Overall this hotel was a great value. The beach was gorgeous and we had an oceanfront room (133) where the view was phenomenal. Loved waking up in the morning and sitting on the balcony watching the sea. The grounds were well kept and the pools (though we didn't use them) were pretty. A little far off from the town so if you have trouble walking I would recommend renting a car.Generally the staff was friendly and helpful, however we found the breakfast crew at the restaurant to be kind of grumpy with the exception of the managers who were always smiling and super friendly. Would have given the resort 5 stars but the prices at the restaurant were very high for food that was only ok.Overall, would recommend this hotel.
We booked out trip at RWI based on a recommendation of a friend. Although we enjoyed our stay, we would like to stay somewhere else that is close to the grocery store and plazas. It's just a little too far off the beaten path and the taxi rides are expensive a $10 a ride! A few things to note, this resort does not have a gym or umbrellas for the guests to use and we had to call everyday to ask for washcloths to be delivered to our room after housekeeping would clean our room. The resort itself was very clean and the service was friendly too. The beach is gorgeous and well kept but it would have been nice if they had a water cooler for their guests to refill their bottles with. Oh well!
Check-in was quick and welcome punch refreshing! Kendra brought us to our room and dropped off our bags. We had sent an email weeks before and requested a ground floor unit close to the beach as we are in our sixties and have trouble negiotiating stairs. They put us on the second floor in the building furthest from the beach! Go figure! We heard other people complaining about rock hard beds, however, our bed was comfortable. Supposed kitchen is a joke. No oven, only a microwave, small fridge and some utensils. Oddly enough, no can opener for our tins of tuna that we brought from home...Grocery store is a bit of a walk. We took the beach route as it was way too hot to walk on the sidewalk along side of the hot asphalt! Bring a couple of bucks as groceries will cost you a few dollars. Having said that, you can save in the end as you will cut down costs by having meals in your room. Also, we chose to have a big lunch at a restaurant and dinner in our room as it was more reasonable and cost effective that way.The beach is absolutely spectacular along Grace Bay. When we were there mid-June, the water was warm and calm. Most people just bobbed in the water and chatted for hours as it was so hot during the day. We've been to Turks & Caicos more than a dozen times over the years and have stayed at numerous resorts and a private home. Of all the resorts: Comfort Suites, Grace Bay Suites, The Alexandra, Royal West Indies, and Ocean Club West, our favourite was Ocean Club West. Beautiful resort, grounds and suites. The location is also in the best area close to restaurant, bars and grocery store--all within walking distance if your an older couple like us...One more thing: Turks & Caicos used to be a well kept secret in the early 90's...not anymore!!! It's been invaded by Americans from the eastern coast! Yikes!!!!
Overall the resort was beautiful. Grounds were well kept and clean, it was quiet and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Pool was clean, chairs were always available and the food at the restaurant on grounds was decent.
This place has beautiful grounds and nice staff. The beach is amazing and I would have given this resort a 4 or 5 star rating expect they have someone who owns the suite right below suite 222 who smokes tons of cigars. Our room and balcony smelled like cigars often throughout the week. When we asked this owner to ease up on the cigars we were told that he is an owner and if we don't like it we can move. Such a shame as we loved the rest of our stay. Being forced to endure cigar smoke and such a bad attitude from one of the owners is not what we paid for and you would think that this would not be an ongoing issue in 2017.
