Stayed here for 1 night with a friend, it was a last minute booking. Price wise was very cheap for a London, and when I got there I realised why. I was not expecting anything fancy however the whole place was very tired and outdated, something which I can live with as it was only somewhere to rest after a night out. The first thing that hit me was the smell, it was vile, can only describe it as sewage smell. Went to reception for air freshener, they promised to bring some up but we never received it. We ended up spraying deodorant and aftershave to make it bearable. I can not complain about the location as it was ideal for us, and the room was pretty clean. There was complimentary tea/coffee but no milk so could not use them. Usually in hotels you get complimentary shampoo/shower gel but none were provided, not a big issue as I took my own. We had a room with no view so don't expect this, we had a brick wall, luckily we had an opening window, just to help with the awful smell. We were advised it was a 24 hour manned reception so decided to leave our key. On returning the receptionist was asleep on the sofa and our key, along with others were just left behind the desk (all in reaching distance) for anyone to take. So not sure security is great as anyone could just walk in of the street. If I had not got a cheap deal I would have complained. It's not a hotel I think I'd stay in again. We did get a free breakfast but chose not to eat it on this occasion. So can't comment on that.
awful!!! Service very unpleasant. Rooms dirty. The phone does not work. The wireless kettle was not plugged in because there was no contact close by. We found broken glass in bed.No warm water! There was not much warm water because they spoiled the boiler and did not even notice .. the failure. We traveled with a child!!
No cleaning what so ever. Room dirty when we got there.Phone to the reception out of order.Worst breakfast ever. Marvellously bad.One bed was stashed up on boxes. No sevice whatsoever. You had to ask for more toiletpaper since they never checked.Grumpy people at the reception. Some of them barley spoke english.Bathroom walls were covered with "something".Didn't take credit cards.Lousy wifi.No hot water one of the days, no refund.
If I were you, I'd find another hotel! The area is full of them, so stay away from the Apollo Hotel in Bayswater.First of all our welcome at the Apollo Hotel was not very warm. The concierge were quite indifferent, and although their homepage says that check-in is 2pm, we were told to go and come back at 3pm - bringing cash to pay the stay, since their credit card-machine hadn't been installed - and he couldn't tell when it would be. The other concierges during our stay looked as they really wanted to be elsewhere. The elevator reeked of urine - but at least it worked. Our room was cold and dirty, it clearly hadn't been cleaned for ages, the former guests garbage was still in the room, and the walls in the bathroom were covered by mould fungus. The wi-fi didn't function very well, neither did the room phone and the tv network, and several small things were lacking (i.e. a lampshade, the toiletpaper-holder). Every day we had to remind the concierge to get our room cleaned (that is: at least give us clean towels and empty the bin) and give us new supplies of toilet paper. The breakfast was a joke - they served breadrolls and croissants as dry and heavy as cement, corn flakes coffee and juice, but nothing else - so the rest of the stay we visited the neighbouring cafés instead. The whole hotel looked shabby and not very maintained. The carpets were full of holes. Every morning we were wakened by heavy sounds of drilling and knocking, but clearly it was not works that found place in Apollo Hotel. And this isn't even a particularly cheap hotel! I've slept at other and much nicer London hotels at the same price (for instance the namesake familyowned Hotel Apollo near King's Cross, which I can recommend)The only positive thing I can say about Apollo Hotel Bayswater, is that the location is great.
This is a poor quality hotel, First of all waited 20 minutes for somebody to come to the front desk, I was then locked out of my bathroom, I waited 45 minutes before going back to reception to see what the delay was, the bathroom door was then opened, it smelt like stale cigarettes, I ran the hot tap for 15 minute before any hot water came through. It's definitely NOT worth what they charge for the room The shelf where the kettle is put is hanging off and so are the sockets This is written before I sleep in the bed . Wish me luck!
