St Giles Hotel
- What's Included
Our OpinionSt. Giles has a great location just off Oxford St with lots of shopping, restaurants, and pubs nearby. Only a 2 minute walk to Tottenham Court tube station. However rooms are quite small with shower only.
Location: West End, Covent Garden, British Museum
Stayed in this hotel on two occasions. Rooms are lovely and breakfast has something for everyone. Staff were all lovely and helpful with directions around London. Will definitely be back and would recommend to family and friends.
We stayed in the hotel for a short theatre break with my daughter. It is ideally located for the Westend, however the rooms are extremely small and very tired as are the corridors. My daughter's single room was so small that the sink was inside the shower cubicle. Not good for anyone with claustrophobia!! The reception areas are very good and the staff are helpful and friendly. We had the pre-theatre meal one night which was very disappointing! The food was not good - my daughter's garlic pizza starter was like cardboard and the minestrone soup was anything but minestrone.
If you want to be right in the heart of the city, this is the place to be. Short walks from Oxford Street, Leicester Square, and Covent Garden, whilst two minutes away from the tube station. Rooms are a little small, but you're not in them long if you're there for a short stay. Staff are lovely and polite and you can leave your luggage before checking in and after checking out. Overall, a great trip.
We recently stayed at this hotel for one night and would return. It's basic but clean and good value for money. The rooms are compact and a bit dated. Could do with modernising but then the price to stay would probably increase. Beds were comfortable but the bathroom was very small. The shower cubicle was also really small, but fine for what we needed. We didn't need luxury as we didn't spend much time in the room. The evening meal in the restaurant at the hotel was really lovely. The breakfast was okay! Fairly basic but okay. I'd probably not eat the breakfast again as so many lovely places to eat surrounding the hotel. The swimming pool is the ymca and is chargeable. The casino was great fun and the staff were so friendly. Will be back!
We booked two single rooms for last Saturday night. I've stayed here a few times before and although small, I found the rooms adequate for an overnight stay. Not this time though. My room was on the 12th floor (absolutely fine). Theer was a single bed, a bedside table with a telephone, a unit with 4 generous sized drawers, and a flat screen TV. There was tea and coffee making facilities, a fan (as the rooms get very warm), and a hairdryer in the dressing table drawer. The hanging space is restricted by the presence of the in-room safe, but it's ok. All very acceptable. But the bathroom was the smallest one I have ever seen. A sliding door revealed a toilet on the right, with a fairly high shelf which held the towels and a spare toilet roll. If you are under 5' 4" you'll struggle to reach the towels and when you do, you'll find that the 'ath' towel is a slightly large hand towel. There is a mirror over the toilet (yes, I know!) and then you step straight into a single size shower cubicle making sure you negotiate the bi-folding door and trying to avoid the sink. Yes that's right, the sink is in the shower! There is a liquid soap dispenser on the wall and a shower that is in great need of a pressure boost as the water trickles out of the showere head. After another bout of naked Twister, you are glad to be out of the bathroom and drying yourself in the main bedroom where there's a bit more space. I then had to go back in for a wet shave, Not the easiest thing to do when the mirror is nowhere near the sink! The whole bathroom could not have been more than 3' x 5', and seriously, if you are on the big side, you are going to struggle in that shower. The reception staff were very pleasant and the hotel is in a central position, but I don't think I'll be going back any time soon,
