Holiday Inn Oxford Circus
- What's Included
I stay here on a regular basis with work. The only good thing about this hotel is the locationIt appears to be run by individuals whose customer facing skills are somewhat lackingTo arrive this week at 5pm and the room not ready, just not acceptable.Bar service too was extremely slow, but no one seems to care.Glad I'm not spending my money on this place as it simply isn't worth the price they charge.
Was visiting hotel during the weekends.Location was good for central shopping.Room was just ok,nothing really special at all. Also was very cold in the room.Tall guy and blond lady on the front desk were always laughing, discussing some funny stories when I was arrived and tried to get some information..But in total check-in was friendly and efficient. In overall was good.
The location of the hotel is great, it's roughly 5 mins walk from the main shopping area of Oxford Circus and very close to Oxford Circus and Bond Street tube stations, however the hotel it self is a disappointment, it is very dated, small the corridors and rooms are dated, old carpet not even matching in places, scuffs on the walls, the rooms are tiny, the wood work is all scuffed, overall the rooms were poor for the price of the hotel. I'm actually a gold member so used my points for the stay, if I did have too pay I would have been fuming for the price the hotel actually charges and the disappointment you feel once you there. Apart from the location the plus point was that the staff were friendly and helped where we needed them at the end of the day it's not there fault the hotel chain is offering a rubbish hotel for a ridiculous price!!
This is the perfect hotel to stay if you want to be near the heart of West End shopping. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from Oxford Street and is extremely convenient. I have stayed here several times purely for the location. In terms of the rooms and bathrooms, they are fine but agree with other reviewers that they need a refurb. My main bugbear is the plastic towelling mattress protectors on the beds - I never encounter these in any other hotel I stay in! Before each visit, I request they are removed - if not you can spend they whole night sweating and wondering why - but they are always there when I arrive. Again on my latest visit, the dreaded protectors were in place. I had checked in early - the room was not ready - and returned to the hotel about 6pm, to find the protectors were still on the bed. I then had to queue at reception to tell them again - I had reminded them on check in about my request earlier in the day - which I found rather irritating as I was due out. In terms of staff, the concierge is extremely helpful while the reception staff are to be honest, not great. Unfortunately, I found one of the receptionists's understanding of English rather limited and had to defer to her colleague - more queuing! However, despite this, I would stay here again - I had a good nights sleep and in terms of breakfast, there is no need to eat this in the hotel as there are plenty of places around, particuarly at St Christopher's Place which is about a five minute walk way. And if you fancy a later breakfast, head for the various department stores nearby.
Unfortunately this branch of the Holiday Inn is not what I would expect from a large chain. When I checked in I enquired about breakfast and was told when it was but not that I should purchase a voucher for it at reception, so when I went for breakfast without any payment method I started breakfast and then was told I needed to pay in the restaurant and could not put the charge to my room. I was made to feel quite uncomfortable. Having agreed to sort it out after I had eaten the restaurant manager managed to resolve this with reception by reopening my account and enabling me to purchase a voucher then, the receptionist obviously didn't understand the situation as she then directed me to where to go to get my breakfast. It was not possible to add it to my room when I was in the restaurant as they had closed my account. The room was quite worn and tired, the bed was perfectly comfortable but it was not worth the amount that my company was paying for me to stay there. If you are looking for a room in London I would first look for another hotel chain before settling for this hotel. I won't be returning.
