We visited the hotel recently and were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel had mixed reviews but we couldn't fault it in any way. The room was small as expected but not too bad by London standards. It has everything you need but best of all was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice and the hotel is right opposite Grosvenor Rd Tube station which is a big plus. Lots of coffee shops and restaurants around also. Would recommend for a short stay in London.
We were attending the BBC Proms and choose this hotel as it is just a 15 minute walk to the Albert Hall. ( as well as the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum and a number of other attraction)The staff were professional and friendly and made you feel very welcomed. The room was well appointed and spotlessly clean - but a bit tired. The wash basin was badly cracked)We had a basement room - with windows, but it was a bit disconcerting to find that the stairs outside the window was the main staff route into the hotel - we felt always on view - blinds would have been appreciated! It was amazing to see the traditional breakfast restaurant transformed into 'A Taste of India' restaurant for the rest of the day.it is very convenient for Gloucester Rd Tube Station. So would be happy to return when we need an overnight stay .But probably be looking for something more personable if we were staying longer
I stayed at Montana Hotel for two nights and had a single room with economy bathroom. The hotel offers a nice Indian atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and the room was very clean and spacious. The shared bathroom seemed advanced in years but was also clean. The hotel is just opposite of Gloucester Road station. Starbucks, Tesco express, Boots and some restaurants are in the same street. The traffic in the morning was a bit noisy. Air conditioning was very good. I can definitely recommend the single room with economy bathroom for short stays!
Stayed for one night when attending Wimbledon. The location was very convenient on the district line coming and going to Heathrow airport. Also on the line to go to Wimbledon or Covent Garden. The price was expensive enough for the standard hotel but it was standard price in London, hotels are expensive in London. The receptionist was very helpful.
We had booked two rooms for 4 people. One in the basement, curiously marked as 5th floor though the lift only goes to 4 floors, was very large with one double and three single beds.It would have been fine except that the A/C was not working and it was unbearably hot. The other barely held two single (as requested) beds, was small and cramped. The staff were very pleaseant about our concerns and moved us to much better rooms. The only trouble was that when I went in I almost fell on an unexpected step down. There were one or two minor maintenance matters like the broken lid on the bathroom waste bin. This hotel seems to have been made from two adjoining houses. The ground floor of the second is an Indian restaurant which is also used as the breakfast room. Overall it's a good hotel with excellent , helpful staff, very close to Gloucester Road Tube station, with a couple of restaurants close by and a short walk to a good pub. Needs attention to safety and minor maintenance but would definitely stay again.
