Crowne Plaza London Kensington
- What's Included
Beautiful and very clean hotel in a good location near Kensington Gardens and museums such as The National History Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum. Visited the hotel with the family. We booked a twin club room but were upgraded to a duplex suite. This was a lovely surpise! The club lounge was also very nice with good breakfast and some refreshments during the day. It's a four star hotel but since we had no complaints, I'm giving it five stars. We enjoyed our stay (and I can be a bit picky about hotels!) and would strongly recommend The Crowne Plaza Kensington to other London visitors as well.
I stayed here in August. It's a great hotel. Location is awesome. About a 5min walk to subway station. Right across from a grocery store, which was great to pick up a few things. A variety of restaurants near by, good price ranges. Short appox 15 min walk to Kensington park, which is beautiful. Close walking distance to several museums. The hotel staff was extremely helpful. I had no issues with the WIFI. Worked fine for all of us (4ppl). The rooms were clean and spacious. Hotel had great little extras, like bottle water for guests in room, no charge. Apples at the front desk.I've recommended this hotel to other friends and they have all had good things to say. I've also booked again for this spring. If you book this hotel you won't be disappointed
We have come to rely on Crowne Plaza hotels and this one more than met our expectations. From proximity to great museums, fine restaurants and public transportation, a well appointed room with all needed conveniences, impeccable housekeeping and strong concierge advice, the Kensington location was superb. The club amenities are truly meaningful -- not useless frills -- and provided us with a place to relax after a busy day. For a few days we felt like real Londoners.
Went to London to see a show, we arrived early and were told our room was ready which was a pleasant surprise. Room was lovely in quiet area which we asked for. Massive bed and very clean room, shower cubicle and bath in bathroom. Right near the Gloucester Road tube station so easy to get anywhere. All the staff helpful and pleasant, definitely stay there again the next time we're in London.
During a sightseeing trip to London, we elected to spend a few days at the Crowne Plaza on Cromwell Road. Our decision was encouraged by a choice to stay at an IHG property, and while there are a few in the immediate area, the Crowne Plaza had, by far the best travelled reviews.Unlike the others however, the Crowne does not offer onsite parking, nor a convenient drop off point for guests and their luggage. One has to park on Cromwell Rd. to facilitate a quick drop off which was less desirable and a tad frustrating. That said, the location of this Crowne negates any need for a vehicle, as the Gloucester Tube station is less than a 100 yards away, and the station also features a bus stop where the infamous Big Bus Tour also has a stop. We were sold on the location alone which affords walking distance to popular sights including Hyde Park, the Royal Albert Hall, Kensington museums and Earl's Court, while being similarly close to restaurants, eateries, and grocery stores (Waitrose, Tesco Express and Sainsburys) all within an arms reach of the property. In this vein, we found the laundry and dry cleaning prices at the property extravagant (probably expected for this locale), however two private dry cleaners in the area were better alternatives.Accommodations at the Crowne are adequate, however, we upgraded to a 'family' room with two double beds after finding the standard room with one double a little claustrophobic. The former room had AC issues, whereby it continuously pumped hot air into the room to the point of becoming unbearable. Consider opting for a larger room, particularly if one is used to commodious quarters offered at most North American hotels. The beds were plush and the rooms very well sound proofed with little ambient noise from the busy streets below entering the room. USB chargers in the rooms, as well as complementary travel adaptors were useful in charging dilapidated tech gadgets, weary from an overseas flight. If possible, consider a room at the rear of the property which overlooks a private garden, a rare and serene opportunity to unwind after a busy day in the heart of the city. It really is a nice spot for some respite even in late winter! The hotel offers a modest sized gym and sauna in the basement. While the gym wasn't the most lavishly equipped or modern facility in my experience, it was tolerable for our short stay. Note to the hotel operator; TV reception on cardio equipment is negligible and requires attention. In all, the Crowne on Cromwell would have received full marks were it not for one major faux pas worthy of mention; one of the travelers in our party experienced a medical emergency during our stay necessitating a call to ambulatory services. Unfortunately, the phone in our room would not function for outside calls including emergency calls. To compound matters, the concierge did not know where the closest medical facility was, nor was the hotel staff able advise on how best to contact first responders. Despite this unexpected turn of events, staff were very compassionate and eager to assist as best as their training and knowledge would allow. I'm confident that some remedial awareness (notwithstanding the obvious repair of the phone) would mitigate similar situations in the future while enhancing guest and staff safety alike.Would consider a future stay at this Crowne during subsequent trips to London.
