However tired the rooms might be the location cannot be faulted. We had a King room for 2 nights. All the facilities were there but still a comparatively small room. Bed was very comfy though.Housekeeping was disappointing as we had to call 3 times to sort out things that hadn't been done. The hotel is big and the airport style foyer does little to make it any cosier. The bar was ok although a bit bland. Everyone in the hotel appears to be entitled to breakfast. The selection was huge but felt like eating in a shopping mall on a Saturday morning. I felt it was expensive for the facilities on offer but I guess I was paying mainly for its prime location. I'd probably grin and bear it and stay there again if I wanted a well located London hotel.
Have stayed here many times as nice atmosphere and very convenient locationOn this visit we had to queue 20 minutes to check-in and when we went into our allocated double room it was very very small with a 3/4 sized bed pushed against the wall and hardly any room to get past the bed to the bathroomIn fairness after I went back to reception given a lovely room Breakfast busy but even so was goodGood value stay
We booked through Secret Escapes and got a great deal. We were given a lovely quiet, spacious room to the rear of the hotel. There was an enormous queue for checking in (every time we subsequently passed through reception, the queue was always enormous. It seems to be the norm here). However, when we got to the front of the queue we were immediately given our room key, even though we were over an hour before the official check-in time, so that was great. Another huge queue for the lifts. They really should have more lifts. This was a pain throughout our stay, and when waiting to descend from the 4th floor we sometimes had to wait around 15 minutes for a lift. Nevertheless, this did not detract from our enjoyment. After a very indifferent meal in a local restaurant, we decided to eat in the hotel the following night. By booking in advance at reception, you get 20% off the bill in the bistro. We had steaks, which were perfectly cooked, and the desserts were also excellent. We went back the following night, where we had delicious chicken, and fish and chips. I can highly recommend the bistro, and the staff were quick and unobtrusive.Breakfast at first sight looks offputting, with the enormous queue, but they have got the system worked out perfectly, and we never had to wait long. The queue moves very fast. Tea and coffee arrive at the table as you do, no waiting to order it, and the buffet was the best I'd ever seen. They never seemed to run out of anything, and the sausages and bacon were lovely. The bread was lovely and fresh. In addition there is a guy making omelettes to order, and also a 'toast bar' where you can quickly be passed a rack of toast (no having to make it yourself in a machine). I thought the breakfast was very well organised given the amount of people all wanting it at once! Full marks to the staff. One man who was clearing tables asked if we were enjoying our stay. I mentioned that the TV in the room kept going very dark. This was not an official complaint, as we had got used to it, and we couldn't face joining the line at reception to complain, but he made a note of our room number and sure enough it was fixed the very next day. Impressive, as he was a dining-room employee. He took responsibility for the problem, even though we did not ask him to.All-in-all, a great stay in a great location. My only gripe would be the huge never-ending queues at reception and for the lifts. However, staff were friendly and helpful across the board, which must be quite difficult for them sometimes!
Avoid room 8105, quite possibly the smallest, poorly lit room in London. We were in town for a charity Ball and booked a double room in this well known hotel - when we arrived we lined up at reception with the other 20 or so couples trying to check in and finally got allocated our room. To say we were disappointed would be an under statement - we wont be back!
Location was great, staff where fab, great rooms really quiet once in your room but can't deal with full capacity long queues for check in, left luggage, lifts and breaksfast ! Need to sort this out as you should have the staff to cover for the total amount of rooms
