Our OpinionThis hotel is connected to the Imperial hotel through a lounge area. Their Night & Day Pub has excellent fish & chips. Just across from Russell Square Park. No hair dryers at this hotel.
Enjoyong breakfast whilst senior management visiting-they kindly took time to ask about our stay-staff are very attentive-breakfast a lovely choice-I requested fresh toast rather than the hotplate toast also my tea in a teapot rather than the jug that serves everyone-staff were more than happy tp help-Reception staff very polite and helpful.3minute walk from Russell Square tube station.Park opposite has a lovely cafe if you like an early morning stroll and a cuppa-lovely variety of cakes, pastries, sandwiches.
My husband and I are regular visitors to London and always stay here. Central location. The rooms are clean and comfortable (I believe they are all refurbished now). The bar as entertainment on weekends. Bar prices are reasonable. Food is ok and staff are friendly. Visit the Night and Day bar if you want a coffee and a snack. Very good and cheap. Where would you expect to get a latte for £2? We usually book a package with superbreak and get first might evening meal free.Keep up the good work President.
3rd time I have stayed here and it still ticks all the boxes. The hotel itself from the outside does look a little dated but its looks are deceptive. We checked in at 12 o clock and our room was ready. We dropped our bags off and went straight out. Room was as expected. It is small by other hotels but its clean, well kept and we just use it as a base to stay. We had a complementary evening meal which was a carvery. It was fine, i have had better but could not knock it. Breakfast was a help yourself affair. Again not the best but filling. The choice was fine for me as I like a full English but there are a range of cereal and fruit. One thing I will say is the staff are very attentive. They all moved to help a disabled lady next to us into her wheelchair and are cheerful (probably since the dreaded Mr Khan left)!!Loads to do are where it is, tube is close by, shops and the Brunswick is handy for Starbucks and a couple of restaurants. Friend in hand pub, give it a miss. Heard my accent and I think the prices went up!! Had my eyes out. So I could not knock it. One problem I came across was that the people who clean the rooms we very eager to get in. Twice we had people come in when we were there after knocking and waiting about 2 seconds. Forgot to complain about this. There are better hotels out there but obviously price comes into it.
My family and I used this Hotel as our base for 3 nights during a very busy activity packed break. Great base a few minutes walk from Russell Square tube station on the Piccadilly line, easy access to every attraction in Central London. It's basic but offers everything you would need when visiting London. Rooms are small but spotlessly clean and reasonably modern. Shower was powerful with plentiful hot water. Bed was clean and comfortable. The area of the hotel we stayed in overlooked the main road but there was no significant noise overnight that disturbed sleep. Breakfast is basic not a great deal of variety but does consist of a well cooked English breakfast, toast, fruit and plentiful tea and coffee. We considered this met our needs perfectly as we spent from morning till dusk out and about enjoying what London had to offer. I hadn't realised when I booked through Super Breaks that there was a complimentary 3 course meal voucher which we were given when we checked in. This offered the opportunity to dine in several Hotel Restaurants within the area, or a local pub or Indian restaurant. We chose the Carvery option available at the Hotel which was delicious and welcome after a very full day sightseeing. Alcohol appears to be competitively priced within the hotel and we enjoyed a couple of drinks in the large comfortable bar. The only negative here is that it lacked atmosphere and would have benefited from some music in the background. There was a piano in the bar but obviously no one to play it. However I wouldn't let it put me and my family visiting again due to its location and proximity to areas such as Theatreland, Covent Garden and Piccadilly Circus which can be reached in minutes on the tube and all within 30 minutes average walking pace. The Hotel appears to cater well for everyone whether able bodied or disabled. There is plenty of lift access and we never had to wait very long for a lift. As I said it was booked as part of a package deal that included 2 attraction visits as well. This just added to our enjoyment. I would along with my family highly recommend this Hotel as long as you are not expecting or needing anything that will provide basic requirements, which they do very well. Would definitely stay here in the future.
Required a hotel close to Great Ormond Street Hospital as my daughter had surgery and only one parent could stay with her overnight. Hotel was conveniently located, easy to get to by car (though within the congestion zone) and it's sister hotel (Imperial) has a basement for car parking which is £19 for 24 hours which was what I was after more than anything. Booked a single room which was up on the 6th floor which was adequate. Amenities included a double bed, small telly, bath with shower and toilet. Bedding was towels were clean, small selection of toiletries available - the tea/coffee were two small sachets. The room was very warm when I arrived (could feel the heat raising at each floor as you went up the stairs). Having the window open all night wasn't too much of an inconvenience as you're up so high from street level - there wasn't much noise. Buffet English breakfast was provided which was adequate, usual choice nothing to write home about but was welcome at the time. Staff were OK at checking and checkout again didn't do anything out of the ordinary and provided a basic service. All is all for the money it was adequate for a 1 night stay - the car parking and proximity to the hospital were key.
