I booked this hotel mistakenly for a night before than the actual date I desired to stay via laterooms. Arrived London on Wednesday and called the hotel around 6pm to see what time is the latest check in would be. They said my reservation was for the night before! I mentioned that the booking was made the night before around 23:45 so I would not possibly want to book a room at that time for the same day and it was a genuine mistake. I also mentioned that I was on heavy medication so this can cause a bit of distraction and asked if they could make a courtesy and allow me to pay the rate difference so I could stay. They said I had to call Laterooms. I called Lateroom's Customer support and explained what happen and they can check that no one stayed at the room the night before so this was a genuine mistake and happy to compromise by paying the rate difference. When Laterooms called back, they said the receptionist said they had rooms available and the rate was £14 more than the rate I booked for and they'd require me to pay the full room rate not only the difference as it was my mistake. Laterooms also mentioned that receptionist could not authorise for me to pay only the difference herself and I should wait until 2nd Jan as their manager was on annual leave until then. Which hotel based in a location like London would not have a manager just 2 days before New Years??? I ended up having no room with a friend from abroad in London but thanks to friends who offered us to stay at their house. Making a little effort could gain you a long term customers nothing else especially when you have free rooms which are unlikely to be sold after 7pm!!! Such a shame...
My girlfriend tried to stay here the other night, it was damp, dirty, with ripped headboards. The hotel felt unsafe with men hanging around outside and there was no dead lock on either Room. She was given an alternative Room that was no better so left and booked into the Chiswick Premier Inn, at only £62 with £10 for parking it beats the Oxford with its £26 NCP car park hands down, for a similar price, I would suggest you book here instead.We are still waiting for a call from the manager regarding a refund as they were unable to deal with it at reception!
Stayed a brief 1 night at The Oxford Hotel and I was extremely impressed with the hotel and services!The hotel is a 5-minute walk to Paddington Station and is located in a very safe neighborhood that us very quiet. Lots of local restaurants and shops as well.The room was ready for us at 10:00am and we were lucky enough to have been upgraded to a top level floor larger deluxe room, which was awesome. The room was very clean, beds were comfy and we had a nice warm shower too. They held our luggage all day on the departure day as well for no additional charge. This was a very minimal hotel and is great for travelling on a budget.

After reading some very dissapointing reviews i was left insecure about booking this Hotel. Having been there now, i couldn't be happier. (Room 21) i booked a double. The decor of the building is a little tired, but who books a hotel with the intention of staying there staring at 4 walls? Very close to Hyde park, reasonable priced. Fridge and microwave in the room. Shower worked, beds were comfortable, breakfast was standard but enjoyable. A very homely feel. Staff can speak and understand English, and can't be more helpful and polite.
