Firstly - it's a £10 taxi away from Gatwick airport (so NOT "central"). On arrival front desk operator told us to wait. We arrived at 3:15am, got served at 3:30am because none of the self check-in's were working. Staff member then got round to serving us, and gave us key's to a room, that somebody was sleeping in!!! We were then told we woke him up as he had later complained. This was on the ground floor, then the surprised front desk coordinator, then sent us up to the fifth floor. We then later found out, this wasn't the first time this happened that night. The room was really run down. Brown marks all over the carpet (which looked like a stampede had gone over it. There was a brown stain in the sink. We finally got over the shock of the poor quality, and managed to settle. When we were then kept up by really noisy pipes (which sounded like a car alarm going off). We couldn't sleep assuringly as we were concerned people would come in to our room. There were coffee cups in the hall way that were left out over night, which STILL hadn't been cleared up as we were leaving (and we were checking out late). There was no sincere apology, we were ensured that we would be refunded - but are still awaiting this.Don't fall for the cheap price - and the misconception that it is "central".
Stayed the night before an early flight. Exactly what you would expect from a Travelodge. Clean, comfortable and does the job for a night.Parking was an issue at the site, as the person dropping us off wanted to stretch their legs before driving home and took a long time to get a space. No free wifi which is disappointing in this day in age.Room was huge actually, with a huge waste of space in the room (presumably a family room normally), with just the bed - could've fitted another double in easily!Had some nacho's in the bar restaurant which were ok, nothing special but tasty enough.Good location in terms of proximity to the airport and had booked early enough to get a good price for the night. The shuttle bus is very good and very regular, £3 charge each a little much considering other hotels (holiday inn/premier inn) around europe are either free or a tiny charge, but was still a little cheaper than a taxi. All in all, good value and did what we needed, so no complaints from me.
There are plenty of hotels in this area so choose another one! The room is cheap enough but you are fleeced for parking. The staff are unhelpful to the point of rude. Our room wasn't even cleaned after the first day.Half the breakfast items were not cooked properly.I could go on!
We stayed here for one night after flying into Gatwick and an early departure the next morning. The room was a reasonable size with double bed (room 38) and allowing for the fact that we were “crashing out” at 10.30 p.m. for a 3.00 a.m. wake up, we slept surprisingly well. The staff were amazing and a good tip, use the hotel for taxis to the airport – they have a much better deal than the airport taxis (£6.50 instead of £10). The shower was really good. However, the loo seat needed tightening down on the bolts and the shower soap dispenser had its face plate removed for maintenance and, to be fair, we didn’t complain. It didn’t matter to us, we were only sleeping there and we just pushed the dispenser button and it worked fine.We didn’t use the bar or food area although it appeared to be popular with the residents and there was a large area for children to play. The big No-no for us was though the miserly half hour free wi-fi then pay £3 for 24 hours. In this day and age that is unacceptable. We used the free wi-fi on the No. 100 bus going to Crawley for some afternoon shopping. If a bus service can offer free wi-fi we’re sure a large hotel chain can too. We will be seriously considering alternatives next time we fly out of Gatwick. It is a basic hotel and used mainly for Gatwick airport and people in transport. Would we stay there again, we have already rebooked for one night later on in the year.
This was the worst hotel I HAVE ever in. Chef was missing for breakfast on Saturday unpleasant staff food simply bad Pisa burnt, chicken Marsala cold I will never stay in a travelodge hotel again could not wait to checkout.
