Our OpinionThe single rooms here are a good size with modern decor. No A/C in rooms but they do offer connecting rooms and family rooms for up to 3 people.
Location: Trafalgar Square, Soho, Covent Garden
It is a year since my wife and I last stayed at the Strand Palace Hotel and I was keen to see if their excellent standards had been maintained. I am pleased to report that they had! We had a beautiful clean king room on the front of the building, but no traffic noise from the Strand. I just love the shutters they have installed in place of curtains - so much more effective, giving you a totally dark room to sleep in. We thought the breakfast somewhat indifferent on our first morning but with the hotel full on the final days of the school holidays we maybe hit a bad time that morning; it was so much better on the second morning. We found all the staff we encountered during our stay extremely polite and helpful. this applied to the reception, concierge, breakfast room, bar and chambermaid. To find such a good cross section of staff in any hotel is unusual, particularly in a London hotel. Management here is obviously very hot on customer service training. We look forward to another return visit next time we hit London.
Perfect location, right in the heart of London. Lovely hotel. The room was just right, with great facilities. The bar was lovely, just a little pricey. I would definitely stay here again if I came to London.
Good hotel, small rooms and hot.slept with the window open for most of the night even though we switched the radiator off!Showers are great loads of power.Fantastic location for the theatres and Covent Garden.
Be careful which room you get given. The shower was so small it is dangerous. The water bounces off your head which is touching the ceiling and comes out the light fitting. The bed is a shocker too many lumps and bumps. Mattress had seen better days.Besides that the hotel has a fantastic location. Too many negatives though on room comfort so not value for money.
Me and my partner came here for a one night stay as we were attending a function in a nearby venue. upon check in we were given a complimentary upgrade to an executive room (#878) which was a lovely gesture that was very much appreciated. when we got to our room we were surprised at how tiny and cramped it was. It was a good thing that we were light travelers as there was nowhere near enough space for luggage. The room had all the basic necessities but that was it. We had a bottle of bubbles with us that we wanted to chill so we ordered an icebucket with champagne flutes to the room, but they forgot the champagne flutes. When we wanted to take a shower we realised that there were only enough towels for one person so we had to call for extras. Something that kept us up for most of the night was the loud noise that was created by the air conditioning unit above our bed (which wasn't turned on) and also the sound of water running through the pipes above our room it seemed. when we called to complain about it they send up an engineer, but he couldn't do anything about it unless there was a leak. When we did finally manage to fall asleep in the early hours of the morning, we were woken up by the housekeepers talking loudly for quite some time while they were cleaning. we arrived home dead tired and extremely sleepy,I was very much looking forward to staying here as i walk by the hotel everyday when i go to work, but i will not be returning nor would i recommend this hotel to anybody. if the need for a hotel in london ever arises again i would rather go to a travel lodge. Also, the lobby seems very modern and grand, but as soon as you go up to the rooms you will see that the hotel is in desperate need of a refurbishment as it is like stepping back in time to the 80's
