If you book at travelodge you know it's not going to be luxury. It's a cheap option to get you out of a jam when you need to stay somewhere. However I believe there are levels. And this travelodge is beyond a joke. We stayed in this hotel for my graduation, requesting a family room for myself and my grandmother (with access needs) and then a double for my mother and her husband. The first issue was the family room extra bed, intended for myself. This bed was entirely unusable, basically just a box of springs wrapped in cotton. I could feel every single spring ring digging into my back as I tried it out. I'm not just precious. It was horrific. This meant that I had no choice but to sleep in the bed with my grandmother. Okay so maybe that's just me wanting a decent night's sleep and being demanding. Asking for too much perhaps. Before bed I wanted a cup of tea. Went to find that the mugs and spoons from the previous people hadn't been replaced and were filthy. Went to reception and they told me to find one in the bar. Not a hint of customer service or apologetic sentiment. Okay. Fine. Disgusting but whatever. Next day I go and graduate. Happy times. I return to the room expecting to find the room somewhat made back up but no. Half a job done. Picture enclosed. I've never seen a hotel make a bed like that but please. I could've made it better than that. I'd rather you just didn't make it at all than make that sort of half bothered effort. They also didn't take away the mugs we had used. As a side note. The lifts are also broken. They say 'going down' and proceed to take you up. Not the end of the world but irritating none the less.
This is the 6th hotel I've stayed at over the past 2 weeks (travelling for work) and this is absolutely the worst so far. The location is good for the airport but everything else is decidedly mediocre. Clean room but incredibly sparsely furnish, antiseptic hand foam (no shampoo or other toiletries), terrible food - check out the photo of the garlic bread circa 1970! Plus you have to pay for parking and wifi. I got a cheap deal but going rate for tonight is £85 (€100) which is a total rip off
We booked with travel lodge for the late night menu and because we beleived it was walking distance from gatwich. Only accessable on foot if you are jesus as theres a river blocking access. Tried to ring the hotel for directions but they did not answer. When we finally arrived the late night menu and drinks where cancelled so we had to get food and drinks from a service station. 3 members of staff where on the desk but non could answer the phone. Given the key and told 6th floor that was all the info we got besides no food which we asked for. Terrible experience, rubbish service, rude kitchen staff. Went for breakfast. Ran out of almost all hot food only scrambled eggs and sausages left. Didnt bother complaining as another customer did so and it did not resolve the issue. No body seated us and we had to go to reception to pay for the food tickets as we where ignored waiting at the " wait here to be seated sign ". Never again do no use travel lodge. Poorly run!!
Standards are slipping at this hotel. We have used the hotel many times, but over the years we can see that things aren't as good as they were. Not enough beds, not enough towels, no plates at breakfast, very little on offer. Went to the hotel next door for an evening meal due to lack of choice. I hope it improves, because it is so handy for our travel needs.
We needed a cheap place to crash after a late flight, and Travellodge gave us that option. We booked two rooms and they were both as expected. Nice to get a decent tea bag in the room instead of the usual fruit / Earl Grey / Breakfast tea options
