Booked two single rooms last minute here after we realised we wouldn't be able to the train station after the concert in time for the last train. The hotel is located walking distance from the Royal Albert Hall and very close to Gloucester Road tube station. We arrived early afternoon and were pleased that the rooms were available for immediate use. A compact room is what I was expecting for a low cost single room booked last minute. However, I wasn't expecting the exceptional welcome plus the high level of facilities in the room. After returning from a few hours at the British Museum we ate a quick meal in the hotel's Indian Restaurant (Light of India) prior to the concert. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere and the tables filled after our arrival. The menu had a good selection of the usual Indian dishes and a few specials that looked interesting. We only had time for a quick bite, so plumped for a couple of mains. My friend had the vegetable biryani and I chose a chicken dhansak. The meals arrived promptly, were well presented and tasted great. The single room had good facilities including AC, which in August was a welcome bonus. Our room booking included continental breakfast which offered a wide selection of meats, breads, cereals, fruit, toast plus tea or coffee. Again the service was prompt and attentive.A great find of a hotel which I'll use again and again for a London break.Oh and the proms concert ...was just fabulous held in the fantastic venue of the Royal Albert Hall.
Very Helpful personnel, Very good location, a few steps from the tube, lots of nice restaurants nearby, clean modern rooms, choice of food at breakfast can be improved, as well as the quality of coffee.
Maybe the others staying here have lower standards than me, but we shocked and moved on after one night. Our travel agent could only get us a double for my husband and myself for 4 nights stay. That was OK. The rock hard bed wasn't OK. I woke up all night with hip pain and my husband woke up with a sore shoulder he had to live with till he got home. That was the good part. We were on the first floor. We arrived at 3PM after a long days journey. I took a shower full of mold. That didn't scare me as much as the gaping hole in the shower full of mold!If you like a one star rating go for it. I don't mind old but thread bare, worn out rooms is not my style. Go some where else!
happy to recomend this hotel, I would return in the future. It is well positioned and very clean. The staff are so helpfull and friendly. We changed rooms after one night as ny companion had difficulty with the over bath shower, the second room had just a shower, more to her needs, also at the frontof the hotel.
We stayed at the Montana Hotel for three nights at the beginning of August. We were a family of two adults, a grown son and pre teen daughter. We chose the Montana because they offered a family room that could accommodate all of us rather than paying for two rooms, which would have been the case at the majority of London hotels. The price was reasonable and the accommodation comfortable, but not fancy. The location was fantastic, just a few steps from the Gloucester Road Underground station in one direction and a fifteen minute walk to Hyde Park in the other direction. It is within walking distance of the Natural History Museum and The Royal Albert Hall. There are plenty of good restaurants just around the hotel. With the tube so close you can be at most the major tourist sights within 10-20 minutes.
