St Giles Hotel
- What's Included
Our OpinionSt. Giles has a great location just off Oxford St with lots of shopping, restaurants, and pubs nearby. Only a 2 minute walk to Tottenham Court tube station. However rooms are quite small with shower only.
Location: West End, Covent Garden, British Museum
Stayed for one night whilst sight seeing in London, didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel but it was ideal for a bed for the night and a great price. Staff were very welcoming & helpful. Room was ok could do with an upgrade and bathroom was very small. Great location, 2 min walk to the tube station and Leicester Square within walking distance so ideal for a theatre stay. Also only a few tube stops from Euston/Kings cross if travelling by train. Bar in the hotel was nice with good selection, we didn't have breakfast and found it difficult to get a tea/coffee in the morning. They have a left luggage room which really helped! Overall staff and location make this hotel and I would go back.
Stayed the weekend, room was clean and tidy comfy bed bathroom small but fine, staff very friendly and helpful and the bar nice place to have a drink this is my second visit will defo stay again location is excellent.
This hotel is cheap for it's location. For a lads night out it was ok. Nice friendly check in. Practical no frills stay.Everything was minimal, very small room but this is what you would expect at the price.Under refurbishment. Not a problem but not great.Good value for money.
its was our 25th wedding anniversary and requested a room with a view, of which was probably the only positive to the stay. queues for lifts, overcrowded, tiny double bed stuffy room inadequate fan , bathroom tiny, towels so hard and starchy such a disappointment, drinks prices excessive.
We stayed for several days at the St. Giles Hotel. The price for our standard triple room was very competitive and the location is excellent. And there’s a great YMCA fitness center in the basement that gives a discount to hotel guests. Those are huge plusses.Aside from that, though, this hotel gets so much wrong. Our room was clean but stiflingly small and in poor condition (windows didn’t stay open, some blinds were broken, even the unbroken parts were not able to block the sunlight, the cold faucet was difficult to turn and stayed dripping, the sink stopper control did not work and you had to put your hand in a sink full of water to drain it, the toilet seat didn’t stay in place and always got wet from the shower). The “double” bed was really one-and-a-half-person size and way too small for two average-size adults. Likewise, the bathroom was excessively small and always flooded because the shower curtain was too short. The towels constantly fell on the wet floor because there was not enough room to place them. The hotel offers free WiFi, but it is frustratingly slow to the point of almost being unusable. This is a huge hotel with many guests. There is always a line for the elevator, which often went into overload mode even when the number of people was below the stated capacity. Reception was crowded and hectic. The breakfast was not very tasty or fresh, and the buffet lines were long. The reservation system is inefficient with two parallel systems -- the online system and the live-operator phone system -- that do not link to each other. The changes we made over the phone after the original online booking (new dates, additional room, cancellation of another room) were not recognized at the front desk and it took a lot of time and discussion to get the manager and the reservation desk involved. Despite promises from the hotel to reverse an incorrect credit card charge, it now looks like we will have to file a dispute with the credit card company in order to correct the problem. All this could have been prevented with a better reservation system. Just for the price and location, we would still consider staying here again next time in London. However, we would go with managed expectations.
