Citadines St Marks

I've now stayed at the Citadines St Marks apartments four times and it is a regular choice for me and my friends. It's quite good value (although, I'm sure it is now more expensive than it used to be) and the location is very good (5min walk to Angel station).I've always been in different apartments and they are all clean, although, some could do with a lick of paint here and there. The one downside is that, on my most recent visit, I was told that car parking is £15 a night. For London, this may be incredibly competitive but, on the three other occasions that I stayed here, car parking was free / included with the booking. My last stay was in April 2016 and, not only did I not have to pay for parking, my brother was just visiting (not staying in the hotel) and he was able to park for 6-7 hours with no charge. When I mentioned this at reception, I was told that I "had been lucky as we've always charged for parking" ... I disagree. I did notice that the car park that was once securely gated and with plenty of hotel parking spaces now has a broken front gate and the spaces are shared with "JustPark" and "Unite Union"; meaning that the hotel spaces are in short supply. Formally 18 spaces; now "JustPark" have 3, "Unite Union" have 10.It's a shame that this has now gone as it was a massive plus point for this place.
The apartment was okay nothing exceptional. You get what you pay for. Staff very helpful and friendly. Best part is the location easy walk to Angel tube station with lots of local places for eating and drinking. If you want to cook the Co op across the road has you need. Comfy beds and no noise from outside (excutive apartment lowerground).
We stayed at Citadines St Marks for a trip to London for New Year's 2016. It took our dog and we paid for an executive room so our son would have a double bed in the second bedroom. When we arrived we noticed that we had been put in a standard room and rather than immediately refund us the difference in price it was necessary to check our booking (to see if we had made a mistake!) The apartment was roomy but tired with broken shower fittings and marked floors. The advertised wifi didn't work properly as it was super slow and kept dropping out. Having a dog, my wife had to take him outside in the early morning and was greeted at 3:00am by a large group of men in the foyer, who were milling about with no apparent purpose. It looked like they may have been running a mini-cab service! It was raining on one day and when we asked if we could borrow one of the umbrella's left behind by other guests we were told that we could rent one for £5! Overall, it was not what we were expecting from Citadines which usually has a much higher standard of service in our experience. The location was ok but is not as central as their other London properties.
Stayed here on New Years Eve, very handy location, well appointed room (slightly in need of refreshing) but as an alternative to a hotel would definitely use again.Friendly greeting at front desk and a gym on site.
Okay, Even though , very basic interior and no internet . It's clean and in a good Location ...service is friendly , bedrooms are okay ! Good for sometime, but I believe after a week in can be depressing in a place like this, too little charm.
