In June, our family of 5 stayed 4 nights at Fraser Suites Queens Gate in South Kensington. I chose this service apartment for its location and price. It is less than 5 mins walk to Gloucester Road Tube station where there are 3 underground lines, Picadilly, District and Circle Line. This gives it easy access to many places of interest as well as direct access to Heathrow and King's Cross. Fraser Suites Queens Gate is also in the museum district and within walking distance from Victoria and Albert and the Natural History museum. There are 2 supermarkets outside Gloucester Rd station, making it easy for us to pick out stuff for breakfast. We had booked a one bedroom executive apartment which came with a full kitchen, a king bed and a sofa bed for 2. I had wanted to get a 2 bedroom as I prefer proper beds to sofa beds, but they had none available. My eldest son was only staying 2 nights in London as he need to get back home earlier. So for the first 2 nights, we had an additional rollaway bed for my 10yo daughter. As she is under 12, the rollaway bed was complimentary. I paid GBP254 per night including VAT which I felt was very reasonable. I booked under a spring promotion and we were given a bottle of Prosecco when we checked in.The apartment was beautiful. It was a split level with the king sized bed in the loft. The kitchen came with a microwave, fridge, washer and dryer, but no dishwasher. After having stayed at the Old Town Chambers, where they had a full oven and dishwasher, I was a little disappointed that there is no dishwasher here. They should have provided a dish rack for drying dishes. They did provide a clothe rack for drying clothes if you do not wish to tumble dry, which was thoughtful.Service was good too. We needed to print a few confirmations of some last minute booking we made on the Internet, and the reception kindly did it for us. They were alway welcoming us back each evening with their smiles. Overall, we had a great stay. The convenience of the location is really a big plus point.
This was our 2nd stay here and we were very appreciative of our room upgrade when we arrived to an executive suite. We were staying 10 nights and the washer/dryer was a blessing to get some laundry done - there is however a laundry in the basement if you are not provided with this facility in your room. The extra space of having a seperate bedroom from the living space was welcome as well. This hotel is in easy walking distance to the Gloucester underground and there is a waitrose located there making it easy to carry back any food purchases. Plenty of restaurants nearby and a great pub called the Hereford Arms in Gloucester Road. Short walk to the Natural History, V&A museums and Harrods.
We stayed in a one bedroom suite which can comfortably sleep 2 adults and 2 kids (on the sofa bed). 5 mins walk to underground station, very convenience for site seeing and shopping. Also lots of good restaurant nearby.
We spent a couple of comfortable nights here but when we arrived we were told we were on the top floor. We went up, expecting a room with a view over a bit of London but instead we had a view of a concrete wall and chimney pots! We did ask to change but were refused although we were a. early and b. the place was quiet. The large room was comfortable and bathroom very nice but spoils by the lack of view.
My husband and I stayed in an Executive suite for four days at the end of September. The elegant room was one of the most attractive we have ever stayed in and large. There was almost no drawer space but a large clothes cupboard and a small closet just for suitcases. The induction stove, microwave and washer dryer were all high end appliances and we had to read the manuals to figure out how to use the stove top and washer. There was no automatic coffee maker but a large French press. Good selection of nice dishes , pots etc. Our room did not have an oven. Comfortable bed and nice large towels. We liked the non-fogging bathroom mirror. Lighting as in all hotel rooms these days was dim. Good thing our e-readers light up, otherwise would have trouble reading in bed. Our room was facing Queens Gate and the road traffic noise was noticeable but easy to ignore.Great location. Short walk to Natural History, Science and Victoria and Albert Museums, Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park and Harrods. Short walk to Gloucester Road Underground where conveniently there is a large grocery store as well as a small late night store across the street. Good small restaurants close by. Reception staff were efficient, helpful and pleasant. Daily maid service was great and our room was spotless. Our hotel rate included breakfast which was average with the exception of the watery coffee which was poor. Hopefully the coffee machine will be sorted out soon.We would stay here again and recommend this room to anyone looking for a spacious, attractive efficiency unit.
