Booked this as it was near to a venue that my husband was needing to attend on Saturday. My son and I were doing alternative activities in the city so we thought an apartment would work well for all our needs.I'll break this in to pro's and con's to keep it as brief as possible:Positives:SPACE / FACILITIES:Spacious apartment with separate kitchen; living room with sofa bed; ensuite bedroom and w.c. off entrance hall.Kitchen equipped with basics if needed to prepare simple meals..and all white goods etc.The hearing was good. We had ample heat and hot water for all of us.Parking.. good safe parking within gates of hotel. STAFF:Friendly staff and efficient with book in and check out.. only took a couple of minutes Not a lot else...Negatives:TRAFFICThe worst aspect for me was the traffic noise.. we have stayed in lots of city centre hotels but this was horrific. we might as well have been outdoors on the road as there didn't seem to be any insulation from the traffic. The noise didn't lessen either through the night and just seemed to be at a constant level. Luckily my son can sleep through anything but my husband and I had very little sleep. It might be better in other parts of the hotel that may not be on the roadside and if there was an option to request a quieter room I would recommend doing so. LOCATION:To those not used to London, this hotel appears on a map to be fairly handy to access London sights etc but with heavy traffic over the weekend, journeys in and out seemed to take a long time and racked up the taxi fares.. Journeys were approx £15 a time, not too bad in some respects but mounts up when this is repeated over duration. (I'm not keen on tube so partly my own fault I guess). Also, we would normally stay on Kensington side and have never taken more than 3 hours to travel in by car. (From Herefordshire). The journey in however was over 4.5 hours and the journey home again on Sunday pm took the same. Traffic was at a stand still from A40 direction and getting back on to A40 was the same. (on Saturday am and Sunday pm it took over 1.5 hours to travel 4 or 5 miles! I've never experienced this before and can only think that being situated off the A501 ring road was part of the problem. The locality was fairly rough and pretty run down and so we didn't even step outside of the hotel other than to get in to a taxi.. maybe unfair but that was the perception on arrival.DECOR Our apartment was not representative of any of the pictures I had seen on either Booking.com, (which we used) nor this site and not from the hotel site. Our room(s) looked more like a bog standard office space to hire but with bedroom and living room furniture instead. Magnolia walls; fake pine laminate flooring; glass furniture and fake pine furniture/ finishes; and office blinds with no curtains. Without exaggerating the only thing that had any colour in the entire apartment was the one free bar of soap in the bathroom. This may not seem like a big thing but I don't think I could have stayed any longer..it was depressingly plain and soleless. REFURBISHMENT REQUIREDOur bathroom in the ensuite felt tired especially the bath. These areas get used so much and do show it sooner but it just wasn't that nice and I certainly didn't want to get in to the bath.EXTRAS If you book here you need to bring everything with you.. there are very few extras in rooms such as toiletries or drinks etc. 4 sachets of instant coffee and same in teabags with 4 milk tots in kitchen. In the ensuite there was a single tiny bar of soap and that's it. I know this isn't a 4 or 5 star hotel but really!Although we found the staff helpful enough it was noticeable that no one asked how our stay had been...? I can only suggest that they don't expect much positive.Whilst we were not expecting great things from this accommodation we were disappointed and probably should have chosen a more centrally located hotel with a few more comforts. That said, if you just need a base and if you can sleep through traffic noise and don't mind the location and lack of comfortable decor there is good living space here that hotels in the city would not provide. It just wouldn't be a choice we would make again.
Staying here for 4 nights. Rate is not cheap but a large spacious room with kitchen. Near Angel tube station. The apt does not offer daily cleaning service unless you pay more. Bed mattress is soft. If you like a big room with kitchen and to stay in central, this may be an accommodation option
I have stayed here maybe a dozen times over the years. It's a good location if you want to be in the City to work. It's now a bit tired and the rooms are in need of an upgrade. But they are pretty good. 3 star at most though. This stay my bed was a mess. All of the springs had gone in the mattress such that it was like a futon and there was a dangerous broken floorboard under the carpet to the left of the bed. Sadly the most negative thing about this place is the staff. It's never been good. And it seems to be deteriorating. You sometimes get the feeling you are checking into and staying in a detention centre.. the demeanour is not welcoming, genuine or instinctive. I very often have had problems making myself understood (I am English) and I just think it's an issue management need to get a grip on. I certainly don't blame the folks I deal with.. it's not their fault. They are doing their best I am sure.
We loved and were surprised by the spaciousness of the rooms. The staff was friendly and helpful with our questions about the metro and directions for the area. I wished for door stops so that I could prop the doors open on a few occasions. Kitchen was lovely and it was fantastic having 2 bathrooms!
It's convenient location and charming façade belies the reluctant and sometimes unhelpful staff. It appears to be an establishment that is managed by people waiting for something better to come along - they don't appear to enjoy their job. From the beginning it was clear there was an issue with the booking, but no ownership or initiative was taken to sort it out. Everything was a problem - and staying two weeks, we were charged an extra 60 pound for a cot to accommodate a guest staying with us for two nights. The cot then remained in the lounge room for the rest of the stay in spite of several requests for its removal.Cleanliness was not at a standard I think fitting of the tariff. Carpet was grubby and walls needed painting. The apartment we stayed in bore little resemblance to the photos.Didn't spoil our fantastic holiday, but didn't add anything to it either.
