Our OpinionThis hotel is connected to the Imperial hotel through a lounge area. Their Night & Day Pub has excellent fish & chips. Just across from Russell Square Park. No hair dryers at this hotel.
This hotel was quite a disappointing experience, luckily London itself offers enough to compensate for it. The hotel seems and smells like it has not been renovated since 1980s. Rooms are rather small and poorly equipped, we felt cold drafts at night through the old single glazed windows. Bathroom has a sink with separate hot and cold taps and a shower where tuning the right temperature requires fiddling around with a chance of getting either burned or frozen. Just one small shampoo bottle even though we were two in the room. Only UK wall plugs. But I guess the worst was the breakfast: included in the price is a "continental breakfast", which translated to the language of this hotel means a pile of cold and dry pre-made toasts with a jam from a small plastic container, or a cereal. You must pay extra 5 GBP for an "English Breakfast" here. I doubt I will ever visit here again, unless there are no other options.
We stayed here for 2 nights and it was an excellent experience. The beds were lovely and comfy and the food was delicious. Our newly refurbished rooms looked great and modern. The cleaners were good and they made the bed look nice, except the fact that they took a newly opened bar of soap out of my room so that was a waste. There is a rather loud generator/heating/cleaning noise coming from the outside middle part of the back of the hotel. It is loud but when the windows and curtains are closed, it's not bad and you can certainly sleep through it. It is a constant noise so therefore you can adjust to it and it was fine.I had to re-tune the TV in my room because the switch by the bed marked 'TV' turns off the socket behind the TV which means after a long period of time being switched off, you'll need to re-tune it so you can get all the channels back.I thought we were being treated like VIP guests as the staff were extremely friendly and they were so nice.
Just spent the weekend here. The location is ideal for getting into the city, Russell Square station with Piccadilly line. The staff, from the Concierge to the cleaners were friendly, attentive and nothing too much trouble. The Ambience of the Atrium bar was excellent. The Saracen Carvery restaurant was better than some places we've visited. The prices were comparable with some of the local pubs.Although small, the rooms were clean and comfortable, but then they were only there for sleeping in after all. Will go again.
The recent refurbishment is welcomedAt circa £90 this is great value for London Friendly and efficient staff. Rooms basic but clean. Breakfast included is good value. Location is good for the business traveller and tourist alike.
This is the second time we have stayed at the President hotel when in London. It is good value. It is part of the Imperial group and shares the Atrium bar and café with the Imperial hotel. The food and drinks are very reasonable. Rooms are clean and compact and breakfast is adequate. I think this is a good budget hotel in an excellent location. Staff are pleasant and helpful.
