Sofitel London St. James
- What's Included
I recently stayed at the Sofitel St James in London. It's an excellent, luxury hotel right in the heart of all the action in London. It's walking distance to Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, the theatre district, museums and more. Check-in and check-out was fast and efficient with friendly customer service. It was also nice to be greeted every time I entered or left the hotel by the doorman, and most staff also speak French (it is a Sofitel). My hotel room was beautiful, very clean and quiet. I definitely recommend this hotel and will be staying here again.
We were traveling back to Canada after 2 weeks in Spain and decided to turn a layover into a five day mini-trip of its own. The Sofitel ticked all the boxes. Close to all major attractions, we walked everywhere... The Eye, National Gallery, Prince of Wakes Theatre, Buckingham Palace, Tate Modern, St Paul's... The list goes on. I would hate to waste time in a cab or dreaded hop-on hop-off so being centrally located was key. Check-in was quick and our room was ready early. Concierge was so helpful. The Rose lounge served incredible gin & tonics. Our dinner at Le Balcon was great. Our room was renovated and we really appreciated the gorgeous Hermes toiletries. We have recommended the Sofitel to everyone we know heading to London. Looking forward to another stay one day!
We have stayed for three nights. This was a quiet period so rates were fairly low. We have initially been given a room which was noisy, there was a humming noise from ventilation coming from outside. We were then shown another room which had a restricted view to the St James park. The room was nice but there was a strange smell in the room which appeared after cleaning of the room. You could open the window to get rid of the smell. On last night they did cleaning without detergents and there was no smell in the room. There was a bit of nuisance with the best price guarantee. I have booked the hotel on the Accor site, subsequently I saw another offer 5pct cheaper on Booking.com, had multiple email exchange with Accor who refused to match the offer as there were slight difference in the terms of the rat, e.g. late checkout. I could not care less for late checkout as I had an early morning flight on the day of my departure but it was used as a reason to refuse best price guarantee. I feel shortchanged and next time I would search Internet before booking on Accor site. The breakfast is fairly cheep for London (25 pounds per person plus service charge) and is not the best quality. We had cocktails in the bar which we did not like. Having said all this, the location is great, the rooms are fairly nice. So if there is a good rate I will stay again. The concierge is very helpful.
Went to afternoon tea with family and friends. Insufficient seating so was sat on tables and chairs due to the size of the party. Sandwiches limited although the waitress did provide more sandwiches on requests. Some confusion on sharing the sandwiches and cakes. Cakes good standard. Would I go again - not sure. Prefer the Grosvenor at Park Lane.
I was planning a trip for me and my son to London. I picked this place due to its location. All the sites we wanted to see where in walking distance and if it wasn't close the underground was conveniently located. As far as our stay, it was the most pleasant and top-notch service that I have received. Their customer service was above and beyond anything I've experienced. From the friendly staff at the front desk to the little treats they gave us in the morning and the turndown service you received at night with the complimentary chamomile tea. Also during our stay they found out that my birthday had previously happened before our trip. On the second night I walked into our room to find a beautiful desert and a handwritten card from them wishing me a happy belated birthday. It's touches like that, that truly set them apart from other hotels.
