Close to the Thames river with modern amenities. Ideal for business travelers. Their 14th floor Sky Lounge has a private room for meetings or weddings and excellent views of the city.


Overview
DoubleTree by Hilton London Westminster is ideally located next to the Tate Gallery, the Thames, the London Eye, and the Houses of Parliament. Combining chic, modern interior design with a flair for contemporary living, this hotel is superbly suited to a North American clientele. All of its 460 air-conditioned bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped with flat screen TV, mini-bar, stereo, wireless Internet access (fee), bathrobe and in-room safe. The hotel also boasts a stylish bar and restaurant. When the weather is nice, enjoy a snack on the outdoor terrace. An indisputable choice, this hotel provides a modern alternative to large, traditional hotels.

Comfortable at a great loaction

Stayed here for 3 nights in a suite and absolutely loved it. The pros:- Wonderfully located just yards from London Victoria station- Very quiet within the rooms despite it being in a high traffic zone.- Suite size was large with separate sitting and bed sections, a writing desk, mini bar, coffee machine, coffee kettle and other usual amenities.- Plenty of food choices available nearbyThe Cons:-Breakfast was on the expensive sideWeekend rates are very attractive but they go up significantly higher during weekdays.Overall a great place to stay in Central London.

Checked out 2 days early...

Bad points;- mattress was solid, with no spring or bounce to it at all!- corridors smelt of cigarette smoke - tea stained menus and door hangers- mold in room fridge which had turned black.Good points;- great location, right next to Victoria Station.- great shower, powerful and hot.Our stay;Arrived at DoubleTree about 9am, aware check in wasn't until 3pm however we did not wish to haul our suitcases around the shops. We were greeted by a friendly trainee staff member, who advised us that it may take a little while due to her being a trainee - no problem, she was very welcoming and polite towards us, gave us a free welcome cookie too.We were advised that the previous guests were still in the room so told we could leave our luggage with their concierge and return later at 3pm when the room would be ready. So we went shopping and returned to the hotel at 3:40pm.We were greeted by a different member of staff who advised us that the room was not ready yet and gave us a coupon and told us that we could have any drink we wanted from the bar for free whilst we waited for the room to be ready.Went to the bar, coupon in hand to be told by the barman that we were only able to have either a lager or a glass of the house wine... neither of which we wanted.Anyway about 4:15pm we were told the room was ready. We took our luggage to the room (floor 9, one of the luxury rooms). As always the first thing we did was jump onto the bed, tired and needing the rest. Expecting to breath a sigh of relief that we were finally in the room, but no, more a sigh of being winded by the mattress, which offered no bounce or spring what so ever! We had a look round the room and noticed the breakfast menus and door hangers had old tea stains all over them and numerous marks on the duvet cover.We went downstairs and asked the staff if they had another room with a softer bed which we could try as the current one was solid and in all honesty we would have been more comfortable sleeping on the floor.They said that all they could offer was a mattress topper. Which we accepted and went back to our room to await it's arrival.Whilst in the room, about 2 minutes later, we received a call from a lady who stated she was the guest manager. She was absolutely lovely and advised that she is going to have a look at their junior suite and asked if we would like to check this with her and offered us a free upgrade to this room.We went to the suite and discussed the issues with her, she was very apologetic for them.We accepted the upgrade and the mattress topper and advised her that we would stay here for tonight and if we do not sleep very well then we would check out in the morning as this mattress was only slightly more springy. She said that was fine and explained that if we checked out they would only charge us for the one night.We went to put some water in the fridge to keep cool however when we opened it, it was dirty with black mold inside. We also ended up sleeping on the pull out sofa bed with the mattress topper due to how hard the bed was. We went to check out the following morning and were pleased to know that the staff that were working were aware of the issues we had so that we didn't have to explain everything to them again.Overall, will definitely not be staying there again and very over priced for what is offered.

Excellent Location. Walking to tour meeting place

Excellent location. We took the train from the Heathrow Airport to Victoria station with the one day pass. The hotel is just across from the train station. The hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. The fresh warm chocolate chip cookies sure a nice treat. The room is very clean the bathroom is very nice and newly renovated. The room is small as usual. This is London . We booked for 3 persons, the queen bed is comfortable, but the roll away bed is too soft and not comfortable. Our room was facing the train station on Saturday morning at 4:30am it was very noisy, many trucks are loading unloading and was very noisy. Sunday morning was ok . Excellent location closed to many tours meeting place. Also it is so close to Buckingham Palace we walk to watch the change of guards in the morning and walk back to the hotel to get our luggages and train to our next destination. Very convenient location. Very helpful and friendly staffs. Excellent cookies. Hotel is small but clean. Don't expect too much it is not a luxury Hilton brand. It is a nice hotel with excellent location for a short stay if you have tours lined up.

Much to be desired

The free breakfast was not very good, so we ate out all but one of the days. The concierge wouldn't greet anyone who entered and neither did any of the other staff near the door. He would watch people walk by without even smiling. One of the days I asked if he could call me a cab, and he said something about not being able to as cabs don't come. At one point FOUR people were in the lobby (not behind the desk) all talking and didn't even look at us as we entered. One of the days, not enough towels were left in the room. Got some dry cleaning laundry done (and it wasn't cheap) and was told it would be left in my room. It wasn't, and I had to pick it up from the desk. One of the items was missing so I had to go back to the desk, the attendant told me he realized something was missing but I was already in the elevator. At other hotels, he would have brought it up or at the very least called the room to let me know. This hotel really needs to re-train their staff as they don't seem to have a grasp of the basics in hospitality. However, the location was ideal as it was less than 10 minutes to the Victoria station.

Great location if you want to stay neat Victoria station

Stayed here recently, the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were half decent but the air conditioning was really loud and the shower was spraying water out of the sides, so not that effective. We never had anything to eat or drink in the hotel so cant comment about that, I would stay here again even with the little moans about the AC and shower.
