Best Western The Cromwell
- What's Included
A good location near Gloucester Road tube - very quick into the centre of London - with some decent eateries in the vicinity. This is the end building of a long terrace, with a clean, light entrance and a small bar. There is a Happy Hour in the early evening. Without exception, all the staff I met were friendly, particularly at breakfast, which is a good mix of cereals etc and full English. The rooms are VERY small - but this is London, so don't expect anything more. I stayed here a couple of times, and in one of the rooms, there was literally nowhere to put my (small) case, other than on the floor in front of the door. Good job there wasn't a fire in the night.....Cromwell Road is very noisy a lot of the time, but the rooms at the back are very quiet. The problem here, is that they don't get the sun, so everything feels slightly damp when you unpack your case at home. The bathroom fittings are very good, but the desk/wardrobe etc are a bit knocked about. There is a hospitality tray with tea & coffee. The cleaning is good in the bathroom, but there was a very thick layer of dust and a broken coat hangar on top of one of the wardrobes, and round the back of the seat of one of the desk chairs. The price is competitive for the area, particularly if you join the Best Western Rewards programme, which gives you a discount on your first stay.
The Cromwell is centrally located near the tube station Gloucester Road / cromwell junction. Hotel is a 3.5 star or so but gives value for money. I had a twin room on the top floor (4th) hotel is slightly worn. Bed are ok. TV is ok and room size is ok to be in central London. Bathroom seems like is newly refurbished and has a modern look and disign.
I have just returned from one night at this hotel quite frankly I was disappointed Firstly the reception staff were not very welcoming at the beginning and spoke bad English which was disappointing as we were British staying in a a London hotel and our own country. They couldn't get our key as the machine was broken The man on the desk let us in to our room and actually said while we wait for the key sit on the verandah, which looked lovely but the noise from through the trees of kids screaming was unbearable. The bed just fit in the room and was too close to the wall the carpets were not cleaned from the last guests. My mum went for a freshen up in the bathroom and the water wouldn't go down the sink, we also noticed a strange sound like a generator coming from the next door room.We went out for the evening and came back got ready for bed, the noise was still there which prevented me from sleeping most of the night,it was like a washer on spin or a generator there was also lots of noise from some of the rooms.
Stayed for four nights B&B. Main entrance has three very deep steps, a disable entrance is indicated. Very friendly staff, particularly the young lady who served us breakfast every morning. Room at front of building overlooking main road. The noise was no problem to us and if you want the windows closed there is air conditioning.Room spacious and clean and the bed comfortable. Bathroom was clean. However the room was 'tired' and needed freshening up, I.e damp patch in corner of ceiling, signs of wear on headboard, paint needed refreshing. There was a cracked floor tile in bathroom, and signs of mould on sealant around bath.HOWEVER, non of this distracted from the comfort of the room and was bought to the attention of the staff on booking out. Be aware that the web site classes the room as a superior double and as such advertises the fact that there is fresh fruit and juice in the room, not so.Overall would recommend this hotel and would return.
A slightly run down but still acceptable hotel offering good value in an expensive part of London. Room was clean, but small and with a small window that doesn't open. Breakfast was good, however. Happy with it but nothing special
