Quality and experience; according to the Ritz

We booked one of the Executive King rooms and were not disappointed, as one would expect. Our favorite Ritz is the one in Paris, France and not going to the UK often, we were inquisitive to see how it compared. Well, it compares very favourably, in some cases even better. The Paris Ritz has been completely renovated and although the staff at Paris are extremely polite and efficient, Ritz London makes you feel like old family coming for a visit. Luncheon is superb, excellent choice of dishes, wines and of course, the Cheese Trolley !! Only the English can call a cheese Stinky Bishop and get away with it - all I will say, try it with some figs and port.. I am not even going to mention the breakfast or the great tradition of afternoon tea, the name Ritz says it all. There are a lot of walk-ins for the afternoon tea so book early. The tea includes your tiered stand with savory sandwiches and small cakes. This is followed by the cake trolley. If you leave hungry you weren't paying attention! I like the small touches : anybody handling your luggage for example, notices your name and will remember it and address you as such; every time. We are sure to go back there again and again. Well done Ritz !

Lovely experience

I went with my daughter to celebrate her 21st birthday. The actual environment was lovely and we had a nice time, the food was nice (not the best I've had) the waiter service was good but the down side was that it felt very rushed, kept asking if we were finished and ready for scones when we were clearly not finished. They were ready to tidy away after an hour and 15 minutes when it said we had an hour and 45 minutes. The piano playing was lovely and they played happy birthday for my daughter and gave her a cake, that did make up for it. I wouldn't go again as very expensive but glad we went.

Rude stuffy front of house

We booked Lunch at the Ritz yesterday through We all arrived smartly dressed unfortunately dad being seriously ill decided not to wear a tie and jacket as he wanted to be comfortable for the journey up to London. (Had we know it was tie and jacket dad would have worn it) We were greeted by a young lady at front of house who immediately told my dad he could not go in. Dad became a little flustered thereafter she explained she would take him to the cloakroom but he had to pay £40 as a deposit.. She gave him a jacket that was bigger than him explaining all the way to the cloakroom and in the cloakroom that he should not have turned up without tie and jacket and it would have stated this on his booking. (It didnot). He got back to the table where we where seating very upset as he felt he had embarrassed us all. He always dresses well as being in the military he knows how to present himself. Needless to say I complained to management who apologised. We have all been to many fine restaurants better than the Ritz who have never made us feel so second class and completely ruined our day.

Slightly disappointed

Sadly disappointed with a recent afternoon tea. Having visited The Ritz for afternoon tea in the past on 4 occasions we had something to compare it to. We felt it was not as efficient as previous visits. The quality of the food was amazing but there was no offer to refresh hot drinks as before. Also limited the offer of refreshing cakes. There were 4 of us and I asked for more macaroons and only 1 was served and when extra sandwiches were served it was only 1 servingOverall just did not seem to have that wow factor as before

Grandiose, elegant, traditional, classy.

This hotel doesn't need much presentation in terms of who and what. The how... well, it is comfortable but it's not a modern hotel. There's lots of noise from corridors and doors and just moving about in your room is a noisy affaire. The service is perfect as one would expect at such institution. The location is very convenient and great for shopping.
