We arrived for our Anniversary trip to London only to find the hotel had changed names, as well as all the room numbers and computer system had also been changed. We got Moved twice before we finally got a room that was "Nearly" what we had booked. We'd booked an Exclusive Room but ended up in a room that "closest" size to what we had (did someone else get more than they paid for..??) After being moved about we were told "that something would be put into our room for our anniversary", but this never arrived. We are a couple that never complain about anything but I hope Holiday Inn read this and hopefully know how we feel about spoiling our anniversary weekend before it had even started. So now we will have second thoughts on ever booking a Holiday Inn room again after this "Utter Shambles".
Very bad spa, if you can call it a spa, everything is cheap, old and not working. Bad cleaning in spa and swimming pool ice cold., hot tub very small and bad smell. We tried to talk to manager but that was not possible. Tried that 3 times and always they had some excuse for not to talk to us. We did send e-mail and got no response! We had room no.8028 (Olafsdottir)
Admittedly Holiday Inn had only just taken over the property but what a complete shambles! It took 20 minutes to check in whilst the duty manager looked on. Double room was tiny as evidenced by the fact that the bathroom door was a sliding one as a standard opening door wouldn't have opened. No draught beer. A standard bottle of cider is over £7. Buffet breakfast is extremely ordinary.
Myself and a friend had booked a spa day before the name change over and were slightly unsure what to expect but the hotels reception area was lovely looking. It is a bit confusing to know where the spa itself is, but staff were very friendly.Staff in the spa were really nice and helpful, with complimentary tea and towels. There was a small hire for robes and slippers were unavailable (stated on the wowcher details), but you could help yourself to towels. The changing area was a bit small, but great hair drying and shower facilities. The swimming pool was a nice size, a bit loud from the children's lessons, kind of took the relaxation away. The jacuzzi was quite small, but worked fantastic. The steam room was a highlight and thoroughly enjoyed that. When our treatment came round we were having facials and were able to share the room. The two women did fantastic jobs and made us feel really welcome and relaxed! Enjoyed the citrus cream/oil the most and wanted to know what it was once over! I would go again to this spa, I think the time we went was spot on, (2-5) as the childrens swimming lessons were a lot busier then and the changing rooms were a lot more crowded.
This hotel is within walking distance of the main shopping area downtown. The hotel lobby is really nice and spacious with lots of seating and helpful staff. The rooms are ok but really small and only had a small desk to sit at. The bed was not bad.The lobby had free internet, but it was 10 euros per device per night? Wow! even the most rundown hostels I have stayed at had free WIFI. The staff member seemed embarrassed, and said since we are staying 3 nights it would be 10 Euros for all devices per night. He then gave me a stack of paper slips with logins and passwords for each device to log in every 24 hours. The first day they internet did not work all day and the staff said someone was working on it. The next 2 days it did work, but was slow and dropped the connection quite often. Upon checking out they removed the charges for the internet due to the bad connections. Please just provide free internet in the rooms and adjust the policy at this hotel. I would have given it a higher rating if this internet issue had not taken place.
