Sheraton Park Lane
- What's Included
I am staying here on a long business trip of 6 weeks and I have to say that I have been only disappointed by the hotel so far. Service is below standard for a 5 star hotel on all levels; when you try to call them they either don't pick up the phone at all, don't bother to get back to you ( I went without dinner one night because in room dining never got in touch with me even though I had informed front office that I was trying to order food) or forget about you all together ( I found a note in the pocket of my very old looking bath robe clearly indicating that it hadn't been replaced before my arrival, upon pointing it out to the night manager she informed me they would promptly bring me a fresh one, no one ever showed up that night).I am not sure with what clientele they can still get away with pointing out that they are a 5 star hotel but all the details of this hotels feel cheap and 'standard' and anyone who has stayed in a true 5 star hotel will feel disappointed and short- changed. Can not recommend this place at all, there are so much nicer hotels around in that area that really know what it means to pay attention to details and service.
I stayed here 15 years ago for my first visit to London and loved it. I was excited to return post renovation for a week long business trip as I am in London at least once a year. This hotel has a fantastic location and really is in the middle of everything. I enjoyed club access as well and only used it for breakfast, which was satisfactory. The rooms and the public space look great. Now to the reasons why I gave it a three out of five. The staff is not that engaging or overly friendly. The restaurant, Smith & Whistle, was extremely slow which is a challenge for those of us in a hurry for work. My biggest complaint (again traveling on business and short on time) is the elevators. These elevators are the slowest that I have ever experienced and half the time only one worked. It was a huge hassle for our group and will be the reason I will not return. If you are on holiday, this is a good home base and the tube station is easily accessible.
I've stayed here many times, before the renovation, during the renovation and after. Last summer I visited London with my family and my experience and subsequent review reflected that stay. Later in the year, I returned on a business trip because GM Kieran Quinn wanted to make it right and show what has become of the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane and I should say he did not disappoint. The renovations seem to be complete and while I wanted to thank Kieran first hand on my way out, the Palm Court was being transformed into an opening party to celebrate the completion of the work. I solidly give the new Park Lane a 4.5* rating as a well placed, well designed upscale property. I only hold back 1/2* because unlike many grand hotels in the UK and Europe it does not offer butler services, a full spa etc... Stay here and you will not regret it as I previously have. The new and improved hotel is worth a try!
Very friendly and accommodating at all times. Close to major attractions, huge park, and tons of shopping. Very easy to get around from this location with Uber, taxi, or underground. Location is about 45 minutes from the airport and roughly 20 minutes from the Eurostar Train station.
This newly renovated hotel is my current favorite in London. Close to the main shopping and tourist zones, a few fantastic restaurants within walking distance and beautifully appointed rooms with interior decor that appeals. Fantastic Sainsbury supermarket along Stratton where I can pick up some of my health foods.
