Grand by name and grand by nature

I have now stayed at the hotel both pre and post redecoration and was reluctant at first in coming back to the hotel given previous experience. BUT...very glad that I did. What a change!The whole place has been updated but still maintaining that art deco feel. Communal areas and rooms are very nicely decorated and luxurious.The bar area is quite simply stunning and I hear they do one of the best afternoon teas in London.I had room service which was good but there are two other restaurants to choose from at the hotel both looked very inviting.They have a well equipped gym and SPA .The room I had was a standard room and was very comfortable with all amenities you needed.the service has certainly upped its game too..very attentive staff throughout my stayLocation wise its overlooking Green park, very close to Buckingham palace, west end theatres, shopping and eating in Mayfair!Will I come back- absolutely, a lovely hotel!

Freezing bathroom with silly taps

I stayed for a couple of nights over this past weekend. The hotel is in a fabulous location and looks beautiful insie the foyer. It has recently been renovated...... BUTOur bathroom was so cold. The floor is a very dark stone and the walls are white 'clinical' tiles. The bathroom was so so very cold. We called the housekeepers to ask if we could have the heating turned up and was told that there is actually no heating in any of the bathrooms! This bathroom (room 320) has a long outside wall and windows so more likely to be cold. The engineer came to see, and told us that so many people have complained about this problem but there was nothing that could be done.Also, the taps for the bath and the two types of showers were impossible to know which were which and we got soaked when turned the wrong tap. This is a problem with too much 'style'and no 'substance'. This is poor considering it has RECENTLY been revamped. A big disappointment. Also, had to phone housekeeping 3 times to try and get some more tiny plastic pots of milk.....

Top notch experience

Finished with renovations, this new Sheraton Grand is absolutely amazing. From the staff at check-in, to the newly done lobby and rooms, everything is cared for perfectly. The high tea is something you should not miss, and Maria the hostess, goes above and beyond to make your experience extra special. It's something you should not miss. This luxury hotel will definitely be my go-to from now on

Terrible Booking Experience

I've had the worst booking experience with this hotel and will never stay or recommend this establishment. I'm a Gold SPG member, and i've never had a bad experience with any SPG hotel world wide from booking to departure until now.Long story short is, I booked the hotel through SPG, they guaranteed me the lowest rate through their Best Rate Guaranteed Program. I was booking one room for two nights and one room for one night (same dates).The SPG agent was adjusting my rate against the BRG program and had no issue with the room I had booked for the two nights. She had to call the hotel directly to reduce the rate for the second room. She spoke to Filomena (sp?) at the hotel - who stated that if I wanted to stay at the hotel I must pay the higher rate (even though my other room was at the lower rate - and the same room type). The SPG agent explained that the alternative would be that I cancel my entire reservation.The hotel would rather me cancel my entire reservation than to price match me on my second room for the same rate I had for the first room. (the difference was 20 GBP). Why would I pay two different prices for the same room on the same night - which I booked at the same time? And they would rather lose my business altogether and disregard any SPG loyalty.....I sent feedback to the GM through TA a few days ago and have not heard back. An apology would have gone a long way but to not even receive that. I would be highly reluctant to stay at a hotel that treats potential guests this way. Especially when there are Many MANY other choices in London.

Very Average

Although SPG rates hotel with a 6 star rating it is overall a very average Sheraton hotel. We had a classic room booked with SPG points. The beds were only mattresses on frames. We opted for the "green" declining the need to have daily fresh linens and towels but in this hotel beware this also includes not emptying waste baskets or any other housekeeping attention. We stayed over a very busy New Year's time and I suppose some guest has to be in the room next to the guest with the crying baby. Suspect SPG booking worked against us for this booking. Although the hotel location is accessible for tourist activities overall it has no room views or interesting decor. The 2 times we ate in the lounge were mediocre, both the food and the service. Desk staff was pleasant.
