St Giles Hotel
- What's Included
Our OpinionSt. Giles has a great location just off Oxford St with lots of shopping, restaurants, and pubs nearby. Only a 2 minute walk to Tottenham Court tube station. However rooms are quite small with shower only.
Location: West End, Covent Garden, British Museum
Stayed for 2 nights, first breakfast tasted fine, the following breakfast not so good and ever since been left sick from work. Room tiny with small window and no air con and WiFi hopeless. Very disappointed for what is supposed to be a 3 star hotel.
We stayed at this hotel from 18-20th October. Our initial impression on arriving into the lobby was very good, it looked very modern and the reception staff friendly. We had booked 2 rooms but were told we would be on separate floors, on our request they managed to get us 2 rooms within doors of each other. When we got out of the lift and turned down the corridor towards our rooms that’s where disappointment set in. The carpet was disgusting with stains all over, the windows were extremely old and thick with dirt, our rooms were even worse. The doors and parts of the room walls were made of ply wood, the carpets stained and the whole room extremely grubby. The smell was of men’s old aftershave and drains - absolutely stomach upsetting. The bathrooms weren’t any better. The toilet wouldn’t flush in one room. When discussed with the reception they said they would arrange for it to be repaired - it wasn’t. Breakfast was plentiful but we were reluctant to eat due to the smell of the rooms so we ate out instead. On returning to the hotel the smell of drains outside was strong. It’s close to Oxford Street and Covent Garden is a short stroll but that’s the only positive. I would not recommend this hotel and never stay here again.
Stayed here for 3 days this week. I paid £86 a night, which for a London hotel is pretty good. The room was a bit compact but was clean, functional and in good repair. There are several levels of restaurant on the premises and I did use the "24 Hr" eatery in the basement that was very good and not over-expensive. My only concern is that in common with a lot of British hotels there was no air-conditioning so I would not even consider staying here between May and August.
The Hotel was comfy enough, pleasant helpful staff. Cleaners appear to miss a few bits n bobs in corridors i.e. ledges and picture tops but on the plus side all good enough for the deal we had. Plenty choice at breakfast, hot buffet and colds choice as well.
Been staying numerous times at StGiles and we choose it out of one single reason, the excellent location. Its in the middle of Everything, Close to nightlife in Soho, shopping at Oxford Street, British Museum and so much more. The hotel itself is very worn and needs renovation. Decoration, furniture and all other things are very dated. If you want a stylish hotel, St Giles wont be your thing. One choose this place due to one thing and thats the unbeatable location- Nothing else!
