything but peaceful and relaxing. Too bad --because everything else about the place is just lovely.
Great relaxing first stay in Grace Bay. Selected Ocean Club West based on reasonable rates and decent reviews. OCW didn't disappoint. Our room, a junior suite, was perfect for 2 ppl. King bed. Sitting-area. Small, but full kitchen. Nice sized bath and best of all: Washer and dryer--so no need to overpack. All, from reception to housekeeping to grounds and bar staff, were welcoming and gracious. (Special shout outs to Desmond, Peter, John and Calvin: Thanks for remembering my favorite beach libations.)Great beach. Plenty of chairs and umbrellas. [Insider tip: Lay your flip-flops upside down on the flip-flop rack. 😉]
Just got back from an amazing trip to TCI, 4/4-4/9 and we stayed at the Ocean Club West. Our first time here on the island, so we didn't know what to expect. When you arrive at the airport, there are no shuttles to hotels, only taxis. They will spilt you up into groups according to hotel. For the two of us, to our hotel, cost was $33, plus tip. Check in at the OCW was not until 4pm and our room was not ready (got there around 2pm). So we had lunch at the one restaurant the hotel has, Solana! Nice view!!! Lunch & drinks were delicious, must have: jerk-chicken wrap. Our room was ready at 4pm, we were in building B room 231, a studio, which over looked the beautiful pool area. Every room has an enclosed porch, which is really nice especially at night, they breeze is fabulous. Our room was on the smaller side, but enough room for two adults-- bonus, it had a small kitchen & fridge. The location couldn't be beat of OCW. There are all kinds of restaurants, shops & a grocery store all within walking distance. It is a very safe island, you are able to walk around without being bothered, not like one of our past vacations, where you couldn't leave the resorts. We talked with one of our taxi drivers, who was a local Bishop. He told us there are almost 60 churches on the island, fun fact! Beach was absolutely stunning, pictures do not do any justice. The water is so clean & clear, you can see right to the bottom in 5ft of water. The resort offers kayaks, paddleboards & snorkel equipment for free, a nice perk, you can use at any time. Grace Bay beach is about 13 miles long, you can walk for miles & miles. There are also a few guys who walk up and down the beach asking if you want to try any other water sports. Offered: parasailing, tubing & banana boat rides-- decent prices too!One of the excursions we decided to do was a snorkel adventure with Caicos Dream Tours, which you have to book thru the front desk. For $89 per person, they provide a shuttle to the Alexandria hotel, where you pick up your snorkel equipment & the boat. You also get all you can drink (rum punch, beer, soda), they provide lunch sandwiches and a fresh conch salad, made by our captain. Snorkel lasted about 40 minutes, awesome fish & reef!!! Lots of color. Then we got to explore Half Moon Bay, also called Iguana Island. Iguana roam around and you get to see them in their natural habitat-- pretty cool! Had such a great experience. Overall, our first trip to TCI was a blast. One tip: bring a decent amount of money with you-- very expensive for meals, taxis & tipping. Best dinner we had was at Coco Bistro- make a reservation before you are on the island!! They fill up weeks in advance! Any other questions, I'll be happy to answer :) Cheers!
My new favorite place. We really hated leaving. If we could afford to live there we'd move today. The grounds are beautiful the suites very nice, get the view of ocean if you can. Having breakfast on the porch watching the most bluest ocean imaginable was like being in a dream. The staff we amazing. They sometimes needed a nudge but overall very friendly and accommodating. Being so close to everything made for wonderful evening strolls and I won't even get started on the beach....WOW! The food at the beach was great for breakfast and lunch. But, I have to say...as a golfer, it was great having the golf course right across the street! You will not regret staying at Ocean Club.....
We have been to Turks and Caicos several times and stayed here last week. Well maintained property and the Solana restaurant is a good option for dinner. The hotel is good for families, having a Grill set up that is cleaned daily, a large pool and great beach facilities. If you are looking for a romantic get away for 2 this may not be the best choice.
