As an airport hotel, this has the advantage of convenience. Access to South Terminal is via lifts and through the car park, all under cover but not very direct.Check in was slow. Our room was fine. Good size, clean, good a/c, comfortable bed, good bathroom. No complaints there.The bar/lounge shows its age in lack of space and style. Service was good(at the usual inflated airport prices) but the ambience was very 1960s and rather tired.There are only two lifts, one of which was out of service. There is no staircase alternative except fire stairs to the outside. THAT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!We chose the Hilton because we were flying from the South Terminal but it is not up to the standard of the Accor hotel at North Terminal.
Stayed here last night as we had an early morning flight. The positives are that the beds are comfortable and the location is great but the hotel is awful. It's very run down, the lifts rattle like a theme park ride. The facilities are poor at best, bathrooms shabby and grotty. Mould on the walls in the loo - carpets stained, water damage to the ceilings and generally a poor quality hotel. Had a drink in the bar down stairs and was charged over £16 for a large G&T. Had a lovely burger in the bar which was really good. Staff were not helpful, would not stay here again, especially as you can stay at the premier in for a fraction of the price. We will not be back.
This hotel is great if you have an early morning flight from Gatwick. Bed is extremely uncomfortable and it took several calls to the front desk for a wake up call to have the call answered. Digital check-in made a very late check-in a breeze.
Stayed in this hotel overnight before an early flight the following day. Excellent service huge executive room. Booked the VIP parking too and all worked out so well will definitely do it again. Special mention for the staff who were excellent.
I chose this hotel because I wanted to be close to the airport for an early morning flight. It turned out to be a good choice because it's joined to the airport by a walkway. You only have to pass through the walkway, multi storey car park and the road outside the airport and you are in the South Terminal in less than 10 minutes.The room I had was fine and there was several dining options. There was a restaurant in the hotel which I didn't get a chance to use and also a Costa Coffee for snacks and drinks. There was also more dining options located in the airport so plenty of choice.If you want to be close to the South Terminal then I would recommend this hotel.
