Short break in London

Hotel was conveniently located 5 minutes from the tube station. The hotel lobby, restaurant and bedrooms have obviously been refurbished, the hallways have not so when you step out of the lift it's a bit dated! Room was a decent size, clean and bright. Bathroom small but functional. Windows were single pane and you could not prop the windows open on a latch so if it was breezy you had to have the window closed to prevent breaking it! This was not ideal as it was warm and the room didn't have aircon.Food for breakfast was fine. If you want a cheap, clean and cheerful hotel as a base when you are out and about in London then this hotel is perfectly fine.

O dear!

Although it has a great location, that's about all that's good about it. Allocated a room at the front, when I'd requested a quiet room. This was changed to a room at the back, overlooking the gardens. This would have been better but with no double glazing it was very noisy with families sitting drinking, was like staying above a pub. Rooms are very basic, no drawers, only a shelf. Sticky carpets too. Breakfast was nice except for being sat next to strangers when there were plenty of tables free. Waiter pouring the coffee was grumpy and poured it from a height so it splashed everywhere. On top of this, the policy of taking payment as soon as you book is not good. Wouldn't recommend.

Forget it!!!

Ate at the restaurant. The food was inedible. The risotto had no flavour at all. When the plates were cleared away eventually no one asked how the meal was. I told the waiter the food was tasteless he took it to the chef then offered me another meal. Too little too late as I would have had to sit and eat alone. The service was just as bad. I had to go to the bar myself as I asked if my daughter drink could have more water added - the waiter said yes and then did nothing. I could have understood if it was busy but it wasn't. Only gave one star because you can't give minus stars.

Good Central Hotel

We arrived early and got allocated a room immediately by the very friendly lady at reception. The room was clean but had no ac but the windows did open. You could ask for a fan at reception. The shower had the best pressure I had experienced in a UK hotel which was great. The hotel gardens are wonderful but unfortunately the typical British weather left us unable to sit outside. Breakfast was lovely, great variety and the waiting staff keep your coffee topped up. The rooms do need some tlc but overall I would stay here again.

Tiny room & no air conditioning

This is the third of the Imperial Hotels I have stayed in & whilst it look ok from the outside the rooms are much smaller than the other hotels.I stayed in a room on Southampton Row & had to have the window open as it was hot & the room didn't have any air conditioning. I asked for a fan on both nights but not were available. The room was small & the bathroom extremely small. Towels were a good size & shower was excellent.Breakfast was good; however, there were no egg cups to go with the hard boiled eggs which I found strange.This is not a hotel I will return to as I really need to sleep when I am away on business.
