We booked with the imperial hotel across the road and got a free meal with this hotel. We thought this one looked okay outside but when we got in we were the only ones going to be here. The food was okay but the place looked like it needed a good clean. The staff were fine and seemed happy to have some custom.
We stayed at the Bedford Hotel for a three night break in London. We found all of the staff to be very pleasant, helpful and efficient. We were booked for Bed and Breakfast but ended up having dinner in the hotel restaurant each evening as the menu was varied, competitively priced and the food was excellent. The hotel has been refurbished fairly recently and the restaurant area and terrace are lovely. Our room was on the sixth floor at the rear and was comfortable and quiet. We noticed that the hotel has applied for permission to replace the window on floors 1-6 at the rear and this work is certainly needed. The room itself could be improved by painting, but no doubt this will be carried out along with window replacement. We were very happy with our accommodation and would highly recommend this hotel as a base for a London break. It is a short taxi ride from Kings Cross station and buses to all areas of London are easily accessible from the hotel. Bloomsbury itself is a very interesting area and well worth walking around to see the lovely Squares and Gardens. The British Museum is 5 minutes from the hotel and there are many interesting shops and cafes in close proximity. We will certainly return.
I could not find the restaurant separate. We booked with Superbreaks and part of the deal was a evening meal at one if the four restaurants in the four chain hotels. We decided on Bloom & Willow the menu looked like it would suit us. Worst food I have ever been served in a restaurant. I ordered risotto, my daughter ordered linguine and my son got steak & ale pie. We wait over 30 minutes for food to arrive, and it's was terrible, my risotto was served on a plate and resembled vomit & did not taste much different. It was runny and tasted awful, luckily I ordered a Greek salad from the starters to come with the main, therefore the two olives and a bit of feta where a life saver. My daughters linguine was stuck together and was a very small portion, and again just dropped onto a plate. My sons looked great, however the chips where over cooked. Anyway as we where hungry we ordered 3 puddings explaining time was tight as we had theatre tickets. No puddings arrived after 15 minutes so we paid the drinks bill and left. The bar tender explained the crumble takes time to heat up! No excuse.Overall the food was terrible, and the service was not much better. The meal may have been complimentary as part of hotel booking but really, it was awful.
I came for 2 night with my son, 1st room we got was horrible: a terrible smell of cigarettes and the toilets flashing didnt really work. this was on the 6th floor and it looked so old so the moved us to another twin room, which was OK. the hotel is old and outdated but the service is good. nice helpful staff with good English breakfast. good location
we have stayed here for 2 nights as a base for the RHS .Lovely hotel good room and breakfast lots of restaurants nearby.A good location friendly staff and competitive price.when visiting London again we will use this hotel
