St Giles Hotel
- What's Included
Our OpinionSt. Giles has a great location just off Oxford St with lots of shopping, restaurants, and pubs nearby. Only a 2 minute walk to Tottenham Court tube station. However rooms are quite small with shower only.
Location: West End, Covent Garden, British Museum
We should see the reason at under renovation is not everything perfect. But the mouse in the neighbor-room and the fire alarm twice during our stay (one was at 4am.) were didn't excpected. The location and the staff is perfect!! :)
Never have I experienced anything quite as bad as this place. When reviewing a hotel experience I try to make it balanced and find at least one good point or one bad point to include. I failed to find anything good to say about this hotel, the rooms or the quality of food (breakfast). Location is good but not at the price of staying in a building site, with very poor quality food and rooms that are so small you have to sit on the bed to pass each other. Their website says "some renovations to reception " I would say that the extent of the work demands closure until finished. The only access to breakfast is up some temporary steps put together from scaffolding planks. Access from temporary reception to the lifts is the same. Disabled? Then forget it. In fact forget it until this place gets its act together. Don't bother trying to complain to management- the queue is very long each morning and they really aren't interested. I suspect they are bored with the repetition of the complaints. I tried to take a photo of the building work but staff weren't too keen on me doing that!
Yes we were told that some building work was taking olace in the reception, but the area was a building site. In a few weeks it should be resolved. Staff were well trained and this element the hotel has got right. Room was small but clean so overall it was a "value offer " for a central london hotel at about £100 for a night. The breakfast was just about edible but not the best of British food. Room was quiet which is unusal for london.
My husband booked this hotel as a part of a theatre trip for my birthday. We didn't know the hotel lobby was being renovated and looked like a building site. We had a less than welcoming greeting from the reception staff who seemed too busy to be bothered with us. Our room was incredibly small, the bed was uncomfortable and the room felt stifling and claustrophobic. We had 2 teabags in our room, and 2 tiny milk sachets. There is pay as you go WiFi, which is a bit outdated now, even most shops and cafe's have free WiFi. The hotel wasn't cheap and was for a real treat for my birthday, but it didn't feel luxurious in any way at all. It was a shame.
More of a hostle than a Hotel. No mention of building works on ground floor. Small and tired room. Shower did not work. Pay extra for wifi and pool (belongs to YMCA not hotel) staff tried best. Too busy.
