Central hotel for our London stay

We chose this hotel as we wanted to be within walking distance of most central London attractions, and also to be very easy to get to on the tube.Check in was very quick and very friendly and only took a few minutes. We stayed in an Executive King room on the 5th floor, at the front of the hotel, which over looked the Strand. The room was a fair size and plenty of space for our clothes, the wifi was very good and free. The Ipod docking station, did play our ipod via the speaker jack, but didn't charge it.The bed was comfy and the shower worked very well. There was noise from The Strand, but with the windows closed and the wooden shutters closed, it was fine.Breakfast was a buffet, which was great as we could chose what and how much we wanted. There were cold meats, cheese, fruit, breads, and a full chose of hot food, ie. Sausages, bacon, eggs etc etc.All the staff were very polite and friendly.Check out took seconds as you just put your room card in a box.Would recommend this for a comfy, relaxing hotel, in the middle of everything good in London.

One Stay In Winter And One To Come In Summer

Stayed here in winter just before Christmas. Will stay again for a week in July. A great location so close to all the theatres, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden and the Underground. My room was quite small as was the 'double bed' but pleasant, clean and very comfortable. The English breakfast is awesome and I swear I put on weight during the week I stayed here. Hence the need for the gym.... It's small but adequate. The doorman are cheekily friendly too. The Savoy is just over the road but unfortunately my company refused my request to stay there!! Love this place and would highly recommend it.

overpriced

We stayed here in june for one night in an executive room. The room itself was good, but very hot. Couldn't fault location. The bar however is extremely over priced. we ordered a round of drinks which had the service charge added, but what got me is i was waiting for the change and the bar lady had put it in the tips pot. When i asked for my change she seemed very disgruntled. When you're charging the prices for drinks as well as a service charge and then expect a tip, you have another think coming!I wouldn't stay here again as i didn't think customer service was up to scratch and the bar prices ridiculously high.

Faded grandeur but great location

Terrific location - walking distance to West End, Embankment, National Gallery, and lots of tube stops nearby. Hotel itself is a bit shabby - the foyer looks like a cross between a Leagues Club and a big Chinese restaurant, with dodgy chandeliers and fish tanks - but the service was extremely friendly. My room was a single room with bath, so no air-con or fridge.

Close to Covent Garden

Second visit at The Strand Palace Hotel, very comfortable, delicious food, large modern shower. Good location close to Covent Garden and not far from West End theatres. Rooms not very large but well appointed. A complimentary bottle of Prossecco for my special birthday was waiting for us in our room!
