We decided to go the non all-inclusive route on this trip and spent a little extra money on the ocean front room, which was worth it. The room came with a full sized refrigerator and freezer and a washer and dryer. The bed was comfortable, but a little soft. The place is absolutely beautiful and right on the white sand beach. There are chairs, little table and umbrellas out every morning and you can check out snorkeling gear, paddle boards, sailboats, etc. One thing it didn't have that we had at Beaches resort was reefs that you could snorkel over from the beach. I did get a lot of nice sea shells. The restaurant at the hotel was very good, but expensive. Drinks are going to be around $7 for a beer to $17 for mixed drinks. I would highly recommend stopping at the super market and loading up. It was the first time in my life I was happy to spend $51 on a case of beer. They do have happy hour everyday from 5 to 7 where drinks are half off. The employees there were helpful, though not overly nice. We found that the women in T&C weren't super friendly, while most of the men were. Wasn't sure why that was. They were all helpful, but I just couldn't help but think that the women were flipping me off the second we turned around. Finally, the maids were all over the place. One day they had our room cleaned by 11 am and other days we had to call around 3 to ask them to come by despite having the Service Please thing on the door for 6 hours prior. All in all, we are glad we tried this place out, but will probably go the all inclusive route in the future.
The hotel property is beautiful! The landscaping crew, under the watchful eye of Hazel, does fabulous work. The property is pristine. You definitely feel as though you are on a tropical island. The room was spotless! The greeting at the front door by the bellman with a glass of fruit punch was very welcoming. The front desk and beach attendants were wonderful, as was the managers of the restaurant, The Pelican. The waitresses in the morning/afternoon acted as though we were bothering them. Did not see them smile one time and we ate here 8 mornings/afternoons. The dinner waiters were much more pleasant. Overall, the food was wonderful except for the BBQ. It was cold and dried out...seemed as though they gave us old food instead of making us some fresh food. Try the risotto w/ scallops. The menu says it is an appetizer but is definitely enough for dinner! Delicious!!! We will be back to this hotel.
Let me start with the fact that the family REALLY enjoyed our time on Providenciales. Our stay at Royal West Indies was excellent overall.Typically we stay at all-inclusives and normally around Cozumel, so this was a nice change of pace for us. We selected the Royal West Indies based on reviews and price. I opted for an ocean view (a must) and the condo with 1 bedroom and the full kitchen. (Turned out this was important) Room 335 was an excellent fit for us.Food on the island is expensive, so plan accordingly! We opted to utilize the kitchen and went to the store a couple of times for groceries so we could eat breakfast and a couple of lunches from the room in an effort to reduce costs. There was a store on the Leeward Highway, an IGA I believe, which was a bit less expensive than the store right down the street from the hotel that caters to tourists. While they say it is walking distance to the Salt Mills shopping area, I would say it wouldn’t be a relaxing, comfortable distance. Doable, but a bit far for my taste. The grounds were beautiful and the staff obviously works hard daily to keep it that way. The quiet pool is surrounded by gorgeous plants. The beach was magnificent. White, soft sand, small waves…..totally relaxing. The bed was a bit too soft for my taste, but I have lower back pain, so this may not apply to everyone. The condo came with a couch that turned into a bed that I was going to have my sons utilize. The bed wound up being broken when we opened it the first night, but a quick call to the front desk resolved that with two roll a way beds. Two things annoyed me. The first was the fact that the front door had larger than normal gaps around it which allowed a lot of sound in. The fact that our neighbors had a crying child that was an early riser may skew my view, but I’ll share photos. The second issue was again around noise because the resort is right next to Club Med. However of the 7 nights we were there, only 2 nights were an issue because the music was loud, and close to the fence line it appeared. (Not a big enough deal to keep me from returning)Quick tip. At least from Houston the only direct flights were on Saturday.Wi-Fi worked very well in the room.We rented a small car from Dollar Rent-A-Car and I feel it was much better than depending on cabs to get around. Once you get past having to drive on the left side of the road. ☺
We had a completely wonderful holiday here at Royal West Indies. Friendly staff, very clean and well kept suite. We upgraded to a one bedroom ocean view suite on the third floor. Request building 1, 2 or 3. It was really nice. Kitchen was very well equipped if you choose to make some meals. Food is very expensive on the island so bring snacks and breakfast items. Try the Coco Bistro. It was the best dinner we had this week. The beach is incredible and there were always chairs and umbrellas available. You will not go anywhere else once you've experienced Turks and Caicos. Just amazing!
Jeffrey and his team are unbelievable. RWI makes you feel like family. Come here if you want to do nothing for a week! Amazing happy hour too!! Building 3 is incredible. Can't wait to go back. Thanks Jeffrey!!
