Millennium Gloucester Hotel London Kensington
- What's Included
Nice hotel, lovely staff, great that you got hotel credit- worth using in the bar and for breakfast. Brilliant location and very easy access from Gloucester Road tube station. However, the rooms are a little small and need refurbishment
I've worked and stayed in London for many years but only recently came across this hotel. Fantastic location, luxuriously appointed and very friendly and helpful staff. Added to the great value, this will be my chosen place to stay from hereon in.
ROOM REBOOT!!!! Avoid at all costs!Stay12/18 - 12/24 have made me reconsider my recommendation of this hotel. Room 1: No heat. No water pressure. Changed rooms to one with no heat. Maint staff acknow problem-offered space heater?!?!!! 2nd rm change. Peeling paint, no H2o pres Room 2: Filthy carpet. Gaping window gap. Door barely closed due to warped carp/floor. So much better than room 1, we stayed. A LOYAL CUSTOMER WILL NEVER RETURN!!!!
Staying was comfortable located next to Gloucester Road underground station there was special offer back early this year 30% off . famous coffee shop and Grocery store near by like Waitrose, Tesco & Starbucks. its pleasure stay with this hotel
The doorman upon entering the hotel is sharp and a wonderful start to the experience. The lobby is plush and well laid out. The front desk staff are kind but meek and sometimes ineffective (culture difference possibly?) (they had difficulty in explaining the exact procedure in which to properly use the food vouchers, causing great confusion and embarrassment when eating at the hotel restaurants). When we got to our room we found it tidy but tired. The carpets well stained and did not look like they had even been vacuumed. It was also frigid cold. Now we are from Alaska, it is winter, we are okay with cold weather. But the hotel room was frigid to the point of us shivering! We contacted the front desk and offered a solution (extra blankets for each of us and a space heater) until they could get maintenance in to fix the heating. Upon our return to the room after dinner, they had left us one blanket (2 people and 2 twin beds, maybe we are suppose to fight for it to get ourselves warm?). It wasn't until the second day we got a space heater, but the problem was that none of the USB outlets worked, so we needed the outlets to charge our phones so that we would have tickets, maps, and communications during our touring of London during the day. Plus charge our backup batteries. (Yes we even hooked up to the USB on the tv to help charge) We asked for more blankets which we eventually got the next day. The heat was never fixed during our 3 night stay. Also, one of the beds broke. Kid you not, plopped onto bed (okay maybe shouldn't have plopped, but really it was an exhausting day of exploring and it wasn't a goofing off belly flop, just a standard plop), and one of the wheels broke off. LOL at this point we were simply laughing at the absurdity. My partner slept with his bed at an angle (lucky he can do that) and the next morning it was quickly repaired while we were at breakfast. So the good things:1) Location. The Gloucester station tube is across the street. Fantastic access! Boots pharmacy, Tesco Express, Starbucks are as well. (Grab a bag of Epsom salts from Boots to use in the tub after along day!)2) pick up location for Evans Evans Tours (their Inner Circle Stonehenge tour with Oxford and Windsor Castle is fantastic!)3) breakfast is a large buffet and quite good. 4) food vouchers can be used for breakfast or other meals at Humphrey's Bar or a lovely Asian restaurant noted on the voucher. (Good food, good service both, and super convenient since they are right there). 5) Doormen were a great touch. 6) tea and biscuits in the room (which we used daily)7) Tub that you can soak in8) fridge so we could pack lunches for the next day. Points to consider:1) Lower ranked/cost rooms (singles, doubles, not special rooms) are tired, outdated, poor heating, stained dirty carpets, insufficient outlets for modern necessities. 2) Shower head is quite low (I'm 5'5" and barely got my hand in between the shower head and the top of my head. My 6' tall partner had to crouch/stoop). So go in knowing what you are getting. Hopefully things will improve to meet the flashy first impressive from the lobby.
