We stayed in January for 2 nights for a short city break, hotel lobby is lovely and clean and tidy and staff were very helpful. Our room whilst clean and comfortable could do with a few things fixed e.g the tab around the bath had a large crack around it that was poorly filled in. The sink also had a deep crack around the edges and the bathroom door had the wood coming away, the plumbing was also extremely noisy, not idea when late at night . Nothing major but did not expect these sort of thing a central London hotel is beside Marble Arch. Location wise it is excellent though, just around the corner from tube and close to Oxford Circus if you dont mind walking a bit.
Met with friends for a weekend in London, so wanted somewhere nice, central and good value for money. Over the road from Marble Arch, on the northeast corner of Hyde Park and at the start of Oxford Street...could be a better location.Check-in was quick, efficient and staff super-friendly and helpful. Rooms was large (by London standards) and well appointed. Concierge staff were very helpful and were able to answer all of our questions. Would not hesitate to recommend to friends/family and business colleagues.
Rooms ok, hotel is large and without any style or character. After checking out and incurring no extra charges the hotel much later the same day charged me an additional £145 for no apparent reason. The money was refunded after I called them to complain and apparently it was a mistake, but it was alarming as I had only pre-authorised £50 when I checked in and by this point I had long gone. This left a bad taste indeed and despite a brief apology I am now left to wait 3-5 days for the refund to complete.I would never stay here again and cannot recommend.
On arrival we were told that we needed to pay a £50 deposit for each room on check in as a security deposit. We had to wait 45 mins to resolve this with The general manager as we had booked as a business client and this shouldn’t apply.I finally got to my room and lifted the toilet seat to find they CLEARLY have an issue with their plumbing as the toilet was backed up with brown water (just horrendous). Someone did clean my toilet and explained they do have “plumbing issues. I went down to have some dinner with a colleague - which was lovely. We had the fish and chips and hoped this was a redeeming feature of an otherwise bad experience...Only to turn round and be met by a mouse, yes a MOUSE! under the next table in the restaurant. This was raised to the staff immediately who seemed generally unconcerned. The manager did eventually come (after I was asked if I did actually want to speak to a manager about the problem?!) and he did apologise, explaining the hotel is above a tube station and they also have building works going on. I appreciate this, however, having worked in food retail for 20+ years, I know if you have a mouse in the restaurant in the day, you have a MASSIVE mouse problem and could/ should be served an improvement notice my the local council, effectively shutting the kitchen down. We obviously declined to go for breakfast! My colleague also had no heating in her room when we returned that evening - she called for assistance and was told @ 11:30pm to “move rooms or accept a portable heater”. She opted for the portable heater - but - IT NEVER ARRIVED! After complaining when she checked out she was assured a manager would call to apologise - no call was received. If you look at my reviews I NEVER post a bad review - as I know how much of an impact this has on the service industry. However, I feel it is my moral duty to post this after what can only be described as the “worst hotel experience of my life”. And believe that me - with my job I’ve stayed in A LOT of hotels! My advice - do not stay here. It is not 5Star hotel by any means.
Great location right next to Marble Arch tube station (so if you know the underground network you can easily get there from Heathrow) and at the end of Oxford street. A busy modern hotel. Good spacious rooms make sure you get down to breakfast early as it gets very busy.
