Excellent location for London stay

The Citadines Barbican London is approximately 150 yards from the underground. It is within walking distance of St Pauls Cathedral and many other attractions. It was a fantastic location for the 6 of us spending a weekend in London and because it is an Aparthotel it provides you with flexibility regarding eating in or out. Great for spending a few days.Rooms are clean and the beds are comfy. There is a great little café over the road and a reasonable pub as well as a great little Italian on the corner.

Very Clean & Spacious!

The rooms were very clean & spacious! I stayed 7 nights, so, it was great to have a kitchenette available & plenty of space to work and 'live'. The staff was helpful & the location worked well, close to the Tube station and within walking distance to several eateries.

London weekend

The hotel looks tired from the outside and is tired on the inside, although it is currently undergoing a refurbishment the latest phase being the reception and ground floor areas, thus meant that there was no breakfast available in the hotel. However you do have a well equipped kitchenette to make yourself a basic meal.We were a party of 6 including a wheelchair user. Access to the lift was very tight for a wheelchair and the disabled access room still had a bath in it meaning if you are of reduced mobility this is not good. The rooms like the rest of the hotel that we saw are tired and in need of updating. However on a positive note the reception staff were very helpful and friendly if not very knowledgeable about the best places to go for breakfast on a weekend

Perhaps a good choice for visitors on shoe-string, less good for business

The Citadines Barbican was a first for me - I hadn't stayed in a self-service apartment before, and it fairness, the room was clean and well stocked for this purpose. There was a dishwasher, cutlery and crockery and a hob and microwave. For tourists trying to save money, I think the Citadines would be a good choice - no need to have expensive breakfasts and dinners, just make something back in the comfort of your room. Although, of course, it depends how much you can get your room for - mine was £330 for two nights which certainly isn't cheap. All the staff seemed to be French speakers, and signs were also in French, which might be a good benefit for Francophone visitors. Unfortunately, I travel on business and what I really wanted was a gym to distract myself from work and room service to fill me up, neither of what the hotel offers - I got a burger from the takeaway down the road. So in summary, it's not the height of luxury, but if you're not planning to stay in your hotel much, it might be a good value option.

My visit was spoilt by the reception on arrival. The first thing we were told on arrival was that they didn't have a room for us. Although we managed to resolve the problem it gave a bad taste to the visit. Other than that it was a good venue.
