Hilton London Paddington
- What's Included
Our booking was last minute for an unscheduled stop over due to a delayed flight and we arrived at the hotel around 10pm with just enough time for a nightcap then bed and, therefore, I cannot comment in great detail in respect of our stay as we had no opportunity for dining, using any hotel facilities or for taking a good nose about. What I can say, however, from our personal stay, the hotel is extremely convenient for Paddington, we were not required to leave the station in order to gain entrance.Check in was okay, if not slightly slower than average to attend to us and, as we used the fast track on departure, I am not fully qualified, in this instance, to make full comment on the service from reception. The service in the brasserie, both for our nightcap order and breakfast was pleasant and friendly and the hotel offers an excellent self-service breakfast with a large, and more than adequate, variety of hot and cold selections. The hotel décor/style is ‘art deco’ and attempts to border on the ‘grand’ with its quality lacquered wood, grand staircase and chandeliers but, for me personally, it felt as if it was purporting to be a bit more upmarket than it actually was. Having the little ones with us, we booked out a superior family room (not specifically by choice but this was the only family room apparently available that night, on their website, when booking) which, although not an overly large room, consisted of 2 good sized, extremely comfortable beds with crisp white linen and comfortable pillows and a very good sized, light and well-presented bathroom but the room had minimal relaxing space and personally, I found that the room was expensive for what it actually offered – the Hilton at Heathrow (pre-holiday) was far less so than Paddington and not only did I find that Hilton more relaxing and casual but the fantastic adjoining rooms, we were allocated, were extremely spacious and well facilitated. That said, the room at Paddington made for a good night’s rest and we found the sleep quality (with minimal noise) to be excellent. The room itself was spotlessly clean and the toiletries quality and overall it did have a certain amount of style and charm. Overall, in my personal opinion, this hotel aims more towards the business guest/fleeting traveller and I felt that this was reflected in the over inflated rate and, for me personally, this Hilton did not offer value for money. This hotel would never have make my list of considerations, for a short break or future stay in London due to its location/value but, if it is a hotel close to Paddington station you need, then this is probably the one for you.
The Hilton London Paddington is well located with friendly and efficient staff. Stayed two separate nights there before and after flying from Heathrow airport. Excellent location, with direct stairs/elevator to station/underground from hotel lobby. Thames link express from station to Heathrow - 15 minutes.Good transport links to all of London from this base.Hotel with character and history but modern amenities and good food.
Stayed there for a week on a business trip. Let me highlight a few good things first: Given it is at Paddington station, great location... very good connectivity, easy to get around, good restaurants, Hyde park in walking distance. Good Indian restaurant and decent breakfast buffet spread. I've stayed at Hilton in many places, this by far was the disappointing experience... it just didn't feel like a 4 star Hilton property. From reception to the room, everything felt unwelcoming. No information was provided on checking until specifically asked for. The room, corridors felt dated and need attention/maintenance. Lifts are super slow and at time waited as much as 10-15 min.. Broken bathroom tubs/showers head was very old and need maintenance. It gives me a feeling that hotel not managed well. Overall average experience... not close to the Hilton I expect. If at all I choose this hotel again, it will be for location but nothing at the hotel specifically.
Stayed in this hotel the night before my flight from Heathrow so I could catch up with some friends in the area. The hotel was great and The room fantastic but it was a quest to get the room through several elevators and corridors it took about 10 minutes from walking in the door!
This is a typical hilton hotel but what makes it great is its location. you can access the hotel via the paddington train terminal. its also 10 min walk to Hyde park. They also recommend an amazing india restaurant walking distance from the hotel. For these reasons I say its very good. but the rooms are a typical hilton room. we checked in very late and my son was hungry, even though hilton has 24 hour room service they only had cold sandwiches but the chef made us a hot burger. So The service is great, thank you again for accommodating us.
