I booked this hotel as we were visiting Olympia for the baby show and thought I would book something with Spa facilities as this was our last weekend away together before our first child arrives. Well, what can I say, I really regret my decision to book this hotel. I called in the morning to confirm the reservation and wasn't impressed with the lady I spoke to on the phones attitude- so a bad first impression. Be prepared to wait to check in- we had to queue for reception every time. The staff on reception are moody and unhelpful- not a very nice welcome at all. The lady who checked us in mentioned something about our room being upgraded- God knows- if our room was an 'upgrade' then I wouldn't want to see what we originally would have got! The room was tired and very small. We unpacked and went down to the spa for a swim- I had paid for passes for both of us as extra knowing I couldn't use the sauna, steam room or jacuzzi as I'm pregnant, I thought the extra money I paid would be worth a nice swim and relax next to the pool alone. Well I was wrong. 5 minutes after being in the spa and just 2 lengths in the pool we left. It was very busy for such a small pool- which I suppose couldn't have been helped, but 4 loungers when there was 15 people in there? So I didn't even have anywhere to relax next to the pool at 32 weeks pregnant. 2 people were even sharing a lounger. The pool itself was filthy- the stairs were broken but still in use with a bit of scabby yellow tape wrapped around them, mould over the jacuzzi steps, dirty changing rooms the list is endless. Oh and yet again, a moody unhelpful spa receptionist. As we had only checked in half an hour before, I wanted to go back to reception to ask for a refund for the spa so they could see how long we had spent in the spa. I was told by a drab, moody man that it was part of a pre paid 'package' well no, that's not true as I didn't purchase any package and added the spa passes on as an extra. He got the manager out who was also unhelpful who said there was nothing he could do. If anything, I have been mis sold to, as the pictures on the website of that pool must have been taken a while ago! The worst thing about this hotel is the noise. I had the worst nights sleep. I still can't work out where the noise was coming from but all I could hear was what sounded like big pieces of furniture being scraped along a hard floor. All night. I called reception at 1 am and again at 2am and they couldn't tell me what it was. Other noises like people coming in late after nights out ( you will hear a lot of this!) I can forgive but this furniture scraping did my head in. It went on until way after 2am. The receptionist basically told me she didn't know what I was on about. Breakfast was fine. The food was hot and we even got a smile off the waitress. Our last weekend together was ruined by this hotel, there are much better ones around- avoid this one at all costs. My main suggestion? The staff are in desperate need of training in customer service- including the general manager who seems to not have the slightest clue!
Good location, 5 min to High Street Kensington Tube...We were not too bothered with the size of the room as we are used to the size especially when you go to Tokyo, Japan...Negatives:1) the ventilator in the bathroom was extremely noisy, the noise gave me headache, would not like to stay in the bathroom for more than 2 mins !!! no option to switch it off as the ventilator is linked to the light switch of the bathroom...2) the design of heavy room door which the doors slam shut automatically, this create a lot of banging doors at night if other guests are not aware of this...Gentle reminder: if you take your car to check in, go to their underground parking, rather than using the meter car park outside as they charge 2 pounds for 20 mins... don't risk it by not paying as the traffic warden is just around the corner and is ever so ready to give you a ticket !!!!Nevertheless, will stay here again next time for the good location.
Small, but well appointed rooms. Lobby is fine, but one doesn't stay there long. Hotel Wi-Fi is slower than almost any third world hotel...shout out to Senegal and Guyana, you're better than this London treasure.
Our stay here was excellent!! I was concerned as many of the review said small rooms I did find them a little tiny but the service and employees certainly made up for this. You only sleep in your room, Their were many excellent public places where you could sit and have conversations. The complimentary breakfast (full English) was outstanding.Again the entire staff was very accommodating and professional . Would stay there againLocation was also great close to both bus and underground. Lots of great Pubs in the area
Oh looks good, but no substance, and we all know beauty is only skin deep. Good location, good seating area in reception, but that's it. Reception staff are polite but not knowledgeable, giving keys out to rooms that were already occupied, surely that's a security issue. One member of our party didn't even get a room until 6.30. Decided to eat in the restaurant, but apparently having to wait 1 hour and 10 minutes for our meal was because they were so busy, the restaurant was nearly empty! When the food arrived it was over done and for some people it was inedible. Waiting staff were poor, not keeping us informed and unapologetic. Breakfast was ok, but the food was warm at best. Rooms are tiny and the bathroom claustrophobic. I really wouldn't bother, netter hotels in the area.
