St Giles Hotel
- What's Included
Our OpinionSt. Giles has a great location just off Oxford St with lots of shopping, restaurants, and pubs nearby. Only a 2 minute walk to Tottenham Court tube station. However rooms are quite small with shower only.
Location: West End, Covent Garden, British Museum
We have stayed here twice and found everything as we expected. My only complaint is that each time we've stayed cleaners were making a lot of noise outside the room and knocked at 8.30 a.m. When I complained to the housekeepers we were told we should have put the 'do no disturb' sign on the door. We have stayed at lots of hotels all over the world and this has never been necessary. We usually have a late night in London as I'm sure do many others, and think that reception should advise guests of this.
The location is the only reason I’d use the hotel. I’ve stayed here a number of times now but found this time that the customer service was non existent. Firstly we were in London for my birthday, my husband and I rarely get time away together so we were looking forward to this break a lot. The room was tiny and claustrophobic which is common for London but the double bed was not suitable for two average sized adults to share and each time we turned over we almost fell out of bed. Room was clean the shower really powerful and breakfast was quite nice. The room was noisy when people passed by the door slammed against the wall and then added to by very noisy guests across the way. We were on the 5th floor, we had to go to reception twice because our key card would not open the door. This morning on check out I was asked how the stay was the reception staff seemed disinterested with what we had to say. Very disappointed .
It isn’t easy to find a good place at a fair price in such a flourishing city as London, but after having visited this marvellous hotel twice I truly believe I have found my favourite. First of all, the location is exquisite; just around the corner of the British Museum and only 15 minutes walking from Covent Garden, you’re basically at the centre. What’s more, you’ll find a Waterstones, Boots and some genuinely nice coffee shops near the hotel itself. The staff have always been friendly and helpful, trying to make sure that every customer feels at ease and has the correct accommodation. For a few pounds extra you can enjoy breakfast at the hotel, should you feel like it. They also have a restaurant and a cosy bar with delicious cocktails in summer. The rooms aren’t luxurious but then again they don’t need to be for the price you pay in that area. What matters is that they are clean, roomy enough for a night or 3 and fully equipped with the things a city tripper needs. Whenever friends or family are looking for a hotel in London, I advise them to try this one. Haven’t once heard anything bad afterwards, and am definitely going back soon!
Single room is very small but has all you would expect or need. The hotel is so centrally placed you can forgive the room size. Walking distance of the underground and numerous bus routes.Breakfast supplied was a choice of hot and cold buffet items and was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful during check in and when leaving. Bags can be stored after check out.
We stayed at the St Giles Hotel, Bedford Street, London for 1 night on the 9th January. I had read some reviews that were not very good and was rather apprehensive. However, from the moment we entered the doors, my fears vanished. The booking in staff were so friendly, helpful and informative. Our room had a kingsized bed with a side table on each side. Plenty of shelf space and hanging space for our clothes and the bathroom was all black marble, with a large shower. Everywhere was spotless and the hot buffet breakfast was lovely. Even my hard to please husband was impressed with it. I am ashamed to say that we stuffed ourselves as the food was so good.
