Hilton London Paddington
- What's Included
We needed a hotel close to Paddington station - and this place met that need very well. However the hotel looks stuck trying to be a high quality hotel in some areas but not quite meeting the mark in other areas. Rooms are very nice and spacious. And quiet in case you wonder re noise close to the train station However, front entrance is dirty and has smokers scattered around the entrance which makes arrival through cigarette haze unpleasant. Reception service is ok - but only ok - and they seem a little short staffed. Concierge service staff were a mix of helpful and abrupt. Cleaning staff woke us accidentally early this morning looking to clean our room several hours before check out. Upstairs conference area was very crowded with difficulty accessing bathrooms through the crowd from the somewhat overpriced downstairs bar and food area. Lack of available free wifi was a surprise. Overall at first glance the hotel may look to be quite “well dressed” but on closer inspection the suit is a little marked and threadbare with a mismatched tie and the shoes are actually football boots.
I have stayed at different hotels in London a few times and I must say this has been the best so far. The rooms are very spacious and the iron and ironing board in the room were really handy. I came in through Heathrow Express which is so much quicker than coming through Gatwick. The staff was pleasant and helpful and I will definitely go back there on my next trip.
With the Heathrow Express at Paddington Station this hotel is an ideal option to one of the generic LHR airport hotels. You can have a few hours in London, have a better choice of restaurants, and get to the airport in 15 mins!Well appointed hotel with well appointed rooms in Art Deco style. If you are a Hilton Honors Gold or above, access to a good Executive Lounge that overlooks the platforms of Paddington station.
I stayed at this hotel several years ago now and left with the thought that I would not be rushing back as it was very average and its Hilton Honors recognition was non existent. So when I had a need to be in this area of London last minute and I redeemed some points for 1 night it was with low expectation. What I can say however is the stay was excellent on pretty much all levels. The checkin process at the Executive lounge entrance was quick and they upgraded me to a Junior Suite, upon inspection however I decided that as it was on the First Floor it was not ideal as I am a light sleeper and could hear quite a bit of noise. I went back down and explained expecting to either have to wait (as it was only lunchtime) or to get a very basic room. This didn't happen though, I got a lovely room with a terrace on the top floor, no issues no fighting just great service. The room was lovely and the terrace even better, it did feel slightly tired compared to some hotels but everything was well maintained and clean. The only issue at all with the room was the lack of sockets by the bed, which I do feel this day and age should be a must for any hotel. The lounge had a selection of white or red wine and spirits to choose from in the evening along with a selection of hot and cold nibbles. In the morning for breakfast it had a good selection of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and toast on request along with other items. It was compared to many lounge offerings very good. The service in the lounge was also excellent, both in terms of efficient and friendliness.I can only go off my experience and that is that the Hilton recognition was excellent with the upgrade, every member of staff was helpful and friendly. It does feel slightly dated in places but overall was really impressed. If they can just update the rooms to be a little more modern traveller friendly (which at a train station hotel I feel it should be) then it would be an excellent rating. I will certainly return to this hotel and hopefully the service will be similar at which point I will again consider it excellent as then it will show consistency.
Good staff, busy hotel.. rooms clean tidy and well presented. Local shops and plenty of food places nearby, Paddington station walking distance. Good surrounding night life. The room was cosy and spacious, room service offered a good selection room of foods. A great place to stay. 7/10
