Yesterday ten of us visited this hotel for lunch in the Carvery. Just to add to the excitement the fire alarms went off on our arrival, with the fire engine turning up to check out the situation. We only had to wait for about fifteen minutes, but we have always been very happy with the food and service so we waited at the front of the hotel. When The alll clear was given, one of the staff showed us round the side, which is the quickest way into the Carvery. Our table was ready on arrival and everything was perfect as it always is. Cristian was our waiter and as usual, we were well looked after. The food and service are always worth making the effort to get to this venue for. The food is always very fresh and well presented. The service is always kind, professional and attentive but not over the top. All my guests enjoyed the experience and I will be back as soon as I am in London again. Thank you for your most excellent service, it is very much appreciated.
I visited London and stayed at this hotel with my son in April though I had read some bad reviews and I was dubious about booking it ! I thought the hotel was really nice and clean and the staff were friendly enough ! I did make the mistake of reserving breakfast at €13 per person at check-in for two mornings! It was very nice (buffet style) but on leaving the hotel we noticed the cafe next door did a full English for only €6 ! .... otherwise a really good hotel. London is very expensive anyway.
In general this hotel has an outdated and run down feel. It is in desperate need of renovation both in the main foyer, hallways and rooms themselves. The room I stayed in was quite small (smaller than expected), the drain for the shower (which is in the bath tub) was blocked and took a long time to empty meaning taking a shower actually filled the bathtub. Wake up call booked for 4.15 am didn't arrive until nearly 4.30 am. On the positive side, the beds were quite comfortable, house keeping did a good job and it is in a good location. In April 2017 there was construction work ongoing which seemed to start making noise quite early in the morning.
Excellent location and perfect room for solo traveler, I felt had all the comforts I needed at a very reasonable price. The hotel is on busy Strand area so it's noisy, but with the wooden shutters closed at night I had no trouble sleeping. I loved being able to walk to so many spots, also loved the Victoria Embankment Gardens very close by that offered a quiet, beautiful place. Housekeeping kept my room immaculate. Very easy check in and check out process. There were only 2 outlets available so if one needs to charge multiple devices that could be an issue.
This hotel is lovely the staff was friendly and helpful. It was very clean had a bath and a shower over the bath. It is a huge hotel as you go in before you get to reception on the right is an opening leading to toilets and the shops and restaurant (indian) and s lovely cafe this is where we had our breakfast. £5 for english or £7 for a double english . so was well worth it. The bed was very comfy not much of a view but wasn't bothered about that really the room was on the 2nd floor 258 number decent size as only there for two nights, So it was quite on the 2nd floor slept well cannot call the hotel.
