Good deals to be had!

The location of the Strand Palace hotel is great, just a short walk from Covent Garden, and Charing Cross. The hotel is pretty big so don't expect a cosy atmosphere, the bars vary enormously, the lounge bar is a bit 1970's! But there is great atmosphere to be had in, for instance, the Gin Palace.Book direct with the hotel for on-line bonuses, I received a £15 voucher and a bottle of prosecco, :-) the room rate was the same as the well known booking sites. The rooms are not big but adequate, no mini bar or fridge though, and room service has a hefty price compared to bar prices. The hotel seems to be popular with Scandinavians, not a bad thing. Our stay was very enjoyable with excellent service and wonderfully polite and competent staff.

Great Location

Have been to functions way back in the past when the hotel was a 4 star establishment. It is now solidly aimed at the tourist market and in our view it has been done very well. We opted for room only and used the hotels price match to ensure the best deal. We did also get the advantage by booking direct of a £15 food and drink voucher and a bottle of prosecco. With breakfast at £12 when paid for at check in we opted to decline as we could easily grab a coffee etc in many places close by.We felt that the bar and restaurant prices where on the high side compared with the target market of the hotel although we did eat in the indian restaurant which was good and the discount voucher helped. We were upgraded to a king room and whist we were by the lifts our window was in the atrium and this avoided any street noise. The room was a good size (having seen reviews and photos some of the rooms seem very small) with flat screen TV and large shower room. The bed was very comfortable with a large duvet and we enjoyed good nights sleep.

Location and Service.

We have stayed at the Strand Palace Hotel on a number of occasions, due to its excellent location and comfortable bar/lounge areas. We visited London recently for a birthday celebration, and decided to have afternoon tea and a bottle of bubbly in the Strand Palace before going to the theatre. We had a lovely afternoon, the food and service was excellent. Agnieszka, who has worked at the Strand Palace for many years is a credit to the hotel, as she is always friendly and polite while providing a first class service. Thank you Agnieszka. So if you are looking for a hotel in a great location, which is reasonably priced, with excellent service from the bar/lounge staff, we would highly recommend the Strand Palace.

Location redeems most of the flaws

Stayed here 2 nights ago. I was taking part in a cooking class at School of Wok, Covent Garden. The location of this hotel is brilliant! Only 15 minutes walk from Waterloo and around the corner from Covent Garden. The common areas (e.g reception) are very well presented and the check in staff were friendly. You are made to feel like it is quite an upmarket hotel with the concierge desk and the doorman! My room was a single. It was clean and functional. The bed was comfy and the bath towels were nice and big. I had an 'internal view' of some scaffolding works outside my window.I did find the room a bit stuffy and the window didn't open (or I wasn't able to open it, it looked quite old).Breakfast the next morning was in Dawaat (usually the Indian Restaurant). The hot stuff was pretty hot (buffets are never completely hot). There was a lot of choice, and in my opinion, most people would struggle not to find something they want to eat.Due to the location I would return to this hotel but maybe try to request a room with an operational window!

Good location,paper thin walls

Have stayed here twice. First time was good no worries at all. Second time had a room with paper thin walls. I could hear everyone around me. I'll not be staying there again unless the soundproofing improves.
