Some good, some bad

We stayed here for 3 days in London enjoying being tourists!Good points:Great location, less than 10 minutes walk down the road from Waterloo Station which made it really useful as a base for our tourist travelling around the Big City. Nice welcome from reception, a surprise "upgrade" to a Premium Room on the top floor, and a couple of glasses or prosecco to start our celebrations, thank you. Got to the room and found it was the one behind the lifts - normally not a good sign as the lift gear is usually really noisy - but no worries there, we did not hear as much as a ping from the lifts all the time we were there. The room was "compact" but, the views out of the double aspect windows and in-room fancy coffee machine made up for that! It was also spotlessly clean throughout our stay. Now the not so good (not really "bad" - but need attention):Continental room service breakfast - did not take too long to arrive, but when delivered there were no pastries (menu said pastries & Mrs Toolman does not like bread), when we queried this the room service guy just shrugged and said "no pastries"!! A quick call to reception sorted this and he was back with some pastries.......no shrug this time :-)Also we tried to use the terrace bar, but they kept it closed due to a "meeting" and we had show reservations - so could not wait the 30 minutes it was going to take for them to "prepare" it. Would I use the hotel again? Yes, probably, if the price was right as the location was pretty perfect for us.

Very nice hotel and rooms

The newer hotel had everything you need but the star was the morning breakfast. The rooms are the typical European sized but everything was so new and clean. Only issue we had was the electrical kept tripping a breaker that required maintenance to fix. But I will return and stay there on my next trip.

Stayed at this hotel for one night we were looking for a good quality hotel central and this was excellent. The room was very clean with air conditioning. The breakfast was one of the best i have come across for choice and was very good.the roof top bar was very nice to chill and take in the views. 5 min walk to Lambeth north tube station.

Best things come in small packages

Had never heard of this place until friends suggested meeting here for a few drinks. What a great little find. Super friendly and attentive staff, great cocktails, not expensive for the setting supplied. It's a small venue, inside and out but the views are amazing. Outside terrace shuts at 9pm but inside stays open until 11pm and you still get the amazing views over the city. Two very small negatives, only one mixologist working behind the bar so a bit of a wait on the drinks and the toilets seem like they were an after thought. Will definitely be back.

Fawlty Towers in the City!!!

We arrived 2 hours early and our room was ready - great! As expected it was small but spotless. We were on the 11th floor with a good view of the gherkin. In the evening we went to the Skybar which was a joke! We arrived at about 7.30pm and told there were already 10 guests outside so we could only drink inside. Our cocktails were ridiculously priced and had the most basic presentation I have ever seen. I expected a Miscoe Mule to arrive jn a copper mug with mint leaves and lime. Instead we got vodka mived with gjnger ale in a glass with a straw. Sad!!At 8.45pm we were told we could have a seat outside as some guests had left. We got settled only to be told the Skybar closed at 9pm for health and safery reasons??!!We then went down to dinner. We were tolld that they had to check with chef if it was ok for us to dine. We were reprimanded for not having a booking. As I told him - at check in nobody asked us if we wished to dine so we assumed a reservation was not necessary. There were only 2 couples dining. We were eventually invited in. After looking at the menu we left - v poor. Expected there to be more tapas for a Spanish restaurant. On checkout the receptionist was very sweet and talkative. I forget her name but it began with M. Location is close to Westminster but a rather complicated walk from Waterloo. We preferred using Lambeth North Station.
