I was impressed with the decor in the room - cream and taupe - and the bathroom was spotless. The room had a fridge, ironing board, a huge bed and hidden tea and coffee making facilities! Only spotted them (in a cupboard) later on. The room was quite cold (March) and there were no blankets. The restaurant was really quite expensive so we went to the airport to eat. The only thing I could criticise were two grease spots on the beautiful taupe silk headbord! Not a good choice of material.
Reception was understaffed and booking in took an age. Fortunately the concierge began to book people in to reduce the wait. The room was comfortable but the air con was inadequate. The Garden Restaurant was a major disappointment, the only food offered to us was a carvery/buffet that was if poor quality. The only redeeming feature were the desserts, we had several! People who were seated later were offered menus for the Sports Bar but we were not. The noise from the Sports Bar was obtrusive. Breakfast was on a pop at with the dinner buffet. I can remember using this hotel 20 years ago when the Hilton name meant quality, now it means nothing. In future we will use a North Terminal hotel and get the shuttle.
Great hotel for ease/location when travelling to/from Gatwick South Terminal. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Good selection of food choice in restaurant. Our flight was delayed and we phoned the restaurant and they kindly kept the kitchen open an extra 10 minutes. Be sure to use the pre-check-in and select your room. Some rooms can be quite a walk, but hotel is well sign posted.
My wife and I recently stayed the night before an early flight to the Caribbean and again on our return when we arrived back at Gatwick early on Sunday morning. The location prompted our choice as the covered walkway from the railway station and back to the airport made the hotel very convenient. We did not use the bar or restaurant facilities choosing instead to eat in the airport. The rooms were very easy to book online and an easy check in and cheery staff made our arrival easy. The rooms were very comfortable and as we were on the ground floor easily accessible. We arrived back at the hotel after a long flight and were very pleased to be allocated a room which was ready for us to use at once. As is often the case we were ready for a decent cup of tea and soon used up the room's stock of tea bags and milk but we were pleased that fresh supplies were delivered promptly when requested. As we normally fly from Manchester we may not have the opportunity to use the hotel again but I would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to others.
Stayed here for 1 night before flying out the next day. I booked a double deluxe room with Breakfast. The room was more of a standard room in size, in my opinion. However, the room was clean and very comfortable and we had a lovely nights sleep. The breakfast was superb. The variety was excellent and it was a great start to our holiday. Parking can be a nightmare. We decided to book the long stay car park at Gatwick. We were able to leave our car at the front of the hotel while we checked in and put our luggage into the room and then headed off to Crawley leisure park where we ate and visited the cinema. On our return we parked at the long stay car park and caught the shuttle to the South terminal where you can walk through a connecting walkway to the hotel and not struggle with suitcases as they were already in our room.
