What a lovely hotel in a perfect location for the Royal Albert Hall as well as the Natural History, Science and V&A museums. Staff were welcoming and polite. Rooms were a good size, clean and comfortable. I would like to have seen Fire Escape instructions clearly defined in the rooms however, especially as we were on a lower floor and could only find a lift to use to get to road level. The Indian Restaurant attached to the hotel was lovely. The food was amazing. Quick links via tube from Waterloo station. The hotel is very close to the Gloucester tube station so no long walks dragging bags. I would highly recommend this hotel and restaurant. I will stay here again when I am in that quarter of London.
First things first! This is a hotel in Knightsbridge for about the same price as some of the B&Bs in the Kings Cross area. So if you're expecting a five-star experience, you may be disappointed. But that's not to say it's a bad place to stay. Quite the opposite! I was very impressed with the value.Yes, the rooms are small, the ensuite is just a toilet and basin and you do have to share the bathrooms. However, all that aside, this is a friendly, clean and comfortable hotel. Believe me, I've stayed in a lot more expensive places and they haven't been as clean nor as quiet or comfortable. The breakfast is the best value I've seen. Only £6.90 for a full English. Again, if you are used to farmer's hand-hewn sausages then you may feel you've had better. But my breakfast was super. The owners are clearly decorating across the hotel in stages, but you can forgive them that. Balancing the cost of rooms and the running costs in this part of London can't be easy, but sometimes a hotel with character, friendly staff and peaceful and clean rooms are all you need for an overnight stay.My stay was excellent. A late arrival thanks to a train delay (early morning arrival it ended up) meant I didn't sleep as long as I'd have liked, but the bed was good. The peace was what I needed and the friendly member of staff who took my call, the night porter and the breakfast team were all kind and friendly. As a regular business visitor, it's somewhere I'd stay again, especially as the free wi-fi was excellent. I may prefer a shower in the room but I can manage for one night. Overall, I'll be back and I'll definitely check out the attached Indian restaurant.
Just arrived back from a a brilliant weekend the hotel was clean the staff were amazing they even bought a birthday cake for my sons 10th birthday the room we had was great food in the restaurant was amazing will definitely stay here again great location gutted I did book for longer
The staff at the Montana Hotel is really nice, and helpful at the front desk. The location is less than a block from Gloucester station on the tube, so it's really convenient. There are many cafes, stores and pubs within a short walk. The room is really small. No nightstand on either side of the bed. The shower barely puts out any water. My husband and I agree that this is the worst shower we have encountered. The fire alarm went off for a few minutes the first night. The power in our end of the hall went out the second night, for about 30 minutes. We asked to get a light bulb changed in our reading light while we were out for the day, but it was still not working when we got back. We have 2 adults, and 4 suitcases, none larger than 25". The elevator is so small that we actually had to take two trips to our floor. The elevator holds no more than 3 adults who don't know each other well. The attached Indian restaurant has good food, but will add a 12% service charge that only shows up in the line items if asked. We had planned to leave a decent tip, because we liked the experience, but that was a bit sneaky, so we left it at that.
Very pleasant and helpful staff always with a smile and kind word. Rooms are rather dated but they are clean. Kettle and tea supplies in room are much appreciated. My bathroom was small and cramped, but really I spent most of my time elsewhere so it's not a big concern. Great buffet or full English breakfast at what must be one of the cheapest prices in London.100 metres (100 yards) from the Gloucester Road underground station and you can quickly get too you destination. But frequently I like to hop on a bus and travel above ground even though it takes a little longer. You just need a decent transit app to give you the various alternate routes. About 45 minutes by underground direct to/from Heathrow. Steps to the Victoria and Albert museum. 10 minute walk to the Builders Arms, a great pub with a selection of craft beers and a good menu - not the microwaved food that you get at many brewery owned pubs.
